after all the goddess has put link and zelda through, over so many lifetimes, i wonder if link is angry.

something something no good deed goes unpunished and the road to hell is paved with good intentions
it's also built on the blood and bones of good mortal heroes and men who didn't ask for this role
or to be on the receiving end of a deity's love which never ends well for the mortal in usually every mythology ever

my personal headcanon is that the Fierce Deity is the culmination of Link's anger in every lifetime finally having enough and going
"You know what? I'm tired of being nice *proceeds to break the cycle both the Links and Zeldas have been trapped for millennia*
probably via defying both Hylia and Demise because they're both equally to blame for this lovely and beautiful tragedy we all love
at least that's my headcanon
