The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch. 1

This is the first part of this story. I decidet to add new chapters every Monday and I hope you´ll enjoy reading it :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was beginning of the summer and the forest was waking up to a beautiful and sunny day. Birds were singing, roes were jumping on glades and elves were preparing for celebration. This celebration takes place once in twenty years. That´s why everyone pays it a lot of attention. Well… everyone except Eunis. She has no idea what they were preparing. She asked almost everyone. But they said her to don´t interrupt.

“Would someone finally tell me what´s going on?!” No response. She knelt under big old tree. No one bother to even look at her. But then she heard kind voice.

“We are preparing the celebration of the Blue Moon. It will be in few days.” Eunis twitch. There was a young elf. He has short blond hair and emerald green eyes. His smile was honestly kind. He wears short sleeved linen shirt.

He noticed that she twitched and said: “Sorry I don´t want to startle you. My name is Arian.” He also offered her a hand and helps her get up.

“That´s ok. I am Eunis and thank. Everyone is apparently busy. By the way… what is this celebration about?”

“You seem to be new here. I didn´t see you in the village before.”

“Something like that. I live here for ten years but I don´t go out so often so we haven´t met before.”

“Oh… That quite explains it. Never mind… This celebration takes place once in twenty years. That´s when the blue moon shows up on the night sky. Last time it was almost thousand years ago. Most of us know about it just from stories and legends. It is very important. In the middle of glade we build big sacrificial altar. But don´t worry. We don´t sacrifice animals or anything like this. The sacrifice is the hard work we put to the preparation for the celebration. This all is for protection of our forest and village.” he said overly importantly.

“This evening we will practice some dances for the ceremony. These are pretty long and difficult so kids learn them since they are six. Everyone dance. Just some elves plays on instruments. Wanna come?”

“I would love to, really, but nobody teach me how to dance. I think will just stand aside and watch as not to obstruct.” she said sadly.

“I can teach you.” Arian said encouragingly. “I don´t want to brag, but I am perfect dancer and excellent teacher.”

“That would be nice, but you said kids learn them since six… How can I learn it in few days?” she said disbelievingly.

“Trust me… You´ll do great. I bet you can learn them in no time.” Arian said with bright smile.

Arian was right. It wasn´t that hard and he was really good teacher. It doesn´t even began to get dark and Eunis can dance almost half of the first dance.

“See? I told you. Tomorrow you´ll know to dance all of them.”

“You are really amazing. How long it takes you to learn? I suppose about five years. You are certainly the best dancer of all.”

“Firstly, I learned it when I was fourteen, so it´s three years. Secondly, you are probably right. I might be the best.” said Arian proudly and then laughing fell to the ground. He lay down on his back and watched the clouds floating in the sky.

“Look, Eunis. This one looks like deer. Come take a look.” he said pointing somewhere in the sky. She lay beside him.

“Yeah. You are right. It looks proud.” She looked at him attentively. It looks like it wants to tall her something, but it can´t. It was just cloud that slowly began to fade.

“DID YOU SEE THAT?! That deer just winked at me!” she shouted.

“Winked? I don´t think so. It´s just a cloud.” he pointed to the sky.

“Well… was. It´s gone now. Maybe you are tired. We´ve had been dancing almost all day. And it´s getting dark. We probably should be going home. Tomorrow, early in the morning, the altar will be placed on the glade. And it would be shame to miss it.” Arian said and escorted her to the village.

“Thank you for everything. I really enjoyed this day. I can´t wait for tomorrow.”

“Me too. I´ll come to get you. You won´t believe your eyes when you see it. I heard it is breathtaking.” He led her to a crossroads.

“See ya tomorrow, Eunis.”

“Good night, Arian.”

Eunis came home excited. She didn´t even notice the noncomprehending expression of her nanny. Erin had to grab her by the arm.

“Where were you so long?”

Eunis pulled away and said with a smile: “I was preparing for the celebration of the Blue moon.” and went to her room. She untwists her braid and spread her auburn hair on the pillow. She was so tired after that dance that she immediately fell asleep.

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 2.

“Eunis! Wake up! You have some visitor.” Erin shouted.

“Alright, alright. I´m up.” she answered and quickly enmeshed her hair. She opened the door.

“Good morning. Are you ready for unveiling the altar?” Arian was standing in the door and has a soft smile on his face. Eunis nodded and let him lead her to near glade. There was a lot others elves. Some decorated their homes others turn hung up trees in various ribbons. There were a lot of colors. Some elves were trying to transport really big thing to the middle of the glade. It was about 2, 5 meters high and covered with blanket.

“What is that?” Eunis asked curiously.

“You´ll see. Just wait a bit.”

It took a lot of time to move the thing to its place. But finally, it was placed. The blanket slightly shivered. Suddenly the wind started rise. Eunis looked up on Arian. He had closed eyes and he breathed slowly, it looks like he breathes in the same rhythm as the wind.

“Hey, are you ok?” she asked him. Arian flinched.

“What? Did you say something?” He looked confused.

“Nothing… I just want to know what it is.”

“Don´t worry. They´ll take the off blanket soon.” There was silence. Everyone looked up on the strange thing. The main headman came and had a speech. A pretty long speech. He spoke in their immemorial language. Each tribe had its own immemorial language. Eunis was still learning it so she didn´t understand everything. And the headman spoke fast and he mumbled. It sounded like prayer to the Goddess… Mynai?

´Great. Now I don´t know her name.´ Eunis told herself. The headman spoke faster and faster. Then he turned and pulls off the blanked. In the sunlight there stood enormous statue. It was wonderful elf woman. She had long loose hair. Her dress was longer than pedestal on which she stood. They were simple, but magnificent. They were encrusted with tiny glittering rhinestones. Perhaps diamonds. Around her waist she had a thin belt from the vines with leaves. The statue was made from grey stone. Her face was calm and somewhat had pensive look. In one hand she held an oddly shaped stick. It looked like braided branch, which had a head branched into a kind of star. In the middle was set a relatively large crystal. From each angle it had a different color. In her other hand she held a large book. On the cover was a round hole. Perhaps there was a stone, but it probably already dropped out. Around her neck was suspended smaller round necklace decorated with an odd character.

“Mykénai.” Eunis whispered. Arian gave her astonishing look.

“How do you know this?”

“I know her. I already saw her, but I don´t know where or when.”

The headman started speaks again. Now it was shorter and more understandable. He was talking about the ceremony. It has to begin before sunset. It must be done properly in order to protect our village from… God… Mordred?

´Mordred. Weird name. But it´s oddly familiar.´ Eunis was confused. In the end the headman say goodbye with traditional greeting. He crossed his arms over his chest, bowed and gestured to leave. Eunis he wanted to leave, but Arian stopped her.

“How do you know her? Nobody has seen her more like thousand years ago. How is it even possible?”

“I have no idea.” Eunis didn´t know what to think.

“EUNIS! Where are you?! You didn´t eat your breakfast yet. Come back home NOW!” Erin shouted over the whole forest. Eunis winced.

