It Had So Much Potential - Tumblr Posts
I wish you could love me again
rewatching season 1 of earthspark and feeling so sad oml , ,,, season 2 has been so completely watered down,, im heartbroken about all the incredible stuff that was set up and now just scrapped,,,,, the whole s1 conflict about humans resenting cybertronians for the war, the autobots' guilt, megatrons relationship to everyone,, the kids actually being intelligent individuals,, the decepticons having real personalities and motives, agent schloder, the fallout of ghost and mandroid, tarantulas? the holoform tech???? the impact of the mind control chips??? hello?? frenzy?? fluffy ears?? starscream reluctantly soft for the kids??? bumblebee being an important mentor figure + family member for the maltos hello????? soundwave and shockwaves personal betrayal from megatron, addressing the original revolution that started the war?? the massive, very clear, explicit emphasis on autobots and decepticons not being strictly good vs bad???? the ideas they presented everywhere about second chances, working to understand other people, learning to collaborate for the greater good???? any consequences from season 1 at all?????
everything earthspark did in s1 was so meaningful and clearly deeply loved in every step of its creation and then seeing how bland s2 has been,,,,,,
I’m actually so pissed about season four of The Umbrella Academy, like it was kinda atrocious. Was the whole different dimension train thing cool? Yes. Was sober Klaus one of my favorite things ever? Yes. Was there genuinely so much more potential for the cult thing? Yes!
But over all there were massive plot holes and aspects about characters that seemed to have been completely forgotten. It almost feels like when a kid has four pages of an easy left and after trying to hard and too long they just give up and make chat gpt take over the rest.
It felt like the makers of the show felt like they just needed to get things over with so instead of attempting a satisfying ending we got half assed “And then they all died 🫤 …. But everything else was a-ok! 🙃”
And from a viewer standpoint that is a very frustrating thing, especially because in seasons prior we got to see these characters actually adapt and grow around each other like any other good show. They learned from their mistakes and achieved new abilities. This season however I feel like by episode 3 or 4 they all just reverted into half baked stereotypes of their actual personalities.
Sorry, I’m rambling. Point is, characters and their quirks are extremely important to me they are to everyone, they make the story happen. So to see them dissolve into weaker distorted versions of themselves it makes me sad.
