Today was April 9th, the day that Dimentio's been waiting for, that being, his birthday. As soon as he woke up, he burst into the main room of Masked And On Task, with a grandeur greeting to top it off. "And so I arrive, like a cherry upon the ice-cream sundae of life!" Dimentio announced.

… To no fanfare.

Dimentio started to walk around, looking at all of the members, immersed in their own tasks, so he tapped on the shoulder of one, technically two.

Both Hood and Ghost turned around, in perfect sync, but it's hard not to when one had the other on their shoulders, Hood, the one on top of Ghost, spoke first. "Oh, hi Dimentio! What brings you here?"

"Yes, hello, Thing 2." He continued, "I was wondering why everyone is busy today, no one even sighed with relief when I arrived."

Ghost, as excitable as she is, then spoke up. "Ooh! It's because everyone's getting Masked and On Task ready for the b-"

Hood gently prods Ghost with their foot. "ow, Well, what I meant to say was.. was…." Ghost looks to Hood for assistance.

"No real reason! We just wanted to make the place look nice, is all!" Hood added. "Ah, might it be because a very special day is coming soon?" Dimentio queried. Hood responded, "Ahm, I mean I'd assume so!" Ghost, trying to cover Hood's tracks the best she could, said "Well, I think weneedtogonowbye."

Ghost and Hood leave said area in a hurry, with Cloak running towards Dimentio in their place. "Hey, Dimentio! You doing anything right now?" Dimentio turned his head to the side and huffed. "Hmph, well, no one else wants to pay attention to me, so I suppose not." "Good, how 'bout we go clothes shopping?" Cloak suggested. Dimentio had to think on it for just a second before responding. "..Yes, that does sound nice. I would like to wear something else than this old cloak every once in a while, it's just become so drab now!" Cloak nodded. "Agreed, everyone needs a new wardrobe every once-in-a-while."

Dimentio decided to bring something more important to her attention. "On the topic of "everyone", will the others be coming along? I do think Marx could stand a wardrobe change." Cloak, seeing this as an opportunity, agreed. "Now that you mention it, he could come along as well."

Just to test the waters, Dimentio asked her a question. "Splendid! Is this trip for any… special purpose?" If that wasn't obvious enough, he continued, "Such as a very special day coming up soon?" Cloak shot him down, figuratively of course. "I was just thinking you could have an outfit other than… this.. old memory. I'm going out today, so I thought it would be a perfect time for you to tag along!" Dimentio's mood was slightly dampered, but he cheered up when he reminded himself that Marx would get a new wardrobe as well. "Hm, well, I suppose I can't pass up an offer such as this." Cloak was relieved by him not realizing. "Exactly! Now let's get Marx and head on out."

Their first (and only) stop of grabbing the jesters was to obtain Marx, because he's been wearing the same hat for twenty-seven goddamn years at this point.

"Marx, darling~!" Dimentio called out. "Would you like to come along with Cloak and I to buy new clothes? I know that you need them for the life of you~!" Marx got up and looked at Dimentio. "That's a very bold statement, but, sure, why not."

Jevil, never wanting to miss out on anything, piped up as well from the other room. "Ooh! Can I come along too? I've never been clothes shopping before!" Dimentio shifted his attention to Jevil. "But of course! You definitely need something better than those old, dungeon rags."

Jevil looked down, slightly melancholy. "These were my clothes when I was The King's jester.."

Dimentio immediately responds. "My point still stands, dear."

Cloak, needing to intercept this conversation before it starts getting emotional, got between them. "Okay, I think it's time we get going, don't you think?" Dimentio clapped and grabbed Marx's.. wing? "Ah, yes, zero time to waste, everyone! Let's get going!" Marx, surprised at this sudden development, spoke up. "Oh, I thought you were joking- Alright then, let's go."

So, with the group in tow, they pop over to The Wise Cloak, a boutique in town because "clothing store" doesn't sound as fancy. Two workers stared at them while they were in the doorway, Jevil immediately decided to look and touch all of the cool fabrics, foreign to them.

Cloak attempted to grab their attention. "And here we are! I'm assuming you three are going to go separate ways?" Dimentio begun to analyze the space around him. "Of course, I need to get my suit tailored. I have a very special body type, you know." Cloak, beginning to regret this trip, motioned for him to follow her. "Oh, well then follow me! You two can also come along."

They enter a separate room that holds two other workers, Koikie and Core. Koikie, the more plump of the two workers, spoke first. "Oh, welcome! What can we do for you?" Dimentio floated over to the counter, and asked the two a question. "Yes, do you have any tailors here? If you want to get a suit, you have to get it tailored."