“Sorry. I must go or else I am in trouble.” she smiled weakly.

“That´s alright. I´ll see you later.”

When Eunis came home she found a bowl with fresh fruits and juice of forest berries on table. Erin wasn´t here. It was really tasty and it lifted her mood. After breakfast she went to her room.

´Ok…´ she told herself. ´You saw a statue of someone who you saw for the first time in your life and you know her? And not to mention that she have been gone more than thousand years. This is weird even for me. Come on. From where do you know her? I need to talk about it with someone. But who? Oh, man. She would think I am crazy.´ Eunis went to the kitchen and looked around. She found Erin cleaning the table.

“Aunt Erin, can I ask you something?”

“Of course, dear. What do you need to know?” she said giving Eunis soothing smile.

´Ok. How do I put this?´

“How did I get to our village?” Eunis asked carefully.

“Do you really want to know it?” her smile was gone. She frowned and her voice was cold. Eunis slowly nodded regretting her question, but she has to know. Maybe it has connection with the Goddess.

“As you wish. It was ten years ago. I went with others to the forest looking for some food. The winter was coming closer. We went deep to the woods. We almost crossed the border of our and Cornwood forest. Then we found debris of one small village. It was terrifying. Not a soul anywhere. Grass was burned, trees were charred, things were strewn across the ground and the wind was blowing through destroyed walls. It was dead quiet. We were about to leave but suddenly I heard weak crying. We followed this tiny voice and we found little girl sitting in the corner of one house.” Erin posed and looked Eunis into her sapphire eyes.

“That little girl was you.”

Eunis bewilderedly gasped. “M-me?”

“Yes, you.” Erin said calmly. “You had similar dresses like today. And that necklace is also from that place/time.”

Eunis ran her fingers over pendant in the shape of tear made from the grinded blue topaz, swinging on a silver chain.

“We felt sorry for you so we took you with us to the village. It took a long time to decide who will get you in charge. In the end they chose me because you refused to go with anyone else. I christened Eunis, which, as you know, mean ´found´. You haven´t told us your real name. Probably you forgot it in all the confusion. Since then I sew you the same clothes, and raise you as my own daughter. That is all. Anything else?"

“No, thank you. That´s enough.” Eunis was too confused to ask something else.

“That´s a good girl.” said Erin and she returned to cleaning. Suddenly Eunis overheard knocking on the door.

“I´ll get it.” Eunis blurted. When she opened the door Arian was smiling at her.

“Oh… Hi. What brings you here?”

“I want to show you something. Come on.” he waved his hand to follow him.

“Sure.”

Arian led her through the forest. It was obvious that Arian knew the way well or else they´ve got lost. The forest was pretty deep. After long time they finally stopped.

“Wait here for a moment. I´ll be right back.” Arian left Eunis at the edge of dense forest. In front of her was small clearing. It was fascinating. Green grass has been quilted with small flowers of various colors. It looked like a soft carpet. The air was filled with sweet scent. Eunis never seen place like this.

“This is AWESOME. How did you find it here?”

Arian was kneeling in front of one bush on the other side of the clearing.

“I just found it when I wandered around the forest. Almost there…”

Eunis wondered what he was doing. After a while he stood up and went back to Eunis, holding something in his arms. When he got closer she realized that he was holding tiny animal. It was green ball of fur with long ears and bushy tail, both adorned with dark stripes. Big brown eyes looked around fearfully. It was little Morphix.

“Aw… It´s adorable. It helped you to find this place?”

“Well… Kinda. I found him about a year ago. I found out that he was alone so I made him company. Every evening he returned here to hide to the bushes until the morning. We became really good friends, but something happened and he is always scared now. It looks like I scare him and I don´t know why. I am not good with animals and I thought that maybe you are. Can you help me?”

Eunis nodded. “Let’s see what I can do.”

She closely examined the small fur ball. At the first sight it looked to be alright, but then she noticed small cuts and strangely bent right front leg. Eunis carefully took plush paw in the hand. She had to avoid sharp claws.

“Careful! They are tiny but really sharp. Trust me.” Arian warned her.

“Yeah, I know. I just forgot it. So… this is young Morphix. It´s female because it has green fur. Males are more like brown. I suppose she is about two years old. And if you look closely you can see small cuts and strangely bent right front leg. It looks on fracture. She maybe fell from tree to some thorny bush, I guess. We´ve got to clean the cuts and fixate the leg.”

Arian was patting small animal on head.

“Ok. So… It´s a girl, huh? What should we name her?” Arian thought for a moment than he shrugged. “Nothing I can think of. And what about you?”

Eunis looked into big brown eyes.

“Karmisha.” she said simply.

“Karmisha?”

“Yep, Karmisha. This was the second suggestion of my name. Eunis means ´found´ and Karmisha ´adopted´. It seemed like a good idea to me. What do you say?”

“I think it´s genial. But we rather go now. We need to take care of her.”

On their way home they discussed different possibilities of Karmisha´s treatment. In the end they agreed that they´ll spread her paw with an extract of Borthensis, which was local medicinal herb, and they´ll fixate the leg with splints and bandages. When they returned to her house, Erin blocked the door.

“Where were you?! I was looking for you everywh… What on earth is it?!” Erin yelped and shakily pointed at Karmisha.

“It´s Karmisha.” Eunis explained.

“She is my friend and she is hurt. She needs a treat.” Arian added.

“No way! I will not tolerate any wild animals in my house. It could bring here flees or who knows what else.” Erin refused to let them in.

“Karmisha is hurt and she needs a treat!” Arian started shout. He looked pretty angry. His voice was strong but he sounded little desperately. “So, if you don´t want to help us, at least move away.”

Erin was shocked. She was staring at him for a while but then she moved out from the door.

“Thanks.” retorted Arian.

Eunis turned to Erin: “We´ll need an extract of Borthensis. Where can I find it?”

“The rest of it is in the kitchen. Top shelf.” she answered shortly. Eunis went to the kitchen and took a small battle and from drawer she pulled out some splints and bandages. Karmisha was lying on bed and Arian was sitting by her.

“Alright. I have everything I need. Now, I need your help.”

Arian gave her skeptic look.

“Don´t worry. It won´t be so difficult. I need you to hold her. Tight. So we don´t have to avoid her claws or teeth. Hold her legs and under head. Be careful. Make sure that she can breathe.” Arian did what he was asked.

“Great. Ok. Now… sorry but it will hurt a little bit.” Eunis grabbed her paw and started to spread it with an extract of Borthensis. Karmisha started to wail in pain and struggle, but Arian reduced her chances to move. After a while Karmisha gave up and just bared her teeth and growled. In the end Eunis fixated the leg with splints and bandages.

“Done. You can let her.” Arian willingly obeyed. At the moment that Karmisha realize that no one is holding her, she clumsily stood up and she tried to run away. But the fixed leg won´t let her make another step and she toppled over. She whined as she tried to stand up again. Arian took her in his arms, even if she struggled, and began whispering in her ears. Karmisha suddenly froze, staring straight ahead.

