Literally Said 'wow' Out Loud - Tumblr Posts

It is a vertical illustration, in mostly sepia and red tones.
A depth effect is simulated by different layers that become increasingly blurred as they get further forward.
The viewer's view seems to be almost at ground level, buried in whitish smoke.
In the foreground are dancers frozen in various postures, muscles tense. It is not very noticeable because of the blur but there is a marble texture suggesting that they may be statues. Those whose faces are visible have tears of blood running down their cheeks.
Their bodies are illuminated by the ground, a pentagram of white light.
In the background, immersed in a red light and half camouflaged in dense rising smoke, a wooden tower, the pulpit, where Papa Emeritus 4 is perched in his richly ornamented finery of embroidery and jewellery.
On each side of the tower, platforms in the same style as the tower, where the Ghouls are mounted, one per platform.
From top to bottom, left: a keyboardist, multi ghoul, one of the two guitarists.
From top to bottom, right: the other keyboardist, the bassist, the other guitarist.
In the middle at the foot of the tower the drummer.
I have reproduced the details of Papa's shadow as it was in the video, giving the impression of a horned goat's head.
Close up on Papa
Close-up on two ghouls on the left of the tower, and on the face of a dancer.

Close up on Montane, with dancers's bodies on the foreground, and lot of smoke.

This is my illustration of Spillways. It's been a long journey, I've had a lot of "I hate it" moments and finally "oh it's ok I've figured out how to do what I want". I wasted a lot of time testing different styles for the smoke, I think I found the right balance between full on painting and too much lineart. Anyway, I'm happy to be done even if once again I have to force myself not to keep improving the details that wouldn't even show haha.

And it's also the first time I've drawn ghouls, even if it wasn't the biggest part since I used photos as a reference so as not to waste time creating poses. I did the same thing with the dancers, but modified the shapes for more body variety.

Hope you like it !
