I’d love to see how GX’s Jim “Crocodile” Cook & Shirley/Karen would fit into this AU. Because no one would ever mess with a pirate who has a crocodile for a best friend. (I adore Jim. Seriously, he’s the main reason I watched GX season 3, Jace knows this.)
There are a lot of fanfics on the web about this AU, but I find them never “satisfying”. So I decided to draw this to remember everyone how hot he would be dressed as a pirate. (Requests? :) )
When it comes to fandom, I seem to have 3 types of guys...
The Asshole (Heart of Gold optional with certain ones)
The Everyman/Supporting Cast (Usually a 1-time character or various cameos)
The Sweetheart (Who usually needs cuddles & hot cocoa since the world’s against him)
The fact that my favorite YGO boys all happen to have dark hair & blue eyes has nothing to do with it, I swear...

I love Seto with the sword, because I think he’d be a privateer (a “legal” pirate for a government) who inherited one of the largest merchant companies in the country.
Jim looks exactly like the sort of bloke you’d expect to have a crocodile as a “family member”, and who is actually very nice despite such a reputation.

Can we just talk about how the Only Sane Man in pretty much all of GX is this guy?
Because he kinda is. He’s the only one who tells the main characters that they need to find out why things are weird, and is the first to face the Supreme King and try to rescue Jaden/Judai. He also takes a childhood traumatic injury & Mystical Object responsibility surprising well, and in general is the most mature and practical of everyone (far outdoing the teachers).
The guy that’s basically “Steve Irwin if he played card games”. And is in one single season of the show.
Oh Jim, why didn’t they bring you back for season 4? You deserve better.

I actually had a girl recognized me when we were leaving the room- “Nice Jim”, she said. >W< It was so satisfying, since Jim is quite an obscure character compared to most. (One season wonder!)
The croc is nicknamed “Karen”, and I’ve joked at past cons that she’s the daughter of Shirley. Double name reference FTW.
