was this always your plan? . - Cressida - Leonora @storyofwhoiam
"Was it my plan to bring honor to my family name? Yes, that was my plan, I just always thought I'd do that by marrying well, not by advising my king and queen. But here we are."
" I know my value. Anyone else's opinion doesn't really matter.". - Eloise - Leonora @storyofwhoiam
"That is how it should be, certainly, though don't tell my mama I said that, I may be lady-in-waiting to her majesty. But I am still supposed to care about what others think of me and my family, if I want my younger sisters to be happy I must bring honor to my family name in one of the only ways a daughter can in this world."
"You look stunning in that gown.". - John - Leonora @storyofwhoiam
"Oh, thank you." Her mother had deemed it necessary that her wardrobe be made over, they had spent hours picking fabrics, her mother insisting on ordering shades of blue since that was the color it was rumored the prince liked best. And every piece was the height of fashion.
The pale blue gown that she was now wearing was apparently attracting attention from other suitors besides the prince.
"That is very kind of you to say, Sir."
βWhat are you thinking about?β. - Amy - Leonora @storyofwhoiam
"My family, or rather my siblings..." Leanora was the eldest, so often she was thinking of her siblings, especially the younger two, Theresa and Hélène.
"I worry for them, for their happiness, as long as I marry well then my sisters will have the bright futures they deserve."
"That sounds amazing." Leanora had never been so far from home before. Sheβd come with Ella on this political visit to attend to her, but also as support for her young queen.
But seeing the island sparked something in the lady-in-waiting.
She wanted to see more of the world.
"It's so different from home, but still familiar."

"We are a small kingdom, though my father says we are rich in tradition and romance." Leanora smiled, though small they may be there was a fierceness in the hearts of the people.
"We're a kingdom of farmers mostly, but we would be nothing without our ports."

Leanora had decided to spend her day off in the park. It was a beautiful day, and it'd be a shame to waste it.
She hadnβt expected someone smaller to collide with her, but there was no serious harm done.
The child was a beautiful little girl around the same age as Lea's youngest sister Hélène, with the most breathtaking blue eyes.
Turning when the adult seemingly in charge of the girl spoke, Lea smiled.
"A little, but no harm done. She's just excited."
@flashbacksech0es : Miles & Leanora
It had taken a while to get time to go to the little park, let alone find their way there. But Miles had been determined to make it there. Things had been chaotic enough, moving here from West Virginia, and getting adjusted at the hospital. But with a four year old? And doing it all on his own?
Anna needed the break. The chance to just be a little girl. And to be honest, he needed it too. Being a single working parent was hard. And he had to make sure that his daughter's emotional needs were being met just as much as her physical ones.
As they walked down the path, Anna's bright smile, sweet face, and little voice greeted everyone with a hello and a wave. But when she saw the little creek up ahead, she broke free from his grip and raced forward, nearly running right into the legs of a woman also standing on the creekbed.
Rushing up, Miles managed to catch up before the little girl ran into the water. "I'm sorry." He apologized as Anna wriggled, eager to go splash around in the water. "She didn't bump into you, did she?"
The stone pressed into her hand by the toddler was worn smooth and shaped like a heart by the water. Slightly veined by pink, rose quartz perhaps, Leanora smiled.
"Thank you, it's so pretty." Turning to the man Lea smiled sweetly.
"My youngest sister is about the same age. She picks flowers for people." When he held out her hand and introduced himself and his daughter, Lea shook his hand.
"I'm Lea, it's nice to meet you." She didn't give her last name, the name de la Tour was well known, and Leanora didn't feel like making it known she was Lady Leanora de la Tour.

"I wasn't going to say anything, but I was trying to place the accent." Lea said smiling, she loved meeting people from other places in the world, she found other cultures fascinating.
"If I may, where are you from?"

"No offense was taken." Lea said hoping he'd believe her, true she wasn't normally complimented so openly by a stranger, but the whole point of this dress was to get attention.

"I suppose, though I don't mind, I want my siblings to do well for themselves, and if I can help with that I will. Though I will say if my mistress has a say, history will remember me not as a dutiful daughter but as a diplomat." Leanora said, only half joking, her mother may not see it, but Ella often leaned on Leanora for support, as did the king.
"If you could, what would you do to bring honor to your name?"

Leanora couldn't help herself she laughed in delight.
"Great minds think alike I suppose!" Leanora said, she loved that he wasn't even put off by her proposing first.
"Do you want to put the ring on since I sort of stole your thunder?"
@flashbacksech0es sent : βmarry me.β
When Edward had asked Lea to take a walk in the castle gardens with him, he certainly hadn't expected those to be the words she'd say. Taken aback, the young Duke could only blink for a moment. Yes, he and his sister's lady-in-waiting had spent quite a lot of time together since Ella and Kit's wedding celebration. But until that, Edward been rather uncertain of her thoughts and feelings regarding him.
Slowly, a smile tugged at his lips, and he wasn't quite able to stop the chuckle that escaped. "Well, I suppose that makes this a tad redundant, but I hope you won't mind if I do anyway?"
Then, reaching into his pocket, he got down on one knee and held out a small velvet box.
"It is, though there are those who don't consider what I do as advising." Leanora laughed when Miss Cowper asked how she shifted her path.
"Luck mostly, my parents had hopes of me catching the king's eye, but he married the queen, and I was chosen to be one of her ladies. We got along almost instantly, and my king trusts his queen's judgment."

"Ah, so you're American." Lea said with a smile. Sheβd never been to America before. Though she did want to visit someday. Perhaps the king and queen would travel there for a diplomatic visit someday.
"Are you here visiting then?"

"It is a lovely place to live, as I'm sure is your island, the things that make these places beautiful is different, but in the end it's still beautiful." Leanora said smiling, it was not her place to tell the prince of her king's plan to negotiate a trade deal between the two kingdoms, but even Lea could see that this little island was going to be a profitable trade partner.
"What is your favorite thing about your kingdom, Your Highness?"
"We are a small kingdom, though my father says we are rich in tradition and romance." Leanora smiled, though small they may be there was a fierceness in the hearts of the people.
"We're a kingdom of farmers mostly, but we would be nothing without our ports."
"About another hour or so before we arrive," Leanora hadn't minded Edward falling asleep, travel was tiring she couldn't fault him for that. But she was a little glad that he was awake now.
"I won't lie, I'm looking forward to getting out of this carriage and stretching my legs when we arrive."

Groaning softly, Edward realized that he'd somehow fallen asleep in the carriage. He wasn't sure how long he and his wife had been on the road, nor how close they were to the destination Kit and Ella had sent them on.
Rubbing his eyes, he looked over at her with a soft smile. "I'm sorry. I don't know how I fell asleep. Where are we? Has the driver said how long until we're there?"
"I'm alright. It won't be much longer." Leanora said, despite how her legs cramped and protested she wanted to make it to their destination before dark.
"Are you ready for this?" Serving the crown never got any easier, but with her new husband beside her it was bearable.

Leanora smiled, her mother may not approve of her conversing with someone like John when she was supposed to be catching the prince's eye, but Lea was finding this conversation much more stimulating than trying to get attention from a man sheβd only met a handful of times.
"Thank you, the gardens here are beautiful. Your hard work has paid off."
"No offense was taken." Lea said hoping he'd believe her, true she wasn't normally complimented so openly by a stranger, but the whole point of this dress was to get attention.

"I see. Welcome then, we are happy to have you and your daughter." Lea knew they were in sore need of medical professionals, just like everywhere else.
"How are you two settling in? Our little piece of the world can be an adjustment, or so I've been told."
