Okay, again, Phoenix aren’t really actually mentioned in the books as actual characters, so here’s my interpretation!

I have a h/c that while Phoenix can shapeshift like dragons and unicorns as sentient creatures, they can also change size, because while tiny Phoenix are adorable and good for day-to-day living in the wild, they aren’t that scary and couldn’t do that much damage in a fight- so, giant Phoenix for you!