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 3.

Since the previous chapter was pretty long I decided to make this one a bit shorter.... Hope you enjoy :D

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was dead quiet. Just Arian was still talking quietly. Karmisha started to close her eyes. Eunis carefully stood up. She went to the kitchen and took shallow wicker basket. When she returned to her room, she put the basket on the floor next to the bed. Then she looked to closet and took some blankets. Karmisha already fell asleep. Eunis quietly gestured for him to put her in there. He nodded and gently laid her in the basket. They sneaked out of the room and closed the door. They sat on the doorstep of the front door.

“Thank you very much. Without you, she could die.” Arian said quietly.

Eunis smiled little: “It was nothing. If you didn´t bring her I wouldn´t be able to help.” Then she frowned little bit. “Anyway… what were you saying her?”

Arian was looking forward. His face was sad: “That was part of my mom´s lullaby. She sang it to me before sleep.” He hardly holds tears.

“What happened?”

Arian wiped his eyes with the back of his hand and smiled sweetly. “Nothing.” Eunis saw sadness in his eyes, but she smiled back anyway. Arian stood and looked up at the sky. “There is still lot of time till the lunch. What if I teach you the next dance? “

“Sounds good.” Eunis also stood and followed Ariana way to a nearby clearing.

“Don´t laugh at me! That´s not funny.” Eunis shout him down. Arian was writhed with laughter. Eunis stood up and offended crossed her arms over her chest. “Sorry. Try again. “ he encouraged her once he caught his breath. Eunis sighed and tried unsuccessful part of the dance. But at the same part she tripped over again and fell down.

“See? I told you.” She said sadly and sat down.

“It´s not anything hard. The beginning is the same as from the before. And then you won´t go forward here, but you take two steps back. Then you jump, turn and bow.” He showed her his words. Eunis was impressed by the lightness of his moves. They tried it together. Step by step. But she fell again.

“See, I´ll never learn this part.” Eunis felt clumsy and stupid.

“Don´t worry.” he gave her an encouraging smile. “It´ll maybe take more time, but you´ll see. Tomorrow it´ll be much better.” Eunis nodded and they try it again. They were too busy with dancing that they didn´t notice that was already lunch time. Until the singing of Armis brought them back to reality. His sweet voice floated through the woods like the sound of the flute of moon Goddess Artemis, which was made from the very moon rock. According to her, the bird was also named. It is said that when misery and poverty ruled in the village, Artemis helped them. Thanks to her village was again filled with joy and singing. In return, villagers gave her beautiful and rare bird from the local forests. But he could not sing. It was completely silent. Goddess took pity on him. She put into his neck a part of her flute. Since then, every Armis sing a melody that Artemis though them. His singing also serves as a reminder of her noble act. Armis sings only once or twice per day, so his voice won´t become common-place. Eunis looked back. In the crown of high Plantago she saw the brightly colored feathers of Armis. Eunis been kidnapped by his beauty. Armis honored them by last known tunes, he flapped his wings and disappeared into the trees.

“He is gorgeous.”

“He is. It´s pretty late. I think we dance enough for today. After lunch, come to the statue. I want to show you my favorite place.”

“But I still must practice.”

“Come on. You are good. And even training should not overdo it.” Eunis hesitated for a moment but then she nodded.

“You´re right. I´ll see you later.”

Eunis was humming Armis´s melody. She didn´t even noticed dark yellow eyes from behind bushes.

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 4.

Another chapter... YAY! I hope you enjoyed the previous one and I want to thank you, that you are here with me. It really mean a lot for me :D

This one will be little longer too, but I must make the mood ;-p

———————————————————————————

When she came home Erin was waiting for her with set table. There were mostly some kind of berries and fruits. Eunis sat opposite Erin. During the lunch was awkward silence. She was probably still angry about Karmisha.

´Karmisha. I almost forgot about her.´ Eunis ate as fast as she could, but she did not want to arouse suspicion. She hid some berries into her palms. Erin didn´t notice. When they finished their meal, Eunis thanked her and went to her room. Karmisha was awake but she still in the basket. She started whine friendly and wagging her tail. Eunis knelt down next to her and patted her head.

“I brought you something to eat.” she showed her the berries. Karmisha licked and began to hungrily eat.

“You're pretty hungry, aren´t you?” Eunis smiled. “How is your leg? Doesn´t it hurt?“ she gently stroked bandaged paw. Karmisha hissed in warning.

“Sorry.” she apologized. Then she had an idea.

“Wait a minute. I'll get you something for the pain.” she said, and went to look into Erin's back garden. There grew a variety of herbs. While she was searching between the flower beds and then found what she was looking for. Orange leafs of Malva. It is herb which inhibits pain and also has good taste. Unfortunately it is hard to find it. It´s 7 cm high plant with orange leafs with significant yellow veining and hem. There are just few elves that have this plant. Erin was luckily one of them. Eunis tore out few leafs and returned into her room through the back door. When Karmisha smelled sweet scent of Malva, her eyes brightened.

“I see that you know what it is” she said smiling. She gave her the leafs and sat on the bed. Karmisha started to chew them immediately in order to get the healing juice of them as soon as possible. When she was done Eunis patted her head and went for an appointment. Arian was waiting for her. He was leaning against tree trunk looking at the clouds. Before she could say anything, Arian gave her a worried look.

”How is Karmisha? It still hurts her?”

“Don´t worry. She's okay.” she said. “I gave her something to eat and against occasional pain. Soon she will be just fine.” Arian was greatly relieved.

“That's good. I thank you very much.”

“It was nothing.” she felt that she blushed, so she quickly added: “Where do you wanted to take me?” His eyes lit up.

“It will be a more demanding path, but it will be worth it.” he said with that mischievous smile.

Firstly they went across a large meadow, then along a small stream and then through deep forest. At first they turned to the left, then go straight, then right, left, straight, left, right, and thus still zigzagging through the forest.

“How can you orientate here?” she wondered. “It all looks the same.” Arian shrugged.

“I don´t know. I just do.”

After a long time they finally came out of the forest and in front of them was a high rock. Near them was meandered narrow path leading to a rocky platform.

“There is our goal.” he pointed a finger at it. Eunis stared fearfully at the high point.

“I probably can´t handle this.”

“Why wouldn´t you make it?” Arian asked.

“I'm afraid of heights.” she kept her eyes on the platform, which was at least 50 meters above the ground.

“Just don´t look down and it´ll be fine.” he advised.

“O-ok. I'll try it.”

They went on a path that leads around the perimeter of the rock. They walked slowly. The way was long. Eunis was afraid. Arian went ahead to find out the state of the path. She was nearly in half, when she felt under her feet how part of the path burst and Eunis screaming slid off the path. Fortunately, she grabbed the edge.

“Arian!” she cried. “Help!”

Arian ran as fast as he could. When he saw how Eunis was hanging down, he froze.

“Please help me. I can´t hold much longer.”

Eunis felt that the path under his weight was cracking. In a moment she will fall.

“Give me your hand. I'll pull you up.”