Core, more lanky than Koikie, answered him. "Why yes, we're the tailors." Dimentio perked up. "How convenient! Could you make a suit for this dear child here?" He said, making a motion towards Jevil. "Of course! Come, come!" Koikie stated.

Jevil follows Koikie into the next room, to be sized and given test fabric to distract them, which left Marx and Dimentio alone with the other worker, Core.

Marx walked around, looking on hangers and in the clearance bin. "I think I'll just find some things that fit." Dimentio sat down on a box stool and scoffed at him. "Hmph, if you're going to get a suit, you might as well get it tailored, especially someone like you." "There's not much you CAN tailor." Marx said, opening one of his wings and shaking it a bit. Dimentio turned back to Marx to fix his bowtie. "Whatever's left to tailor then. You at least want to look presentable, Marx." He swatted Dimentio away. "Ah, you have a point there." Core inched up behind the two, startling them. "You two have seemingly agreed, which one of you would like to be tailored first?"

"Since Marx doesn't seem to care about the fine artistry of tailoring, I don't think he would care if I went!" Dimentio responded and turned to face Core. "Yeah sure, you go first." Marx muttered, with a slight tone in his voice. Dimentio turned back to facing Marx. "I thought you just wanted to find whatever fits?" "I never said I was unhappy that you were going first. Stupid." Marx said, with a smug grin.

Dimentio gives Marx a mildly amused look before leaving with Core, just then, Jevil, wearing a dark purple suit with coattails, comes out of the room with Koikie.

Marx turned his attention to Jevil. "I see you finished." Jevil, swiping off the non-existent crumbs on their cool new suit, said, "Do you think it looks alright? I tried to see what would fit." Marx replied, "I think it looks great." "Speaking of which, where's Dimentio?" Jevil asked, looking around the lobby. Marx answered quickly, to prevent any form of worry from either party. "He's getting his suit tailored. He'll be back soon." Jevil tilted their head like a dog, or an anime girl. "Are you going to get a suit? Can you even.. wear one?" Marx brushed them off and continued his search in the bins. "I'll probably just get a different hat and bow tie, nothing much. Also probably not."

And with Marx's final statement, Dimentio makes his grand entrance with his brand new suit! More of a coat if anything, with a bowtie, split in half in a similar way to his mask.

"And so I arrive! Like… like… hmm..." Marx stared at Dimentio in shock. "I never thought I'd see the day you can't think of anything." Dimentio flipped one of the bells on his hat as if it was hair and crossed his arms. "It's been a long day, Marx, cut me some slack here!" "Not… not really." Marx muttered.

There was a small pause until Dimentio brought something to Marx's attention. "..To change the subject, how presentable are you going to be?"

Marx turned back to Dimentio before moving to Core's side. "Well, we'll find out I guess."

Marx then follows Core into the other room to get his own clothing tailored.

Dimentio plopped back down onto the box stool he was sitting on earlier. "I truly can't believe him sometimes." Jevil sat down on the stool next to him, cross-legged. "Well, he knows what he likes! You have to, uh, 'cut him some slack'!"

Sooner or later, Marx comes back into the room with his new clothing consisting of a new hat and bowtie, just as he said he'd get.

Dimentio stood back up and got on one knee to talk to Marx. "Hm, I don't think I'd be able to pick you out of a crowd if I tried." "Oh well. That's a shame." Marx said, walking past him, with Dimentio following behind. "Speaking of which, where has bubblegum ran off to?"

Marx started watching the birds outside, just to give him something to occupy his time. "Maybe she went to help with the outfits for the others."

Dimentio placed a hand on his hip. "Well, she can't just leave us stranded here like that! Plus, we have no money." Koikie appeared behind both of them to mention, "Oh, you don't have to pay!"

Dimentio, taken slightly aback, responded, "No, that simply cannot be, your artistry has helped Jevil and I obtain what we needed for our wardrobe, this can't just go unnoticed!"

Koikie, completely deadpanned, "We don't do money in this town." Dimentio leans onto the counter slightly, "Well, how can we repay you?" Koikie, shaking their head, noted, "There is no need to."

