Tw: mentions of suicide, death, a bit of angst
His gaze softened as his body came to a stop. He stared down at the grave in front of him, his head tilted downwards. The grave looked a few decades old, the engraved stone already having a few cracks on it with beautiful pink and red flowers placed in front of the grave, the name still semi visible to the human eye.
'Emily Maria Rein (1988-2010) -Loving daughter, sister and friend-'
His old therapist. The only person that cared beside his brother, someone who accepted him, even though he looked so ugly and disturbing from the accident. She was someone that listened to his worries, thoughts, past.. she was there for him when he felt alone, when he needed to be reassured of things, when he needed comfort. Dr. Rein was like a little sister, who accepted him since day one.
Jeff's hair just hung loose, slightly covering his scarred face with its dark strands. He seemed sad, upset.. and yet the look of his gaze wasn't readable. Though, he seemed to hold back tears.
It was cold outside, and yet the scarred man didn't care. The wind blew on his back, hitting his black shirt very lightly. He shivered slightly, squeezing himself with his scarred built arms for comfort and to heat up, at least a little bit.. but clearly, it wasn't working. Dark clouds surrounded the sky, making it dark, though it wasn't raining. It was just a cloudy evening with a bit of wind. And it was perfect since no one else was there except for him, and the keeper of the graveyard, whom was on the other side of the place.
The male continued to stand, embracing himself as he shivered, standing over the grave, his gaze never leaving it. He kept reading the words on the grave, her name continuing to go though his mind over and over again as he continued to stand in silence.
He missed her, he really did. They haven't known each other for too long before she ended it all, but he felt that bond, that connection between them. A connection between him and a sister he never had.. something that wasn't by blood. She never talked to him professionally, but as someone close, almost motherly.. even though she was younger.
It's been years, almost three decades to be exact, since she committed suicide. Three decades since Jeff lost someone he cared about because he couldn't just ask her about her mental health, he couldn't just say that he was there for her too. And now she's gone.. she's been gone for years and he still feels guilty of her death. Dr. Rein was in pain, she had her own personal struggles, she was stressed by them and her job made it even worse. She was miserable, and yet she woke up each morning and got up from her bed each morning for work, pushing all of her problems to the side for her patients.
His lips quivered from the thought of it all, a few tears now running down his scarred cheeks as his shoulders shook. Jeff continued to embrace himself as he cried, his legs becoming far too weak to stand. He started to sob quietly, falling to his knees, his shoulders continuing to shake.
Even though Jeff killed the man that was responsible for the poor young woman's pain, he still felt guilty for not giving her a helping hand.. a shoulder to cry on. And the more he thought of it, the more he cried.
He felt like she's disappointed in him, but he wouldn't blame her. He became a killer. Even though he only killed the bad, he still felt like he wasn't any better than the rest of the people he's killed for all these years. Jeff never seemed to stop his murders, he just continued to hunt people down that he saw as evil and kill them. It was a guilty pleasure, he liked seeing them in pain knowing it wasn't normal. Once he started, he couldn't stop. It was like a drug he couldn't let go of.
He became something far worse than his own father ever was.
By now, he was just falling apart in front of her grave, curling up in a ball as he let out quiet sobs, his breath hitching. He tried to calm himself down, but he just continued to cry. It wasn't rare for him to cry at her grave anymore, and it didn't seem he'll stop his monthly visits, since he's been doing them even since she left this world. He bared a burden of the loss more than her own family, grieving even to this day.
Jeff's shoulders continued to shake as breathing became more hard for him, starting to choke up on his tears.
He found someone that reminded him of her.. his own son. The little boy he took in after he killed his parents, who weren't good people. Luca has a beautiful bright smile, just like she did before her mental health dropped and she took her life. His son's nature was innocent and kind, yet he still had a small side that had silliness and chaos.. which is slowly becoming concerning since Luca finds joy from flames and explosions. Yet he still loved him unconditionally, his son being his angel, his most precious thing in the world.. something more above than his own life.. Luca's safety before anything else.
The scars on his cheeks twitched as he smiled softly through the tears, calming down finally. His face was wet from crying so much, a tinge of red now under his eyes as he wiped the tears away. The thought of his son made him smile, and it made him feel better, he's the reason he stays alive and keeps on living. Jeff stays strong for him. So.. he's also staying strong for her.. in some way.