She grabbed the offered hand and let him pull her up. When she again stood on solid ground, she sighed with relief. They stand still for a moment. Then Arian took courage and looked down. Far below them was a pile of rocks, which a moment ago broke away from the path. Eunis grabbed his arm and pulled him back.

“Do not go to the edge. You can fall, too.” she said in a calmer but still trembling voice. “I wouldn´t be able to pull you up. And thanks.”

“It was nothing. Mainly, that nothing happened to you.” his voice was already calm and confident, but his eyes still show horror they had just seen.

“Do you dare for the rest of the way, or we go back?” he asked cautiously. Eunis studied the remaining about 20 meters in front of her.

“It's just a bit. I'll stick to the wall, and hopefully it will be okay.” Arian smiled. “But you can´t leave me.” she said seriously. Arian put his right hand over his heart.

“I promise I'll still be by your side.” and bowed.

“Alright.” She nodded and they carefully continued at their path. They were stick to the wall and walked lightly. The path seemed endless. After a long time they reached the rocky platform. Eunis looked around. It offered her an incredible view. She saw from the Dralin mountains to the Coast of Naravan´s Sea. Because of twilight the sky had a pinkish color and alpenglow floated on it. It was beautiful. Half of the island was at your fingertips.

“It is amazing here. How did you…” but when she turned around, she didn´t see him. Instead of him, she glimpsed huge enter to big cave.

“Arian, are you in there?” He didn´t respond. She slowly approached the entrance to the cave. Suddenly she heard slow, muffled footsteps.

“Arian?” she asked, even though she had feeling that it´s not him. To the steps was added heavy breathing. Eunis backed away. She didn´t know who or what it is, nor where Arian is. The creature slowly approached. From the darkness of the cave emerged a huge paw with sharp claws. Eunis had to cover her mouth with her hand to avoid screaming. Subsequently began to take shape of monster's head. Huge snout high above the ground, wide mouth full of sharp teeth, small eyes and pointed ears. He growled angrily and got closer to Eunis, who was still backing away. She tripped over a rock and fell. She was so terrified that she could not stand up again. She sat on the ground and watched the animal, which was taking shape in the light of the setting sun. It stopped just before her. It studied Eunis paralyzed with fear. The animal opened its mouth and stuck out his long, thin tongue. Eunis terrified stared directly into its mouth, but she couldn´t move. She watched its huge mouth with long, sharp teeth approaching her. She closed her eyes. However, instead of fangs on her face she felt wet and sticky tongue. She opened her eyes and wiped her wet face. The animal looked at her once more closely at and lay down. Eunis didn´t understand what was happening. She was still sitting on the ground and bewildered watching the creature. Then Arian came out from behind. He looked at frightened Eunis and began to laugh loudly. Eunis looked at him in disbelief. Then she returned her attention to the huge animal. Arian wiped his teary eyes and helped Eunis up.

“You should see your face.”

“What do you mean?” she asked, but she didn´t leave her sight of the animal. Arian scratched animal behind the ears and it wagged its tail happily. Eunis already occurred, what Arian thought.

“You miserable bastard!” she scolded. “You did it on purpose. You will see. Wait till you get in my hands!” Eunis clenched her fist and strutted resolutely to Arian. The animal was faster. It conceal Arian with its head, he bared his teeth and growled. Eunis backed away with fright.

“Calm down, big boy. We were just playing.” he soothed it.

“But I meant it.” she muttered to herself. When the animal stopped growling, Arian pointed to Eunis.

“Well, this is Eunis. My friend so be nice to her.” Then he looked at the Eunis.

“And this is Tarlok.”

“Also your friend?” she asked indignantly.

“Yes, he's my friend. And don´t be mad anymore.” he pleaded. “It was just fun.”

“It wasn´t SUCH fun to me.” she said angrily. “He scared me to death!” she pointed to Tarlok.

“Firstly, I almost fell off the rock and then this. That I'd rather didn´t stay at home.” she turned offended.

“Sorry then. I just wanted to introduce you. I didn´t know you would be so scared of him.”

“Sure.” she said. “Who could be frightened by two meters tall monster with a huge mouth full of sharp teeth. After all, he is actually quite cute if it will not eat you.” she added sarcastically.

“Come on.” he pleaded. “Just look at him.” he hugged Tarlok around the neck. Tarlok tried to look sadly at her, but with those tiny, matt white eyes he wasn´t successful. Small ears were coiled backwards. Big black snout was slowly inhaling the warm air. Long teeth were gleaming ominously. Lower canine teeth were even so large that they overgrow the upper jaw. He looked scary indeed. Huge front paws with four fingers terminated by sharp slightly curved claws were folded under his head. His body was massive and long. His dense brown-gray fur looked rough. Eunis gathered her courage and put her hand to his side. She was surprised. His fur was in fact very soft. Almost like sheep wool. From the forehead over the back until the middle of the tail he dragged a narrow dark stripe. On the sides dragged other smaller strips from the strip. Arian looked at Eunis quizzically. She scratched Tarlok behind the ears. He began wagging his tail happily. She smiled.

“I have to admit, he's really nice.” Arian grinned triumphantly.

“See, I told you he is cool. Although it looks dangerous, but at heart he's good.” Suddenly from somewhere from below came muffled screams. Eunis and Arian winced. Tarlok startled stood up. From the forest beneath them took off a bevy of frightened birds.

“What - what was that?” Eunis asked.

“I don´t know.” Arian said. Tarlok moved his ears in an attempt to capture more sounds. He started slowly backing away to the cave. Arian looked worried.

“Whether it is whatever, it scared even Tarlok and that's not good. He is not easy to scare.”

“Oh no.” Eunis gasped in horror.

“What?”

Eunis pointed to where another bevy took off.

“There ... is ... our village.”

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 5.

After a week I am back :) This week was the school pretty hectic so I am sorry for possible mistakes :-p

———————————————————————————

Arian  paled in horror. There was another scream. Tarlok froze and sniffed. Then he turned and disappeared into in the cave.

„We need to know what is happening there.“ He said hastily. He went to the narrow path they had come. Eunis followed him.

“We can´t go this way.” he said. “It would take a long time, and we could fall. We must find another way.”

”But there is no another way out” Eunis moaned. “We're trapped.”

“Not really.” he added hopefully. “Many times I saw Tarlok in the woods. He was hunting birds there. So he first had to get down. And he would never get there by this one very narrow path, so ...”

“... there must be some other way for him in the cave.” she finished his sentence.

“Exactly.” he said enthusiastically.

“But we will have to find it first.” she said despondently.

“Don´t worry. I´m sure that Tarlok will help.” he told her. But when he looked back, he saw that Tarlok had disappeared in the cave. Eunis and Arian looked at each other and ran into the cave. It was a dark and damp. From somewhere in the distance, a cool breeze was blowing. They went straight along the wall. Every now and then they tripped over some rock. Once their eyes adjust to the darkness, they saw another three entrances into the dark tunnels.

“Cool. And where to now?” she sighed.

