nails [karljacobs]
pairing: karl jacobs x gn!reader
pronouns: they/them
synopsis: karl has been begging you to come on his stream, and you finally decide to do it.
wc: 1.6k
anon asked: “karl x gn!reader where he is doing a painting nails stream w “special guest” and introduces the reader (kinda like the stream w sapnap)”
a/n: this went from really bad to progressively okay? this is definitely not my best writing, but i tried :)
tw: like 2 swears? fluff mostly, slight fear of being on stream
“hey chat! how are you all doing today?” karl beamed, watching as messages flew through the chat, a chorus of good!s, and great!s brought a smile to his face. “that’s great to hear guys, my day has been going pretty well, thanks for asking!”
you smiled, leaning against the doorframe of his filming studio watching karl thrive in his element. streaming was never something you truly understood until he introduced you to his line of work. you had no idea the intricacies that went into gaming systems and all the terminology he and his friends would go on about, it was as though they were speaking a foreign language.
regardless, you supported him through it all, and karl couldn’t have been happier to have you by his side. he was, however, quite adamant about showing you off to his chat, which at first was absolutely terrifying and you politely declined, pushing it off. he didn’t push of course, karl wanted nothing more than for you to be happy.
that didn’t stop him about going on and on about you to his chat and friends, though. at any given opportunity he’d mention your name, or tell a story about you. to no surprise, chat was begging to meet you, but karl always brushed them off with “they’ll come on when they’re ready.”
it wasn’t until sapnap came to visit and allowed karl to paint his nails that you finally decided it was time. after the stream had ended and sapnap was removing the black polish, the two were discussing future sub goals. you took a deep breath, walking over to the pair.
“you know, you could paint my nails for a sub goal.” you spoke softly, grabbing a bottle of polish from karl’s collection and fiddling with it nervously. you could practically feel the excitement oozing off your boyfriend as he began to bounce on the balls of his feet.
“really? you wanna be on my stream?” he exclaimed, and you giggled at his excitement. he truly was the cutest.
“yeah, i mean. it’s been long enough, i see the tweets about your mysterious significant other, and how its all you talk about.” you gave him a smug grin, and he just shrugged, shamelessly. “gotta give the fans what they want.” you smiled, and karl quickly tackled you in a hug, before he and sapnap ran off to do who-knows-what.
after sapnap had gone home and the ‘karlnap’ content had run out, karl announced his new sub goal. “alright chat, hear me out. if we can get to 23k subscribers - we’re at 20k right now, i’ll bring a special guest and paint their nails on stream.” a flurry of guesses flooded his chat, and karl laughed at some of the options. “chat, chat calm down.. i’m not spoiling who it is.” he grinned, moving onto the next topic as to avoid spoiling the surprise.
by the end of the stream, he had somehow hit the sub goal. “chat, you guys are insane! thank you so much!” he exclaimed, reading out some gifted subs and donos, before wrapping up his stream for the night. “i’ll tweet out the time for the guest stream later tonight, see you guys!” with that, he ended, quickly making his way to your shared bedroom.
“y/n! we hit the sub goal!” he beamed, and you blinked at him in surprise.
“already?” you mumbled, and he nodded eagerly. you smiled, shrugging casually. inside, you were beyond nervous, but you forced it away as the two of you celebrated, ordering some fast food and relaxing for the rest of the night, until karl had to leave to join quackity on his stream.
two days later, the anxiously awaited day had arrived. karl was finally going to introduce you to his stream. he had replicated the set up he had for when sapnap had been visiting, and all day he had been practically bouncing off the walls in excitement. the past few days, karl had been asking you constantly if you were sure, as once you were in front of the camera, there was no going back. you assured him it was fine. now or never, you kept telling yourself.
karl told you to wait outside as he started up the stream, and he would come collect you when he was ready. you could faintly hear his excited voice through the wall, pacing back in forth in your bedroom. you could do this - how bad could it really be? you’d spent the morning going through twitter, looking for any sort of distaste from the viewers, but they’d all been quite excited for the stream as far as you saw.
you only hoped they weren’t disappointed that it was you, and not some other streamer.
before you could pursue the thought further, karl opened the door with a wide smile, and you returned it, following him down to his streaming room. he peered into the camera eagerly, softly grabbing your arm and pulling you into the frame. you smiled nervously, offering a small wave. the chat exploded with a large amount of messages like “who is that??” “is that y/n???”, and you giggled.
karl guided you to sit in the spare seat, sitting in his own. “chat! this is my special guest, everyone meet my partner! this is y/n!” he exclaimed, and you nodded, attempting to read the extremely speedy chat.
“how the hell do you read this, karl?” you mumbled, and he let out a loud laugh, and blushed. “wait, can i swear on your stream? sorry! i didn’t know!” you covered, and karl couldn’t help but admire how cute you are.