He continued to smile, getting up from the ground. His head, was still tilted downward, and his face still wet, but he felt better after letting his emotions out. Jeff got closer to the grave stone, making sure not to step on the floor, and placed his scarred hand on the grave stone, feeling the cold texture of it. He stood still as he felt a cold embrace wrap around him, even though no one was there. It was almost not noticeable because of the wind and coldness of the air. But he knew.
She's there. She always will be. Either alive, or dead.
Emily will never be too far away.

So bassically, after the accident in the bathroom, Jeff started therapy to recover mentally from it all. The first doctor that he went to actually wasn't nice and acted weird around Jeff, and something just made him change therapists.
Dr. Rein took him in and accepted him with open arms, which made Jeff feel happy because people started to judge him for his looks, made them cover their kids eyes when Jeff passed by..etc. Jeff grew up in a household where he was thought not to show his 'negative' emotions, like sadness. He couldnt cry, especially if its in front of his father, who was a veteran that wanted to prepare Jeff for the army.. To be a tough, strong and stoic soldier. But then Liu was accepted to this college and Jeff left with him before his father enrolled him there.
So he learmed to let his emotions out in front of someone with dr. Rein's help.
So Jeff was heartbroken wjen Jeff foynd out she killed herself because of an abusive relationship.
And her 'boyfriend' was Jeff's first target.. And then he started his years of killing bad people.

TW: blood, mentions of murder and drvgs, illegal adoption
Drip...drip...drip..
The red liquid dripped down on the floor in small droplets, the knife being covered in it.
Two bodies lied limp on the bed, both of them drenched in blood, their bodies filled with stab wounds. They were a couple, two lovers, partners in crime.. Literally. Both of them were wanted criminals, both drug addicts, murderers and just complete asses of human beings. And now they payed for their wrong doings.
The man just stood in front of the bed, looking at his own doing, his clothes drenched with blood. His face scarred and disfigured, grinning widely.. psychotically. He looked tired, even with his crazed expression, his eyes having bags under them. His hair was loose, long and black, a few strands sticking to his face. Jeff was sweating, a lot. The kill too a lot of his energy, making him breathe heavily, panting like a dog. He held the knife tightly in his gloved hands.
Jeff continued to stare at their bodies for another moment, before he turned around walking away from the bloody mess he just made, not looking back.
As he started to come back to his senses, he placed the knife in his pocket, his head hanging low as he worked his way out of his victims home. Opening the window, he started to get out, making sure to not make much noise. His feet landed on the ground, rubber soles squelching across wet grass as he started to walk away.
A small yet loud cry stopped Jeff from leaving any further, the cry echoing through the home. It sounded like a.. baby?
Fuck.. Since when did those two have a child? What is he supposed to do.. He could just leave it there, people will get suspicious of it's parents anyways.
He stood still for a moment, before he went for it, jumping back inside the home through the same window. Jeff's calculations weren't good though, as he landed harshly with a loud thud. It looked painful.
"Ow! Fuck-"
The killer groaned as he got up, dusting himself off quickly, ignoring the slight pain he was in. The cries of the baby continued, it seemed that it wouldn't stop any time soon. Well, unless he didn't do something about it. Jeff sighed, walking down the hall where the cries got louder and louder. It would be said that it's annoying, but it's a baby. What's it supposed to do? The poor thing is unaware of what happened moments before.
He got to the door where the cry got stronger. His gloved hand was placed on the handle, gently and slowly opening it.
"You gotta be kiddin' me.."
The small baby way lying in its cradle, tears running down their face, dressed in small blue and white overalls. Jeff couldn't move as soon as he saw the baby, he was standing there like a deer at headlights, now speechless. Both his mind and heart raced, his breath shortening once more. He didn't know what to exactly do in this situation.. should he calm it down? But he'll probably make it worse with his appearense if he picked them up.
It was hard for him to decide, but he ended up walking up to the cradle, picking the child up, now holding them in his arms. As soon as they left the arms of another, the baby's cries decreased slightly, but it was still upset. They looked at Jeff with their tear filled eyes, their cheeks all red from pouting and crying. Jeff frowned slightly, the scars on his cheeks twitching as he continued to hold the small human in his arms.
