I've been listening to the Percy Jackson musical on loop and I love AUs so... Les Amis as half bloods?

-combeferre is a son of athena and he just thrives with his fellow nerds and also designs the most epic chariots

-courfeyrac is a son of hermes and his father may be the god of thieves but the only thing he’s known for stealing is people’s hearts <3 <3 <3 and also the occasional bag of chips

-marius (son of athena) is convinved that cosette can use charmspeak but really she’s just really pretty and he would do anything for her 

-a certain son of apollo can’t seem to look away from a certain son of dionysus hmmmm 

-they get really into capture the flag what’s that oh look i wrote a fanfiction about this once maybe check it out

Since everyone’s talking about Les Mis modern aus right now– I’ve joked before about how I think modern au Valjean would just Not Get things like memes/texting/internet culture, but I actually think you could play that for drama too?

Valjean was in prison for 19 years. If Modern AU Les mis takes place shortly before 2020, then Valjean would’ve been in prison during some of the biggest technological shifts of all time! 

Valjean is canonically clever/a quick learner/good with industrial technology like his bead factory, so Modern Au Valjean would probably be able to figure out the logic of how modern internet/phones/technology works. He would understand how to use it.

BUT Valjean would definitely struggle to figure out….the social/cultural aspect of technology? He was in prison 19 years and had no friends or family when he got out, so Valjean would have no frame of reference for what a “casual text” should look like, how you’re supposed to interact with people on social media, how to understand the tone of a social media post/whether someone is joking, and so on. He might understand how internet/technology works, but all those little social rules would be hard for him to learn.

I know Grantaire calling Enjolras "Apollo" is a fandom thing but I can't stop thinking about modern AU trans Enjolras, who hasn't decided on a new first name yet, panicking when asked and he just says "Apollo" without thinking. Grantaire is just so stunned and flattered that Enjolras named himself after something that he said.