“Tarlok! Hey Tarlok! Help us find the way out!” called Arian. His voice echoed eerily. Then silence. From one of the tunnels could be heard thundering footsteps. After a moment Tarlok emerged from the middle tunnel. He nodded to them to follow him, he turned and went back through the tunnel. Eunis and Arian ran after him. They had to walk fast to keep up with his long strides. The tunnel was still darker and darker and began to meander. There were also a few crossroads. If they went just themselves, they would get lost, but Tarlok knew exactly where is he going and where to go. The air was heavy and humid with an admixture of mould. They thought that they really got lost when he turned into the tunnel at the end of which they saw the long sought light. They had to cover their eyes to avoid blindness. Outside, they could finally breathe fresh air.

„Thanks Tarlok.” she said appreciatively and patted his side. Moments of enthusiasm did not last long. Again the desperate cries and calls for help.

“We need to hurry to the village.” Eunis suggested. “But where are we?” she asked, looking around. Arian also looked around.

“We are on the edge of the Cornwood forest.” he said.

“But that´s so far.” Eunis moaned. “We won´t get there before sunset. And that's probably too late. You do know any abbreviation or something, right?” she asked with hope, but also with a hint of desperation in his voice. Arian shook his head. Eunis felt helpless. And she hated this feeling. A mixture of helplessness and fear. Arian was scared too. Although he didn´t show it and probably he wouldn´t admit it. But in his eyes was confusion and fear. His thoughts were interrupted by Tarlok. He poked him with his nose, almost making him fall. Then he lay down beside them. Eunis had to smile.  How could she not think of it before?

“I think that he offers us a lift.”

Arian also couldn´t help but smile too and hugged him around the neck. So they climbed on his back and clutched his long fur. Tarlok stood up and began to run. They had to hold really tight so they won´t fall. On how he is large, he is incredibly fast. And so they soon found themselves on the edge of the village.

“Here you can stop” Arian told him. Tarlok obediently slowed down to a complete stop. He lay down for them to be able to dismount. Eunis scratched him behind the ears in thanks and Arian patted his neck.

“You'd better go home now, buddy. They could get frighten by you as Eunis here, but this time it might not end well.” He said worried. Tarlok licked both with his long tongue. He got up and ran home. Eunis listened. Silence. No screaming or other sounds. Arian was confused. He crouched down and walked toward the village. Eunis followed him. Then he quietly hid behind a bush, which grew by one of the houses. Pushing a few leaves away for a better view. The sight was horrible. Lots of houses were demolished, all over the ground were barrels, containers and various other things. But they didn´t see anyone.

“We are late.” Arian whispered and mesmerized staring at the mess. Eunis felt her tears roll down her cheeks. Their home was destroyed, their friends and family might be dead. Who could do such a thing? Eunis ran out from behind the bushes into the middle of the village. Watery eyes helplessly looking around to see if see could catch sight of anyone. Not a soul.

“Hello! Is anybody here? Answer me!” she cried desperately, her voice shaking. No answer. Arian walked after her and put his arm around her shoulders. Eunis leaned into him and cried. Arian returned her the hug. He couldn´t understand why their village was attacked. It was an ordinary village. It wasn´t rich in silver, gold or anything else. So... why? From the gloomy thoughts he was interrupted by a soft voice. Eunis probably also heard it, because he started to look around.

„Did you hear that?” she asked, wiping her eyes. Arian released her and nodded.

“Hello?!” As answer was a low moan. “Where are you?” Again a faint sound. It was coming from somewhere on the other side of the village. So they went to the place where they heard the call. They reached the half destroyed house, which belonged blacksmiths Sankore. All sorts of tools were lying on the ground. Embers from the fire were strewn across the floor, make it black-stained. In the left rear corner of the room they saw a hand that pounded the ground in an attempt to call for help. The rest of him was littered with debris. They began to clear away blocks of stone and wooden beams that once formed the walls and roof. It gave them a lot of work. The stones were heavy and they had to be careful not to make the stones to fall on him. After a long effort finally pulled the poor guy.

“You okay?” Eunis asked and examined the extent of his injuries. His face was all grimy from soot, clothes were tattered and stained with blood. He was rubbing his left arm gently.

“It will be fine. It just hurts a little.” He hissed when she touched the arm.

“Sankore? I almost didn´t recognize you.” she said in surprise and studied him closely. Only now she noticed his sharp features of his face and his usual cheerful, light green eyes were now sad and empty. His eyes confusedly flitted around the room, which previously was his home.

“What happened here?” Arian asked and paced around a former smithy. It was almost dark, but he noticed odd tracks that were left by someone on the soot-stained floor. Sankore glanced around the ruins of the village.

„We were attacked.” His voice trembled. He stared straight ahead. His expression was blank.

“But by whom? The raiders from south?“ Arian asked. Sankore shook his head.

“It wasn´t them. We know their style and weapons. We could beat them. Moreover they are slow. But they... they were fast, nimble and strong. They were like shadows. They had about two meters, long tail with sharp thorns, mouth full of teeth, deadly weapons and impenetrable armor. Their dark scaly skin blend in with the forest. They couldn´t be stopped. One of them jumped on me and knocked me back. I can still see those dark yellow eyes staring at me hungrily. Fortunately, I managed to shake him off and get into the house. Then they demolished it.”

Eunis was watching at him in awe. She couldn´t imagine such horror. Arian broke the silence.

“What did they want? We don´t even know them, so what was their reason?” he asked.

“Who knows.” Sankore said simply.

“Where are the others” Eunis remembered.

“Most managed to escape into the woods and hide there. But some were captured and taken away. We can only imagine what they did with them.” Suddenly Sankore twisted in a painful spasm and groaned quietly.

“Arian, try to find a house of Paran. As a healer he should have some ointments. Bring them to me, please.” she said. Arian nodded and ran across the village.

“It will be fine. I'm fine.” Sankore was persuading her.

“You have extensive injuries. And I'm not talking about those inside. I'm surprised you're still alive.”

”Well, you know. Blacksmiths like I have taken deep root.” He joked.

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 6.

Hi everyone :-) I hope you enjoyed the last part. Here comes the next one :D

———————————————————————————

After a while Arian returned with an armful of different bottles and packages.

“I did not know what was going to come in handy, so I took it all.” he folded them in front of Eunis, who began studied them. She carefully examined the writings of individual receptacles. Each contained a different amount of different fluids. Her attention was caught by one glass and brightly decorated bottle. Medicine in it was only at the bottom. When she turned, she saw neatly described by name label of the content.

“Look. Extract from Bortensis.” she smiled. “It will come in han....”

“Karmisha.” whispered Arian.

“Oh dear. I totally forgot about her.” she gasped. Arian turned and scuttled toward the house, where they left her. Eunis got up and ran after him.

