signing up to a relationship with someone as busy as lee haechan wasn’t something you expected to be doing in your early twenties, but it was never going to be something you regretted. because of their upcoming comeback, practices had started to run late into the night and your boyfriend had started to forget to eat his meals on time. naturally, you had asked him if it was okay for you to drop by with lunch for him and his members.

“hmm? only if it’s homemade!” he’d grin playfully, the fatigue clear in his eyes. you knew he was joking—but he also gave you the green light in the form of a light kiss on your cheek before returning to whatever he was doing beforehand.

and that’s how you find yourself sitting across the large mirror, watching your boyfriend and his group prepare for their comeback.

“should we take a breather?” mark pants—his hands on his hips as he takes a swig from the water bottle placed messily along with six others on the floor. the other boys make a sound of agreement before falling into their own places scattered across the practice room.

haechan saunters over to where you’re sitting, smiling slightly as he plops down next to you.

“tired?” he hums as he snuggles into your arm. you’ve learned to deal with his sweaty head and clingy tendencies because you know just how much he needed it at that moment.

you hear the small snickers coming from mark as they watch the two of you near the corner of the room. “y/nnieeee take over for me please,”

haechan whines as he watches jeno and jaemin continue practicing the choreography. you laugh, running your fingers through his hair.

“that actually sounds pretty fun. i know all your parts anyway.” you nod, watching as he frowns and sits up—his eyes lighting up with confusion.

“what do you mean you know all my parts?” you shrug as you try and wipe off his sweat from your arm.

“well you’ve been practicing pretty hard for the past few weeks and i just picked them up… i guess?” you blush, as he gazes at you with this sense of—adoration.

jeno perks up at your conversation, eyeing you as the music pauses. “y/n can dance?”

you meet his gaze through the mirror and nod shyly. “slightly. not at your guys’ level of course.”

you had never really been open about dancing, especially when your boyfriend was exceptional at that aspect. so when it came to it, you never really boasted about it.

“well… why don’t we see how well you dance?” mark grins, urging you over to the center of the dance floor. haechan nods at you as he pushes you over towards jisung.

you nod towards jisung—the pink blush on your cheeks only intensifies as the music starts. you feel your body start to move as the beats start to fill the big room you all were in.

jisung whoops as you both approach the chorus, a big smile tugs itself onto your lips as you feel yourself loosening up. your gaze meets your boyfriend’s as you smirk at the shocked look on his face.

“holy shit..?!” haechan breathes when the song stops. you’re panting as jisung grins over at you. you laugh as haechan runs over and picks you up in his arms.

“i didn’t know you danced so well, pretty?!” the nickname slips from his lips as he couldn’t wipe the grin off his face because heck, his girlfriend could dance!

chuckling to yourself, you peck his cheek as he puts you down, “i’m glad you liked it.”

“maybe y/n should take your place for the promotions.” chenle snickers as haechan glares at the younger boy

you smile as the two notifications are immediately opened, the clock had just struck twelve—meaning it was now officially your anniversary.

“happy anniversary, pretty! i’m so sorry i couldn’t be by your side today, but to make up for it,”

his small note was accompanied by a short tiktok that was filmed by him. your heart melts as the smile on your lips widen even more—nearly forgetting to press the ‘heart’ reaction to your lovely boyfriend’s message.

“hey, hey. why are you crying my love?” haechan gasps as he whisks you into his arms.

you were—slightly ashamed… but with the comfort of his arms everything felt so much better.

“i-i just… need you tonight, is that okay?” your low murmur causes his grip to tighten around you, his hand coming up to gently caress your hair.

“of course. you have me, my love.”
