i got inspo for a fic about homelander

im lowkey terrified to try write it because i havent got his personality down pat, and im not exactly experienced in the world of writing

do you have any tips you could pass on to a lowley beginner?

ohhhh that's so exciting!! don't be scared. the cool thing about fanfiction is that every author is going to have a unique spin on the character. that's not something to be afraid of. absolutely own YOUR version of homelander.

as for tips, i like to refresh myself on the characters speech patterns. watching scenes from the show helps a lot. reading quotes is great, too! anything to familiarize yourself with his cadence and vocabulary. homelander is kind of a tricky balance of ominous and cringe. he really only gets away with half of the shit he says because he's such a powerful and imposing villain. don't be afraid of getting a little silly with his dialogue. this man embarrasses me on the regular.

homeb0ys made a fantastic series of supercuts of all three seasons with just homelander's scenes, and i use that all the time to skim through. it's a great resource!

and most importantly, have fun with it! the number one target demographic for your fics should always be yourself first and others second. wishing you all the best with your fic!! 🖤