The seemingly dangerous looking man was being oddly gentle with the baby, them being held securely in the killers arms. The baby now started to giggle as they locked eyes with the strange scarred man. The cries dried out, and now it was giggling at him.. or his apperanse. Jeff felt his fractured heart melt from the cute and innocent sound they were making, the frown quickly consorting into a smile. He started to speak, his voice soft and gentle.
"I look a bit silly to you, don't I, bud?"
Jeff chuckled lightheartedly. It was surprising how he's acting currently, since he killed this child's parents 30 minutes before. The baby just giggled more, clapping their hands happily. They had a wide smile now, one of their hands gently touching the killers face, still giggling. He felt his heart melt more from the baby's touch, his eyes softening as he stared down.
"What's your name, kiddo?"
He asked curiously as he looked around, trying to find his name somewhere. He spotted the name on a small table that was probably for his things, 'Edward'. Edward..? Well that's a very common name for a boy. It seemed basic. The man hummed and looked back at the smiling baby, his head tilted slightly.
"Uh... well.. I think I'll just call you Luca-"
He chuckled, holding the baby boy even closer to his body now. Luca grabbed a few strands of Jeff's long black hair, placing it in his mouth. This surprised Jeff, quickly putting his hair away, tucking it in his hood. Luca pouted slightly but he calmed down soon.
"What am I supposed to do with you now?"
Jeff more spoke more to himself then to Luca, who was deseperetly trying to take his hair once more, but failing miserably. The killer sighed, trying to plan out his next move. He didn't know what to do exactly, but he knew he couldn't just leave poor Luca alone like this. Who knows when people will find his parents' corpses, me might be dehydrated and half dead by then. They are in a house slightly far from the town anyways.
It troubled him, knowing what might happen to the poor baby boy if he just left him there.
He finally got an idea, his expression lighting up almost imediately. Thought it was quite risky. But it wouldn't hurt anyone.. right?
"You're coming with me little guy!"
Jeff said happily, lifting him high up in the air for a moment before he brought him closer to him once more, cradling him in his arms. He then started to walk out of Luca's room, going back the same way he came, holding him securely.
The man, soon was outside, walking away from Luca's former home, walking back to his car that was parked behind some bushes and trees. The baby boy was now asleep as he was held, Jeff holding him by one hand as he got himself ready by getting inside the car. He placed his hand on the steering wheel, taking a deep breath as he started the engine. He went into reverse until the car got to the road, driving away from the scene of the crime he committed.
It was worth it though.
"Liu is gonna to fucking kill me.."

"So, how have you two been holding up?"
The older man held his notepad, sitting at a desk. His gaze was on the man in front of him, looking quite nervous to be there, but the determination was there as well. He couldn't really get the words out, it seemed he wasn't so good with social, even though he's the one that is more capable talking with. There was a silence for a moment as the younger man got the courage to speak, his voice slightly quiet.
"I've been holding up.. nice, I suppose."
The other man spoke, shifting in his chair. His head hand loose for a moment, before he raised it up to lock eyes with the doctor, a look of worry.. concern on his face. Liu's gaze softened even more, his blue eyes staring back at the doctor.
"But Jeff? I'm starting to worry about him more and more. He's acting so strange, I-"
Liu sighed, taking his fogged up glasses off and rubbed them with a cloth he took from his pocket, placing them back on.
"It's like.. he's-"
His lips quivered as he tried to take the words out of his mouth, but he was struggling in doing so. It's been weeks now, and Jeff's mental state didn't seem to get any better from it all. He wasn't eating much, he was sleeping during the day, walking around the house and neighborhood at night.. he was laughing to violent movies, seeing people die brought joy to his face. It was quite the sight, the seemingly normal acting man now turning into someone else entirely.
"Like he's not even my brother anymore.."
His body slightly shook as he spoke once more, making the doctor sigh. The older man got up from his chair and walked up to Liu, placing a hand on his shoulder, rubbing it slightly. He stared deep into his eyes as he started to speak in a more soft tone.
"Don't say that, Liu. Your brother is going through healing of trauma he went through from his past and accident.." He trails off for a moment, continuing to speak the second later. "..and now he's mourning the loss of a therapist he was so attached to."
