HOTD showrunners (supposedly): okay we aren’t going to have Maelor as a character because having a 2 year old on set makes things really difficult, what with child labor protections, all the people around them, and the kind of scenes they would be in.

Also the HOTD show runners; okay so Aegon the Younger is supposed to be about 5 years old while all this goes down. It’s essential he is old enough to remember the events of the war, because it marks him as a person and is the reason for most of his personality and actions as an adult, which has far reaching implications for House Targaryen and Westeros as a whole.