“don’t worry about it, n/n. it’s cool! quackity swears all the time.” he assured you, and you let out a huff.
“i feel so unprepared. this is your fault.” you pouted, and karl laughed, glancing at his chat.
“look at you, already farming “awws” in chat. they’re a professional streamer, chat!” he joked, and the chat agreed quickly, messages saying how cool or cute you were being spammed frequently. karl beamed at the support, launching into a story about you doing something stupidly embarrassing, but he insisted “it was cute!” so you let him continue. you desperately tried to read chat, and nearly jumped when a donation came through, scaring you half to death.
“aren’t you supposed to be painting their nails, karl?” it read, and you laughed.
“karl, where’s the nail polish?” you asked, and his eyes widened, looking around his setup; the polish nowhere to be found.
“shoot! uh, i’ll be right back chat! entertain them, y/n!” he exclaimed dramatically, running out of the frame to presumably, your bedroom.
you smiled, trying to read the chat, to no avail. “guys, this is impossible. seriously, how does anyone read chat when it’s going this fast??” you huffed, picking out a few messages here and there. “check twitter y/n!!” you read out, frowning. “oh gosh, chat. what am i about to find?” you muttered, but pulled out your phone anyways, opening the bird app.
you gasped, seeing your name trending with various screenshots flooding the trend. many were of you, zoomed in, doing something cute - others were you and karl giving each other heart eyes, and some were clips of funny things you said. you were in awe, and smiled at the camera. “thank you guys so much - uh, holy shit, i’m trending on twitter. now that is something i never thought i’d say, like, ever?” you stumbled, and that’s when karl returned, a bucket of nail polish in hand.
“okay, i didn’t know which you’d want, so i brought them all.” he beamed, placing the bucket in front of you. you peered through it, picking out your desired colour and placing it in front of karl. “hey chat, sorry about that. i got so excited having y/n here, i forgot the nail polish! i hope you weren’t too bored without me!” you scoffed, hitting his arm with the back of your hand.
“excuse me, sir. i’ll actually be taking over your twitch channel now, since they loved me so much.” you stated proudly, and karl frowned in mock-offense. he looked to chat, all of which agreed it was a great idea, and you winked at the camera.
“whatever chat. they’re mine. you can’t have them.” karl pouted, wrapping his arms around you protectively. you rolled your eyes, pushing him off playfully.
“now you’re.. what did you say? farming “awws”?” you joked, and karl huffed, uncapping the polish you’d chosen and grabbing your hand, holding it tightly in front of the camera with a playful glare, before gently placing your hand on the table and getting to work on your nails.
the conversation flowed easy from there, the two of you answering chat and donos, and chatting about yourselves. you were having a great time, and karl’s heart swelled seeing you so happy - not to mention, he’d been hoping to introduce you for some time now. he was perfectly content in that moment, painting his lover’s nails while on stream, in his happy place.
as for you, you felt empowered. somehow, you were live in front of thousands of people, yet you felt so comfortable - perhaps it was karl by your side, or the overly supportive chat, but you were so glad you’d suggested this to your boyfriend. you couldn’t believe it had taken you so long to agree to appear on his channel, and after you’d ended the stream you eagerly asked him when you could come back next.
side note: karl definitely didn't paint his nails the next day to match yours, and post a picture of your entwined hands with matching coloured nails. (yes, he did.)
friend of a friend [karljacobs]
pairing: karl jacobs x gn!reader
pronouns: they/them
synopsis: a last minute invite to a game of among us goes much differently than you originally anticipated.
wc: 1.2k
anon asked: “karl jacobs imagine where the reader isn’t really a streamer or anything theyre a friend of a friend, and they play among us with karl and the whole dream smp and karl is flirting with them the whole time and all of the dream smp is teasing them and chat is going crazy!!"
a/n: fun fact, i hate among us. it's so overplayed imo and its boring to watch
tw: none, let me know if u see any i missed.
you sucked in a breath, nervously glancing at the 'join' button on your screen. your good friend, quackity, was currently live-streaming himself and some friends playing the hit game among us, and with a last minute pull out and no one responding, he reached out to you and asked if you would be okay with playing a few rounds.
you hadn't realized just how many viewers quackity really got. your eyes went wide upon seeing over 90,000 people watching him queue in the lobby. you suddenly panicked, but you'd already promised you'd play and the stream was waiting.
without letting yourself ponder for much longer, you hit the button, the familiar discord sound ringing through everyone's headsets. "hello!" you greeted, trying to push away the nerves and keep your voice steady.
"y/n!" quackity called, and you smiled. "guys, this is my awesome friend y/n! they're gonna play a few rounds with us since bad had to go early. chat! chat, everyone say hi!"
each person in the lobby greeted you in a mixed jumble of hellos, and with quackity's stream pulled up on your screen still, you watched as your name flew by the chat faster than you could blink, and you giggled nervously, muttering a small "hi chat!".