“I´ll be back soon. Don´t go anywhere.” she called over her shoulder at Sankore. He had tried to sign her with a wave in approval, but then he twisted with painful spasms. Arian was standing in front of house when she caught up with him. They stared in disbelief at the remains of the front wall. Eunis felt chills ran down her spine. Her home. Arian stepped toward the door. He gently pushed them. The door cracked open with a creak and then fell to the ground with a thud. Cloud of dust was lifted from the ground. He slowly passed through into a dusty room. Eunis followed him slowly. Things were scattered on the ground. The furniture was broken and moved. It was hardly recognizable, it was the kitchen before. Eunis can´t believe her eyes. Who would do this? Then they went through the right door to her room. Arian stiffened. He stared at the pile of rocks beside the bed. Eunis go to look there too. She covered her mouth with her hand. One of quilts they gave Karmisha to the basket was peeping out from under a pile of debris. Then she turned to Arian. He clenched his fists tightly and closed his eyes. Upon his face a tear rolled down. He took a deep breath to calm himself. Suddenly the wind picked up. It blew through the empty window shutters and a ruined roof. Gently and quietly. It ruffled Arian´s hair and was fiddling with blue silk of Eunis´s dress. But it strengthened. Eunis put her hand on his shoulder. He looked at her.

“I'm so sorry.” she said, tears in corners of her eyes. Arian nodded sadly, but then he suddenly tensed. The wind abated, and then stopped to blow completely.

“What the ...” she said, but Arian had has gestured to her to be quiet. Then she heard it too. Weak scratching of small claws.

“You hear that?” he asked. She nodded. A quiet whine was added to the scratching. It was coming from under the bed. Arian knelt down and looked under the dusty wooden frame. For a moment he looked around there, then he fumbled with his hands there.

“Can you lift the bed little? I can´t fit there.” he asked her. Eunis raised the bed as high as she could, but even so, the difference amounted to only a few centimeters. It was heavier than it seemed. Arian´s upper half of the body disappeared under the bed.

“Hurry.” she insisted. “I can´t hold it much longer.”

“Don´t let go. It will be in a moment.” he assured her. After a moment he truly came out with a ball of gray in his arms. Once he was at a safe distance, she dropped the bed on the floor. Clouds of dust lifted, and all three choked. When the dust sat down, she saw what Arian was holding. Eunis smiled with a delight. Arian had held Karmisha. She was a gray from dust, but otherwise she fine. He was clutching her tightly to his chest, nearly crushed her. Eunis patted her hip. A pale green stripe of original color appeared in a gray fur. Karmisha shook the dust off. When she finished, she was again beautifully lush green. But Eunis with Arian were now whole dirty. But they didn´t mind at all. Mainly, Karmisha was fine. They came out in front of the house to take a breath of fresh air. Arian laid Karmisha down and started dusting himself. Eunis she looked at her bandaged leg. Carefully she removed the bandage and splint. Karmisha slightly stood on the injured leg. She quietly whimpered and limped to Arian.

“It looks good.” she said. “Only a few days and will be completely healed.” Arian looked thoughtfully at Karmisha that rubbed against his legs.

“I wonder how she managed to get under the bed with that hurt leg.” Eunis shrugged.

“We should go after Sankore.” she said. “I still have to look at his health.”

“That's right.” he agreed. He took Karmisha and went to the smithy. Sankore obediently sat in his place in front of a ruined smithy. He held his left arm and was saying something quietly. It had simple but nice melody. The words rhymed. Eunis with Arian sat beside him and listen to his melodious voice.

During recitation he was looking at the sky, but once he finished, he looked at his audience, smiling. Then his gaze turned to the small ball in Arian's arms.

“So this was the second emergency patient?” he asked, stroking her soft fur.

“Her name is Karmisha.” Arian said. “It´s a cub of Morphix and a good friend of mine. In the morning I found her injured, but Eunis cured her. I dare to say that you are now in very good hands.” Eunis blushed and blacksmith gave her a warm smile.

“Don´t mention it. Now I see how I can help you.”

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 7.

Hi guys. It´s me again :-P Hope you enjoyed the previous part. I know it was bit short, but don´t worry :-) I´ll try to make this one longer.

———————————————————————————

When Eunis properly fixed his arm, he tried to stand, but his stiff legs buckled. Arian gave Eunis Karmisha.

“Hold her. I'll help him get up.” he buttressed blacksmith. Although Sankore was pretty heavy, Arian didn´t have to put a great effort to it.

“What was the poem which you said earlier? It sounded very nice.” she asked. Sankore laughed.

“It wasn´t just an ordinary poem. It was a prayer. To Mykénai so we would be safe again and could rejoice.” they walked slowly into the middle of the village. Several elves have returned from the forest. They stood in a huddle before the house of their headman. Perhaps they wanted to report the damage. Among them was also the blacksmith´s woman. As soon as she saw them, she threw her arms around Sankore´s neck, nearly knocking him over. She thanked the pair and took her husband aside. A moment later the headman appeared in the doorway. He was dressed in the traditional robe. He looked worried and tired eyes scanned the small crowd. He raised his hands to establish calmness. Everyone quieted.

“Are there any elves in the forest?” he asked. He had a hoarse voice.

“Our patrols are still searching for them.” said one elf. “If there is still someone they will find them and bring them to the village.” The headman nodded.

“Many brave elves were dragged into captivity. Despite this sad event we have to finish the celebration of the Blue moon.” A commotion occurred. There were various protests.

“Calm down, please.” he shouted in a loud voice. “I know it is hard for some of you, but we have no choice. If the ritual does not take place we will be vulnerable. Days like this could happen again.”

“And who actually attacked us? “a voice came from the crowd.

“It is not known yet. We do not know the assailants, which direction they came, nor why they came here. What is certain is that they have no mercy. They're bloodthirsty creatures who are versed in their skills. If we do not want them to meet again, we will have to start the celebration. Until the arrival of the Blue moon remained only few days. Sankore, take a couple of elves and put into repairs. Paran, you and the other healers treat the wounded. Dastan, find out who is missing. And the rest of you continue the preparations for the celebration.” he ordered and returned to the house.

The crowd broke up into groups that began to work hard. Eunis joined healers and Arian helped with repairs. The village was flooded in the soft orange light of flaming torches. Darkness fell at the forest. The sky was clear and the landscape was lit by crescent moon. It wasn´t until late in the night, when all tiredly lay down. Some elves were already able to return to newly built homes, but most had to have recourse to his friends. Eunis stood in front of her house. Some walls have been already repaired, but to stay there was still impossible. She didn´t have any friends or family members, to which she might hide. Vainly she looked around, that she might catch a glimpse of Erin. She is friend with everyone and she would certainly find someone to stay with. But she was nowhere to be found. Suddenly she saw Arian coming. She waved to him. He waved back and walked faster.

“How is Karmisha?” she asked as already he stood next to her.

“More than good.” his face lit up happily. “She sleeps in my home and it seems that she's all right.” “I'm so glad. I guess it was just twisted.” she said. Arian grinned, but when his gaze fell upon a destroyed house, his face grew sad.

“Perhaps now you have nowhere to live, right? Your house was probably in the path of the unknown invaders. Fortunately, I live on the other edge of the village, so the house wasn´t destroyed. So I want to ask you if you want to maybe sleep out with me.”

