Concept that’s been living rent free in my brain for the past couple of days:

Ok so when I draw Undyne I base most of her attributes on Beta fish, Sharks, and barracudas. 2/3s of those fish are salt water fish, and we know Undyne canonically likes the beach and salty flavors so…..

This has absolutely no basis in actual biology (to my knowledge. I don’t know jack shit about fish) but you know those red markings on her face? What if because she FINALLY has regular access to salt water they get brighter? What if she starts to get markings on other parts of her body now that she’s on a much healthier environment?

Heck, why stop at Undyne. I’ll bet that several fish monsters notice similar things. Heck, more monsters in general notice this kinda stuff. The surface is the environment they were evolved to after all, so maybe they’re all just healthier in general! Plant monsters grow better in the sun, bird monsters have more room to fly and use those wings, access to both salt and fresh water, etc etc.

Idk. Just some thoughts

Undertale undyne headcannons Idk just being able to get healthier when in a better environment just makes me feel good Like. so many lil things that no one even considered The underground may have resources and a substainable enviorement but there’s like. no natural sunlight Exept in some places And Sunlight is kinda essential to a substainable ecosystem And like. yea there’s artificial light but still I think I read somewhere that natural light is just better for organisms in general but I may be wrong Gotta fact check this later I like thinking about the biology side of monsters lMAO it's so interesting