The doctor spoke in a calm yet sympathetic tone, trying to comfort Liu as well as assure him of his brothers actions. This doctor was an understanding man, he knew that the things Liu's brother went through weren't normal and they scarred him both physically and mentally. It was rare for a therapist to have such a mindset, especially in this time. He was like dr. Rein, and yet he still had his rough edges.
"Not not be offensive, but he went through a lot more in his life than you." The man frown at this, thinking of the things he was told by both Liu and Jeff during the past sessions. "Your brother isn't well mentally, yes.. but I cannot blame the poor man for just being human. A lot of us break under pressure."
Liu sighed at this, looking away for a moment and rubbing his temples.
"I suppose you're correct, dr. Firmin."
The doctor nodded and took away his hand from Liu's shoulder, his arm falling to his side. His face went back to being unreadable, walking back to his desk and sat down, shifting in his chair for a moment. He placed both of his elbows on the desk, making his hands as a support for his chin. It took the doctor a moment to speak again, his voice slightly more monotone.
"You've told me, over the phone, that Jeff expresses happiness in death of others?"
Liu nodded at the doctors question, his head tilting downwards slightly as he watched himself fidget with his fingers nervously. His knuckles cracked, and he looked back up, listening to what the doctor had to ask, so he could reply.
"What kind of people? Good, bad?"
"Bad, sir. When he sees a villain die on screen.. or just get hurt, he laughs. He often says 'Evil should die, evil is not needed in this world, too many cruel people, they hurt the good.', and just pauses the movie to watch the picture of the dead villain. And a neighbor of ours passed away not so long ago, who wasn't that nice, I could even called them an asshole.. and Jeff laughed it off and said 'Good riddance'. He seems.. sadistic, almost."
Liu shivers slightly as he explains his brothers behavior, sighing afterwards. It was quite unsettling for him to see his own brother act that way, felling joy at someone's death like that, even though the character was fictional and not real. The doctor started to take notes on his notepad, the sound of the pen writing on the paper was loud enough to hear, his handwriting messy and fast.
"Your brother is correct at a certain level. Evil is around, there's a lot of cruelty and judgement in this world, the bad hurting the good and innocent. That's how we lost poor Emily.."
D. Firmin explained as he continued to write things down, trailing off once he spoke the name of his deceased colleague. He thought for a moment, before he stopped writing down and looked up at Liu as he placed the pen down. He tries to find the words for him to speak, tapping the desk with his fingers, and then he spoke.
"Jeff is showing signs of being a schadenfreude."
Liu's face consorts into one of confusion and curiosity, shifting in his chair and leaning closer to the doctors desk.
"A wait what now?-"
"Someone who thinks that the pain and suffering of someone is well deserved.. if the person is bad and they get hurt, then a schadenfreude would think they deserved it. It does explain the fact that you think he's sadistic, since he is."
He explained once more, his hands motioned as he leaned back in his chair. One of his hands ran through his hair, his gaze now dropping on his desk in stead of Liu, who was just staring at him in surprise and curiosity. Liu didn't move, he just listened to dr. Firmin's words, letting it sink in.
"It's.. a rare type of psychopath.. for to be in my hands, that is." He sighed "I only had one schadenfreude during my years working here, before your brother. He passed away after being publicly executed."
"Oh-"
There was a moment of silence between the two, a clock chime breaking it. It was 9 pm now, their session now ending.
"Anyways.. The time of the session is up. I'll see Jeff next week on Wednesday, same time, okay?"
Liu got up from the seat and nodded, taking out his hand for the doctor to shake. Dr. Firmin shook Liu's hand and smiled softly at him, but he didn't get up from his seat. The doctors smile masked the worry and concern for the both young men, for both their physical and mental health. Especially for Jeff.. who seems that he won't have much sanity left, which means another patient passing from his hands onto the psych ward. He cannot afford loosing another patient, so he's trying his very best to help.
Liu waved the doctor goodbye, smiling slightly as he walked towards the door, opening it before he spoke.
"Please, take care. I'll see you soon, doc."
•○●---------------------◇----------------------●○•
"Jeff? I'm home!"
Liu yelled from the front door, closing it behind him. He walked around, the silence creeping him out as he looked for his brother. The mans blue eyes darted around, his footsteps making the floor boards creek slightly. The bathroom door was closed, but the light was on, which meant his brother might be inside. As he got closer to the bathroom door, he started to hear quiet sobs and something that sounds like.. laughing? The laugh was muffled from the sobs, which only made it more sinister. Liu's gaze softened as he heard the crying. his face consorted to a look of worry.
