Hello! I have a question!!! Y do baikal seals look... Like That? Like. No offense to them, love the pathetic wet beast vibes, but Why do they have those large eyes??? All the other seals do fine without the ðŸ¦+🥺 impersonation, so is there an evolutionary purpose for them to literally be a walking (swimming? waddling??) emoji mashup????

So some of you may already know that Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world (scary)

This also comes with a LOT of darkness within the lake. And if you're a diving carnivore who lives there, what can you do to help you see prey in the darkness?...
Obviously you need the biggest largest marble eyes possible on earth so they can pick up every single little speck of light! (Their numerous whiskers are also really sensitive and help a lot but that's offtopic.) That's what's going on with our little sweetie freak