"Please, I insist, however can we repay you.. what's your name again?" Dimentio queried. "My name’s Koikie." They responded. Dimentio, immediately going back to his original question. "However can we repay you, Cookie?" Koikie, mildly confused by Dimentio's sudden pleading, "Ah… You don't need to. We don't do money here! Everything is free in this town!" Dimentio appeared puzzled at first, before remembering that none of them have money, so this is awfully convenient for them. "… Hm. That seems flawed in concept. We'll be taking it nonetheless."

Koikie, handing them their bags, said, "Have a swell day!" Dimentio, saluting them from the door, stated, "Thank you for your irreplaceable service, Cookie and.. the other fish!"

Once they arrive back to Masked And On Task they see a party in full swing with lots of decorations and music, some decorations were handmade, others looking a bit more refined. All of the jesters run off to look at something different, Jevil to look for Joka, Marx to the drinks table, being manned by Samuel, and Dimentio to the washroom, wherein he finds Ghost, in a chrysanthemum-patterned dress, and a ribbon tied around the stomach, trying her hardest to make her hair look nice.

"Oh, Dimentio! I didn't expect to see you so soon!" Ghost said, beaming. "Yes, hello.. you seem to be struggling." Dimentio noted.

Ghost looked over to Dimentio, then back to the mirror. "Yeah, it's a bit difficult trying to make your hair look nice when you know nothing about hair styling, and if you accidentally cut your thumb earlier today trying to cut vegetables." " .. If you wouldn't mind, allow me to help! I know a thing or two about styling hair." Dimentio offered. "Aww, you'd really do that?" Ghost places a hand over her chest. "Thanks Dimentio."

Using his limited knowledge of styling hair, he makes a sort of half up-half down style, a bit messy, but still functional.

"It's.. cute.", Noted Ghost, quite astonished at the style. "Ooh, my turn!" She almost shouted out of excitement. Dimentio worriedly shifted away from her. "Hey, wait a moment, I thought you knew nothing about hair styling!" "I still don't, but Ms. Lila puts my hair in a braid sometimes, so that's what I'm going to try and do!" Ghost said, taking Dimentio's hat off.

In the end, she just puts his hair in a ponytail and tries to twist it, leaving Dimentio to just take and put his hat back on and make a quick exit, where he enters to Blonka making a speech.

"-I'm so glad that we all could be gathered here today, to celebrate the date of creation of one of our most valued friends at Masked And On Task…" Blonka announced.

Dimentio tunes the rest out, and begins to search the crowd for.. anyone he knows, really, most importantly, Marx. Blonka finishes her speech, everybody claps, the music kicks back up, and Dimentio begins his search, quite literally running into who he was looking for, his dear friend, Marx.

"OW! WHAT THE?!" Marx yelled in shock. Dimentio, startled by Marx's sudden shout, "Ah, hello, fine stranger! Care for a dance?" He said, giving a low bow to him. Marx, still shaken up by the sudden push, "Uh… sure??"

Dimentio grabs Marx's claw and.. attempts to engage in a dance, their heights being the worst roadblock. In order to get around this, Marx uses one of his leftover boss talents, vomiting up a beach ball.

Marx, in a more cheerful tone, "There we go." "Mar-... Sir, I don't think I want to hold your hands after that." Dimentio stated, now displeased.

"Aww, come on! You're the first person that's talked to me since I got here!" Marx grumbled.

Dimentio gave a slight smile to Marx, before agreeing to continue the dance. "Hmm.. well, I can't say no to a stranger as charming as you."

Henceforth, Dimentio hesitantly continues the dance.. for about a minute or so, before Ghost barrels into the both of them, spilling a platter full of Vacation Juice, and popping Marx's ball.

Marx shouts yet again, "Oh COME ON! REALLY?!" Ghost, stumbling both over her words and her own body, "Ah, sorry, sorry! I'm having some troubles balancing myself!" "Well, be better at it! By god, these are new suits!" Dimentio said, checking for any rips or stains on his suit. "Sorry! Can I get either of you anything while I'm here?" Ghost asked, pulling out a small notepad. "Hm, could you grab us some of those splendid little sandwiches?" Dimentio inquired. "You know how Marx gets if he hasn't eaten, he'll start eating out of the garbage if you let him." Ghost wondered if he actually would do that, but didn't want to test it. "Uhh.. I'll.. see if Samuel can do that!"

Just like that, Ghost ran off into a different direction, bumping into multiple others on the way.

Marx, looking at her judgmentally, spoke, "You'd think she was drunk if you didn't know her age."

"Ha, speaking of drunk.."

Dimentio pulls a handkerchief out of his coat sleeve, and brings Marx closer, so that his forehead is touching his chest. Just as Marx begun to relax, Dimentio shoves him off.

