I have NEVER seen the verbatim original quote in a Tudor book
it is always this 19th century historian
given the access of these archives online ; i mean ... what does that even say ?
that borman and weir and her ilk just cannot be arsed
and are evidently reading 19th cent historiography (HUGELY problematic and rife with inaccuracy and sentimental apocryphal stories
for Tudor history especially
without checking the original source to make sure it aligns ??