"Jeff?"
He spoke softly as he stood in front of the door, placing his hand on the handle. He got no answer, only the quiet sobs and laughs continuing to come out of the bathroom. Liu opened the door, his eyes widening in pure horror.
"Oh my god!"
He took a step back, his body starting to tremble.
Jeff had a bloody knife in his hand, his cheeks now having big cuts on them, almost ear to ear. Tears were running down Jeff's, now wounded, face as he laughed again. Blood was everywhere, from his clothes, to the knife, to the sink.. the floor. It was everywhere. The wounded man looked at his brother and laughed some more, before he took a step toward him, his breath heavy yet shaky. A few tears started to run down Liu's cheeks as he saw this, still in shock as his brother got close to him.
"I.. i...did it.. Liu.."
Jeff spoke, his voice shaky and quiet. He now stood in front of him, his green eyes locked with Liu's blue ones. He just stared for a moment, staring at him in silence as he tried to speak once more, the blood still dripping down from the wounds.
"I avenged.. our poor.. dear.. Emily."
"The evil is.. dead."
"Calm"
More lore, lol
finally something more normal, wholesome :3
He was stared down upon by the big creature as he slept, his chest rising and falling as he did so. He looked peaceful, and yet the demonic looking being decided to break that peace. It got closer to his sleeping form, getting on top of the bed as it loomed in front of him.
"Wake up.."
The deep demonic voice echoed inside his ears and head as he lied on the bed, not covered by any blanket or sheet. The voice was surprisingly calm as it spoke, as the man continued to move around on the bed as he kept his hood on his head, preventing the sunlight from hitting his face, though he was sweating from the heat.
"I said.. wake up, you foolish man!"
The voice barked at him, echoing in his mind once more.
The man groaned as he sat up, taking off his hood and revealing his scarred and disfigured face to look at the demonic being in from of him. The large red malnourished looking hellhound grinned widely from seeing him awake, it's four lantern like eyes fixated on the man as they glowed in an eerie way. It let out a pleased bark and wagged it's tail. The man yawned and stretched, his bones cracking slightly. Jeff then got up as the dog stretched as well, seemingly mimicking his actions. He chuckles and pat's Smile Dog's head, making it's ears raise up, the grin on it's face remaining.
"Have you had your rest, Jeffrey?"
The demon dog asked as it tilted it's head, now trying to read his mind to get the answer. The creature shows friendliness, so it took him aback slightly, but brushed it off the moment after. Jeff smiled slightly, his scars twitching as it heard a single word coming from his mind, a simple 'yes'. Smile Dog wagged it's tail in joy, once more pleased, making Jeff chuckle.
This routine has been happening for a while now: Jeff goes to kill someone, the Smile Dog appears to keep him company while he takes care of the body or it just eats the corpse while Jeff has his back turned, they walk home together, Luca plays with it or they all sit in the living room and watch Tv. Well, the humans do, Smile isn't interested in the things they watch, especially when Luca watches his shows. The other residence, or Liu and Luca, are unaware of the kind of creature Smile Dog actually is, but it's the best to stay a secret since both of them are two innocent souls.
This isn't some kind of an owner-dog relationship, no, this was actually more like two allies. Smile Dog is not to be seen as some pet, because its a powerful demonic being in a form of a dog, a hellhound, who yearns for human energy and flesh. And Jeff knew that ever since it revealed it's true form.
Jeff walked away from his bed, walking into the closet to put on fresh clothes. He took off his hoodie and shorts, putting on normal boxers without putting on a shirt, washing his face, waking up some more, and then walked back in his room, where Smile Dog was lying on the floor, now in it's normal dog looking form as it panted from the heat. The windows in the room were all opened, and yet it was hot as hell. He sighed and opened the door, motioning for his hellhound ally to follow him as he walked out of his room. Smile soon followed him, still panting heavily.
Liu and Luca were in the living room, Luca watching the morning cartoons as Liu scrolled through his phone, just going through the news at a site. They took their attention to Jeff and Smile once the two appeared from the hallway, Luca smiling brightly at them.
"Good morning papa!"