“That would be nice. Thank you.” she smiled.

Then they turned and headed for the Arian´s house. It was really in a remote part. There wasn´t much houses, but they were slightly larger and even nicer than in the village center. Arian's house was perhaps the largest. It had stone walls and a thatched roof. Lots of small windows were regularly stationed. It seemed that it even has two floors. Beside the house was a small garden with different plants. Above the door hung a small bell. Eunis looked over it. It was made of a dark iron, almost black. Probably it was poured into the mold, because she noticed a thin seam on the side of the bell. Edge was nicely decorated with engraved ornaments. Different waves and spirals form a regular line. Inside was hanging mallet, possibly from the same material. Bell slightly hung over the door, so when Arian opened the door, the bell rang powerfully.

“It's a little insurance.” he explained. “When someone tries to reach us, we´ll hear it. Moreover, the bell is black, so in the dark no one would notice. Welcome to our home.” he gestured her to enter.

The housing was very nicely decorated. It felt comfortable, but also airy. On the right was a large kitchen, next to which was rectangular oak table with four chairs. It seemed very nice. At the second wall there was a large library and a wicker rocking chair. On the walls were fastened a few paintings with landscapes. The house had really two floors. Instead of a wall, which should be opposite the door, a spiral wooden staircase soar. It probably led to the bedrooms. Stairs were directed to the right side. Behind them there was hiding a living room. It wasn´t much to see nevertheless Eunis saw a large fireplace and a cornice full of candlesticks and vases. In some were flowers. From the fireplace embers still gleamed gently illuminating the room.

“You have it really nice here.” she said appreciatively.

“I'm glad you like it here.”

“Good thing that the invaders missed it. It would be a shame if they demolished it. What they were looking for?”

“I'll tell you why they were here.” said a voice behind them. They turned in shock. At the door was a young elf. Could be a little older than Arian.

„I'll never understand how you can come without ever rang the bell.” said Arian. Elf had not been paying the slightest attention to him. He looked only at Eunis. His green eyes glared Eunis straight in the eye.

“You know, why come here?” he asked. Eunis shook her head. She was afraid of him.

“I'll tell you. They came because of you.” he pointed a finger at her.

“Me?” she asked in a shaky voice.

“The whole village is turned upside down because they wanted you.” the elf said with cold and accusatory tone. “You have something they want and they'll take it no matter what it costs.”

“But I don´t have anything!” she shouted. “I didn´t take anything from them. I don´t even know them.”

“But they do know you.” he held a crumpled piece of paper before her eyes. Eunis stared at him with her mouth open. It was drawn her portrait. Although there was a small, but it was her.

“They're looking for you.” he said quietly. Arian, who just watched in astonishment until now, snatched the paper from his hand.

“What are you talking about? Where'd you get it?”

“I took it from one of them when he was not looking.” he replied tersely. Arian looked at the Eunis. She still stood there and looked mindlessly ahead.

“You okay?” Arian asked. Eunis was about to respond, but before she could say anything, her knees gave way and she fell unconscious to the ground. Arian immediately knelt beside her.

“Eunis? Hello. Can you hear me? Wake up.” he shook with her. Eunis still lay limply on the ground.

“Thus really did pretty well.” he snapped to the other elf. He shrugged.

“Is it true? It is. Someone had to tell her.”

“At least help me to take her to your room, you truthful.”

The elf rolled his eyes, but then he helped him carry Eunis into one of the rooms on the second floor.

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 8.

Sorry, guys. This took more time than I expected. I also had to learn whole periodic table for today´s test, so I had no time to translate or post anything. Hope you don´t mind and you´ll accept this as my apology.

———————————————————————————

She saw a village. It was in the middle of the forest. She spotted a group of elves how they confused run here and there, trying to hide. Some of them scream. It was a horrifying scene. Then there appeared strange shadows. Without a shape, but it had white fangs and yellow hostile eyes. They looked scary. Probably because of them the others fled. One of those shadows caught one elf and cut his throat. Elf immediately fell to the ground. There was blood everywhere. In one corner of the ruined room she saw an elf woman in a blue dress, cowering in fear and trying to soothe a crying baby. It has also blue dress. It was her daughter. Suddenly there appeared bright white silhouette. Despite all the glow she didn´t know who it is. Bright light flooded near area. The dark shadows hissed menacingly and disappeared. Sep light subsided. The figure turned slowly. Eventually she stopped. Eunis saw her face. Still slightly radiate white light. Her bright green eyes showed goodness and love, suddenly turned yellow and showed hatred and evil. The figure smirked mischievously, bared her huge fangs and lunged at Eunis.

Then a sharp pain cut through her mind. She opened her eyes and sat up, fast breathing. She must lay down again. Her head was spinning like crazy.

´What the hell was that?´ When she calmed down, she tried to find some sense in it. The pain subsided and Eunis sat up slowly. She looked around. At first she didn´t know where she is, but then she remembered. She was Arian´s at home. This is probably his room. Carefully she examined the room. On the left wall there stood a chest of drawers and a tall cabinet. On the right was a table with chair. He had furnished a small bookcase. On the table was a candlestick with almost burned candle. On the corner was a pile of books. Various papers, some described some other empty, were strewn across the table. In the middle the tangle of papers stood an inkwell. Beside him lay a white quill pen. Cut tip was black from ink. Eunis was overcome by curiosity. She got up and walked to the table. She looked at the books. There were five of them. Each is related to something else. Encyclopedia of forest and cave creatures, descriptions of the various tribes and warlords, astronomical manual, a magic book and ...... chronicle of their village. He probably got it in the library. Then she began to look through the papers. It looked as if he was searching for something. But he didn´t find it. She can´t orientate in his notes so went back to the Chronicle.

It was a big book with hard covers bonded in dark leather. On the front was written in gold ink Chronicle Larrawels forest. Eagerly she opened the book, flipping through lengthy articles. Then he came across one, which was already 600 years old. It was over two pages. Mysterious attacks and looting of the village. These words glowed in red ink. Other articles were written in classic black, but this one was whole written in red ink. It has to be about something very important. She decided to read it. There was described a situation of the village and the damage. It was incredibly coincided with yesterday. She found the testimony of witnesses of the horrific event. There were only a few. It was all the descriptions of the perpetrators. Eunis shivered. Black shadows with yellow glowing eyes, an impenetrable armor and with incredible power. Her heart was pounding faster. The same raiders as the previous evening and as in her dream. The attack was repeated. They were searching for something once before and they are looking for it now. What if it could really be her fault? Suddenly she heard muffled voices. She returned the book to the place and sat on the bed. A weak creaking of stairs to the second floor was added to the voices. They were approaching. It was Arian with the other elf. She almost forgot about him. A moment later she recognized what they say.

„Speak quietly.“ whispered Arian. „Maybe she is still asleep.”

„She has no right to be here.” said the other elf. Not bothering to lower his voice, plus there were anger in it.

„Why are you so rude to her? You don´t even know her.” Arian defended her.