"y/n, we're playing with dream, george, sapnap, rae, sykkuno, corpse, brooke, karl, myself, and you! don't feel bad if you don't know who's who." he explained, and you hummed in agreement.
the game went smoothly, you growing more comfortable as it went on but deciding to keep more on the quiet side. that was, until you stumbled upon a body. quackity's body.
you quickly reported it, the meeting screen coming up and noting his body was the only one. "alright, who killed alex?" you asked loudly, and a distinctive laugh came from someone else. "who's laughing?" you demanded.
"that would be karl." a british accent called, who you learned to be george.
"hey, i'm just saying.. maybe he deserved to die. he's just actual dog water!" karl defended, and you grinned mischievously.
"that's a little bit.. suspicious of you, karl." you joked, and the call lit up with "oohs". "i say we vote him out, guys. i really don't know if he's imposter, but i want him gone."
"hey!" karl tried, but it was too late; everyone had voted. "y/n! how could you do this to me?" he asked as his body was shot out of the ship, and he was forced to mute. you giggled, thanking the group before muting yourself and heading off to do your next task.
after that round ended, you rolled your eyes upon seeing you were assigned the imposter role.
as your luck would have it, you were an imposter with karl, of all people.
you sighed, re-situating yourself and planning out a route. much to your misfortune, instead of splitting up, karl stuck by your side like glue.
you headed into medbay, taking a quick peek and seeing corpse and rae watching each other scan. you did a little dance in their direction and karl was quick to act, killing corpse while rae was mid-scan, and you killed her seconds later before hopping in a vent. karl followed, and after popping out into security and running, the button was called.
“rae and corpse were double killed in medbay!” brooke announced, and sykkuno’s loud gasp could be heard across the call, sparking a series of giggles.
“did you see anyone?” george asked, smoothly. brooke said no, making a comment about how they must’ve vented. you got slightly nervous, the adrenaline making it hard to lie.
luckily for you, karl piped up. “i was with y/n the whole time, we were in security.” he lied easily, and everyone seemed to take it well, the meeting ending with a skip. you breathed out in relief, smirking as you picked up on vouching for each other.
the rest of the round went smoothly, you and karl occasionally splitting to gain the trust of the other players, killing the occasional. the final ‘imposters win!’ screen came up and you unmuted, cheering loudly alongside karl.
“y/n, we make a pretty good team, don’t you think?” karl teased, and you rolled your eyes playfully, a small smile present on your lips.
“yeah, yeah. whatever karl, i carried.” you fired back, and quackity’s laugh rang through the call. you nearly forgot he was there: he died relatively early at the hands of karl.
a few more rounds went by, karl’s relentless efforts to protect you proving successful almost the entire game. “karl, will you leave y/n alone? i wanted to kill her!” quackity pouted, and karl giggled. your smile brightened at his contagious laughter.
“sorry, man. can’t let y/n die on me!” he commented, and you sighed, glancing at the time with sad eyes.
“hey guys, i think i’m gonna head off. that was a lot of fun! thank you so much for inviting me!” you announced, and a series of goodbyes rang through your ears.
“i owe you one, y/n! i’ll talk to you later!” quackity called out, and with a final laugh and goodbye, you left the discord call.
the crew decided after you left they had all had enough, so they bid goodbye to their respective streams and bid each other farewell.
quackity ended his live, quickly shooting over to discord to the infamous feral boys group chat and hitting call. the four boys picked up almost immediately, confused as to why he called so suddenly.
“karl, care to explain what that was with y/n?” quackity quipped, and the dream team burst into laughter, karl scoffing.
“what was what?” karl asked, innocently. of course he knew exactly what they were talking about, but he simply grinned like an idiot and sat back in his chair to listen.
"maybe if you weren't flirting with y/n the whole time you would've noticed how chat went crazy and how you're trending on twitter because of it!" quackity complained half-heartedly, smiling despite his words.
“can’t let y/n die on me!” george mocked in a high pitched voice, eliciting a loud wheeze from dream.
“guys, it wasn’t y/n. vote for me instead!” sapnap joined, making karl shake his head.
“so what? i didn’t want them to get out. what’s wrong with that?”
“karl, i don’t think i’ve ever heard you talk so much in an among us game ever, let alone flirting the whole time! if you want y/n’s number, just ask bro!” quackity laughed, and karl smiled brightly.
“well then, quackity, may i have y/n’s number?” karl asked, smoothly. the boys instantly began to whoop and cheer, applauding their friend on his confidence.
you heard a ding from your phone, quickly walking over and squinting as you adjusted to the light of your screen. a smile as bright as the screen illuminated your face once you saw the notification.
‘hey, it’s karl! i had a really great time today! i hope you don’t mind that quackity gave me your number!’
you quickly typed back a response, a giddy feeling rising in your chest.
‘trust me, karl. i don’t mind at all.’