Luca said, sounding so innocent and joyful. Jeff smiled and waved as the dog walked up to the young boy, starting to lick his face as it wagged its tail. The boy giggled and pet the husky, still smiling brightly. Smile then sat next to Luca on the couch, laying its head on Luca's lap as the boy continued to pet him.
"Good morning to you too Smile!"
As Luca stopped watching the TV as started to take his attention to Smile, Liu turned off his phone and waved at his brother as Jeff waved once more back.
"We let you sleep a bit longer, so we had breakfast without you, but we saved some food." Liu said with a chuckle, removing his fogged up glasses to swipe with a small cloth. He then placed them back as he watched his brother nod and go to the kitchen, disappearing after he walked off.
Jeff entered the kitchen and spotted the plate of pancakes that were waiting for him on the table, a fork, knife and a glass of water there as well. He sat down and cut the pancakes in pieces so he could eat more easier and started to eat.
As he ate, Smile walked into the kitchen and started to drink from the bowl it had, hydrating. Jeff chuckled, watching Smile as it drank it's water. He was enjoying the sound it was making from drinking it, somehow. He always loved animals, even though Smile isn't even considered an animal, even as a hellhound. Smile finished drinking and lied on the cold kitchen tiles, cooling itself off.
"I hate summer. It's hot.. too hot."
It was slightly ironic, for a hellhound to be hot in this weather, since it was supposed to be used to the heat. But it wasn't wrong, it was hot both inside and outside. Normal Texas weather, right? 'No shit.' Jeff thought, making Smile perk up and read his mind. Smiled growled slightly at his comment, but then chose to ignore it and lower it's head, going back to just lying down.
When Jeff finished, he drank the water from the glass, tilting his head backwards so he wouldn't make a mess from his cut scars on his mouth, who were causing him to lose some on of the water he tries to drink at times. Tilting the head backwards helps him greatly. He then placed the dished in the dishwasher and just walked back to the living room, sitting on the couch with his son and brother.
Liu was flipping through the channels with the remote, sitting with his legs crossed. He then chose a random channel that played movies, an old horror movie playing on the screen. Luca sat closer to them both, now sitting the middle of his dad and uncle. Both Luca and Jeff's attention went to the movie and they watched it together, Luca holding onto Jeff just in case a scene unfolded that he wasn't comfortable with. Jeff felt his body relax and let out a content sigh, wrapping one of his arms around his son, making sure he felt safe, his gaze softening slightly as he glanced down at him, giving Luca's head a gentle kiss. He then turned his gaze back at the movie that was being played.
Liu watched the cute scene unfold beside him, looking at them both in awe, chuckling as he took his gaze back to the screen, now watching the movie as well.
The movie was a good distraction from the heat, it was nice for them to bond together as well. A normal calm day, a break for Jeff, from the violence he causes, a break for Liu and his job, and just a nice thing to do once in a while. It made them seem like a normal family, like it didn't have a mentally ill scarred man that commits murder every once in a while, like he didn't have a secret hellhound for an ally. Just a normal family, yep.
Smile appeared once more, panting slightly, sitting on the floor beside the couch. It lied down and closed it's eyes, taking a nap as the other three continued to watch the movie. Luca was clinging himself to his father, who was watching the movie with a wide grin as everything unfolded, Liu staring at the screen, seemingly unfazed by everything that was happening in the movie.
It was a peaceful day for the Hodek family. A good day to relax and it was just not a day to rush anything and to just lie around, cool off and hang out with each other.
Just a nice, normal day with a nice, normal family. Right?
Also luca sounds like a sweetheart!!
He very much so is ^^
Jeff is doing his very best to give him a good childhood since him and Liu had strict and partially abusive parents. Theyre part of the reason Jeff is so agressive with his kills.
Luca was found by Jeff in a home of his latest victims, who were Lucas parents. They were bad people, which Jeff targets A LOT, he hates bad people. He gelt sorry for the baby and took him, and the had to have an argumant with Liu so he could keep him.
Thankfully, both Jeff and his illegally adopted son have their charms and Liu agreed.
Luca is a happy boy, with a sweet bright smile that would melt anyones heart. His dad is protective of his precious boy, but he does teach him how to fight when he gets older.
Though, Luca takes on the Hodek family legacy in some way, and he becomes a famous arsonist, setting the victims houses on fire to get rid of the evidence he were there. But like his dad, bad people.