"There you are! You still had a bit of Vacation Juice on your hat, and I want to prevent it from staining." Dimentio said, as he pushed the handkerchief back into his sleeve.

"Oh really?" Marx tried to give a smile. "I must've not noticed! haha.."

While Dimentio and Marx stood there awkwardly, the music shifted, almost everyone swapped to a new partner, except for Marx and Dimentio. They cut through the partially intoxicated crowd and make their way to a balcony, with a beautiful view of the shimmering stars above.

"You were basically made for this. I mean, you already have a mask after all." Marx said, sighing in relief. "Hm, I would suppose it was like this party was made for me, ha!" Dimentio said, chuckling. Marx sighed and stared back at Dimentio. "Hm, yep. And yet... you're still so charming with the mask." Dimentio rolled his eyes at this comment, "Haha, you would never say that if I took it off." "You really think so? Well, I bet I would still say that even if you didn't have the mask."

Dimentio was.. shocked, to say the least. Marx knew that he wore the mask for a reason, but he still wanted to see. Dimentio stepped back and clasped his hands in front of his chest.

"... Well then. Marx. I think we've known each other for.. quite a while now, if you end up not wanting to know me after this, that's understandable. Thank you for knowing me this long nevertheless."

Marx was unsettled by this statement, "What are you going on about?"

Dimentio gives a slight smile, before placing his fingers under his mask to slide it off, but just before he could even begin to move it, a voice comes from the balcony's arch.

Ghost came in, holding a platter of finger sandwiches. "Hey you two! Turns out Samuel does know how to make those little finger sandwiches, but since he's here.." Her free hand held her stomach for just a moment, before shooting back to her side. "Samuel confused them for actual finger sandwiches! Can you believe it!" "…what?" Marx whispered, Dimentio deciding to resume his statement. "…What the HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?" Ghost glared at both of them for a few seconds before answering, "What I'm doing here is giving you your sandwiches, like you asked."

Dimentio straightens his bowtie and tries to keep his balance. "That I noticed, but I didn't think you'd be here so early!" "Oh yeah, those sandwich things are actually pretty easy to make! It's kinda like making a regular sandwich, and then you just cut everything off so that it's baby sized!" Ghost said with a grin. Dimentio took a deep breath and walked closer to her. "Listen, Ghost, neither of us asked for a history on finger sandwiches, we asked for food so you can get off our backs and not mess everything up, like you always do."

Ghost falls completely silent and leaves the tray of sandwiches with Marx and Dimentio, so she could storm off.

Marx appeared concerned. "I think that was a bit much, Dimentio." Dimentio sighed and put his head in his hands. "Ugh, I'm sorry, I was just a bit surprised, you'd understand, right?" "I'd guess so…" Marx murmured under his breath.

And in order to keep this from getting a bit too dark, Jevil comes from the arch next, waving to them, with Joka in tow.

"Hi Marx! Hi Dimentio!"

"I'm assuming you two came out here for some fresh air?" Joka added. Dimentio, surprised to see Joka again, and here of all places, stated, "Ah, suppose you could call it that." "Cool." Joka continued, "Jevil wanted to check up on you two." "Well that's quite nice of you, Jevil!" Marx said, playfully nudging them. "Yeah, you two have been out here for a while, I wanted to see what the… woah."

Jevil stared up at the sky, to the stars above, as if they were all carefully and excruciatingly placed one by one in the sky. These tiny, sparkling crystals, able to form patterns and shapes, and yet all still shine so brightly on their own, just one could light their old cell for years, even if it's long burnt out, the stars' light would still reflect brightly within them. Although a Darkner, they could appreciate the stunning display in front of them.

"Yes, did they ever have stars like this in the dark world?" Dimentio said, leaning on the railing closest to them. "I don't think we had stars… ever!" Jevil mentioned, still gawking at the sky. Marx, playfully patting their head, stated, "Now you know what they look like!" Dimentio fidgeted with one of the bells on his hat and glanced at Marx. "Personally, I only need one star in my life." "Oh, pft- Come on! You don't gotta say that kinda stuff!" Marx claimed, flustered. "It's true!" Dimentio expressed, with a playful grin. "Hm… If you say so." Marx muttered, before looking back at the stars.

All four of them have a moment of staring at the stars, though Marx and Dimentio looked at each other more than they did the stars. However, sooner or later they all believed it was time to go back inside, where Marx and Dimentio share a kiss, and Marx wishes him a happy birthday.
