TIL the silvery salamander only has females and they reproduce by borrowing sperm from a different species! And 0% of the male's genetic material gets passed down!

Why does this animal make me think of the plant Brassica oleracea, the plant that was the predecessor to cauliflower, broccoli, kale, and brussels.

This is just the animal version of the plant, but with mice, pigs, rabbits, and kangaroos.
