An Open Letter to Ms. Taylor Swift (so formal lol)

I don’t know what possessed me to write this, but something did so I want to write an open letter to Ms. Taylor Swift. Currently, I should be writing a paper I’m behind on, but I’ve never been good at concentrating on the right things. Instead, I have listened to the song Me! over the past two days a total of around 37 times, which is a lot. Your music has helped me a lot since coming to college. It started out with just listening to older deep cuts because of nostalgic value. I have only been to a total of five concerts in my life, three of which were Taylor Swift. (Speak Now, Red, and 1989. I was out of town when you were coming to Pittsburgh for Reputation but I watched the Netflix show.) It slowly turned into me listening to all of your albums as a way to not feel so alone. The reason I love Taylor Swift music is the same reason that I love musicals (which she should totally write one btw besides the point), I love stories no matter the medium. I love being able to feel those emotions through artists and characters. I love feeling the heartbreak of All Too Well and Last Kiss. I love feeling the frustration and loathing in This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things or Look What You Made Me Do. I love feeling the gratefulness of Long Live or The Best Day. I love feeling the love and hopefulness of Fearless and Enchanted. I love your work because it gives me insight into feelings that I’ve felt towards completely unrelated circumstances. I’ve never been in love, but I can feel that way towards songs like New Years Day or You Are In Love. 

Basically, I just want to thank Taylor Swift. For the first time in my life, I’ve felt so desperately alone at times and you helped me feel less so.
