once again I am thinking about Laios relationships with Kabru and Shuro, and how at first glance these dynamics seem similar but in reality they couldn’t be more different. like Shuro couldn’t stand Laios but didn’t show that in any way for the sake of politeness while at the same time hoping Laios would just get what he feels and leave him alone without him having to say anything to letting him know, because he thinks Laios should just understand that. and when Laios finds out Kabru’s lied about being interested in the same things he is he naturally assumes it’s the same situation, but with Kabru it was completely different, because he knew full well he was lying and manipulating Laios but it was mostly because he wanted to get to know Laios and for Laios to like him and after trying and trying to get to know Laios pre canon and having not working out I think he felt like acting this way was the only way to get close to him, and yeah that’s unhealthy as fuck also really pathetic, but it all comes from this deep fascination he has with Laios, and while there are some things about Laios he dislikes and think are odd he never stops trying to get closer and understand him better, and while he fears some of Laios’ interests might indicate he could become dangerous to the world and that maybe he should kill him to protect everyone he never does it because he knows he doesn’t have the full picture, and little by little even with only their brief encounters he sees there’s way more to him than the bad impressions he sometimes gives, and while it is said that Kabru has a fascination with people in general it becomes quite clear he is not interested in anyone as much as he is in Laios
