it depends on a severity of insomnia tbh. in my case i have some insomniac episodes but mostly because im neurotic, so meditations and maladaptive daydreaming helps a lot.
to make insomnia suck less i would recommend to:
1.ventilate your room
2.no screens 20 min before bed
3.meditate, or just make yourself relax with music or smth
4.sing gently to yourself to calm the mind
if it doesn't work, you should get medical help tbh. you need take the receipt for melatonin and stick to doctor recommendations.