„She doesn´t belong here.”

„How can you be so sure?”

„She is threat to us, and you know it.” Arian sighed, but said nothing. There was a soft knock and Arian stepped inside. His face was again with the nice smile, like when they first met. He took a chair from the table and sat next to the bed.

„So, how did you sleep?” he asked.

„I slept well, thank you. And I'm so sorry.”

„It was nothing.” he waved his hand. „He should have you apologize.” he pointed to the door. There stood the other elf.

He leaned his shoulder against the door frame. From beneath cropped blond hair, that fell across his forehead, appeared narrow and piercing, moss-green eyes, spitefully looking at her. Over his right eye, there was stretched thin, but quite a long scar. It ranged from the eyebrow to the middle of the face. Oval face with distinct cheekbones and sharp chin was frowning at her. His lips were pursed into a straight line. Hands crossed on his chest confirmed his unwillingness. Strap on his neck hung a large tooth. Certainly it belonged to a big animal. He was wearing a white linen shirt with wide sleeves and leather vest. Fingerless gloves had belted nearly halfway down the forearm. Loose pants were tucked in boots. On his back he has a quiver full of arrows and attached bow. A dagger on his belt.

„Come on, Luten. Apologize.” he said. Luten sighed and turned his gaze to the right corner.

„I'm sorry. I shouldn´t be so rude.” he said. It sounded forced, almost arrogantly. Arian was probably satisfied.

„You don´t know each other yet.” Arian spoke to break the silence. First, he pointed to Eunis.

„This is Eunis. My friend.“ he added firmly. „And this is Luten. My friend and roommate. We've known each other since childhood.”

„Nice to meet you, Luten.” Eunis said. Elf gave a snort, turned and walked down the stairs. Two eagle feathers were attached in his hair. Eunis stared at him.

„Excuse him, Eunis.” Arian asked. „He didn´t had it easy lately.” Eunis nodded. Arian looked at her gratefully.

„How long is he this... grumpy?” she asked carefully. Arian started to recalculate something on fingers.

„About eight… Yeah, eight or nine years.” Her eyes widened.

„Isn´t it a bit long time to use the term ´lately´, don´t you think?”

Arian hesitated, what to say, but Eunis didn´t let him answer.

„How can you stand him? I'd already moved out. Is he like this all the time?” Before he could say anything, he heard the muffled sound of the bell. It was not the doorbell. It was headman´s bell. Now he is summoning the meeting.

„We better go.” Arian said finally. When they came to the headman´s house, there was already rest of the village. The headman had his traditional robe as at the previous meeting. But he took a long wooden stick, which was decorated with various carvings. The stick emphasized the seriousness of the situation. He tapped with it at the ground to negotiate the quiet. Everyone fell silent.

„Dastan, did someone missing appeared?” he asked hopefully.

„Sorry, headman. Thirty elves are still missing.” said Dastan. Hope in the headmsn's face disappeared. Leaving only a sad and worried face.

„Alright. How are the repairs?”

„In a few days the village will be completely repaired.” The headman nodded.

„Are elves, who were injured already alright?”

„There are some serious injuries, but no one is in danger of life. Most have returned home.” The chief was greatly relieved.

But Eunis got nervous. Again she heard the words Luten said her yesterday. What if all this is happening really just because of her? But what do they want from her? She has nothing. She didn´t even know them. The question is rather from where they know her. And how do they know that she lives here? Her thoughts were broke by bustle around. There was talk of further progress in the defense of the village. Some suggested increasing the guards, others improve weapons. There was a proposal for the construction of walls. All variants have proven to be unrealistic. And to the celebration remained few days. During these, attackers will be able to come back anytime. Eunis had been clear. She turned and ran to her home. In the closet she found an old bag. She took a blanket and some food she found in the kitchen. She was about to leave when Arian blocked the way. She jumped back.

„Oh, you startled me. Don´t do this to me.” she scolded him.

„Where are you going?” he asked, looking at the bag.

„Just for a trip.” she brushed him off. Arian raised his eyebrows.

„Ok, you got me. I´m going away. Leaving the village.” she said.

„And why are you leaving?” he asked.

„I just don´t want to threaten anybody.” she explained. Arian already understood what was going on.

„You are still thinking about what Luten said yesterday? He didn´t mean it. Don´t take it so hard.” he told her.

„But he did. And he was right.”

„How do you know?”

„ You didn´t see his eyes.”

„What?”

„The eyes reveal more than one would think. I know it. And these were not the eyes of someone who's not serious.” she said. Arian looked at her confused.

„Now please back off.” she ordered. Arian conversely stood so she had no chance to pass.

„And where do you like to go?” he asked when he knew he lost. Eunis shrugged.

„Definitely it will be far away.” she added hastily. Arian thought for a moment.

„Then I suggest you go north, to Azzaret. Or south along Sarezs´ ravine. That leads to Kanterlot.” Eunis gave him a puzzled look.

„Oh.” he said slowly.

„You know what? Meet me after moment by the Mykénai statue. Deal? Don´t run away.” he said. Before she could answer, he was gone.

„Why not?” she said, actually for herself.

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 9.

Really sorry for late update... again. But our cottage got flood and we have to drive almost through the whole coutnry to get there because most of roads were under repairs. We were trying to save what´s left and somehow fix it. It took us almost half of a week. And we wrrived yesterday about 2 a.m. and I also must learn for some exams... So sorry it took longer than I thought, but here you go! Enjoy :-D

———————————————————————————

When she got to the statue, Arian wasn´t there yet. It was late morning. The sky still has pinkish hue. In this weather the statue has strange color. It was carved out of gray stone, but now it looked like she had normal skin. Almost alive. Just talk. Eunis looked Mykénai into her eyes. While were from the cold stone, Eunis saw sadness and fear, with some urgency.

´I guess I was dreaming.´ She assured herself. I'm tired and it is too much for me. But Mykénai disproved her conviction. Her eyes moved. They looked at the horizon. Eunis winced. She looked in the same direction as Mykénai. There grew a thick forest, behind which was a long strip of mountains. Behind one a mountain she saw protrudes a tower. It could belong to some castle or chateau. It was certainly far. Far to the west. Eunis again turned to Mykénai. Her sight was as before. Empty. She stared blindly ahead.

„I'm glad you waited here for me.” Arian emerged from the woods. „I'm sorry I took so long. I had to put Karmisha to sleep.” he explained. „That little creature didn´t want to stay home. And Luten wasn´t too excited about it too.”

„Why did you want to meet me here?” she asked. Arian laid his canvas bag he was carrying in his hand on the ground. For a moment he was rummaging in it and then he pulled out a folded piece of paper. He triumphantly showed it to Eunis and then decomposed it on a rock that lay off to the side. It was a map. It was full of colors and names that describe different places. Arian pointed to a small sketch of the castle. Beneath it was written Azzaret.

„This is the kingdom of Azzaret. I've got some friends, who would allow you to stay with them. Moreover there rules queen Selestia. I've heard that she's a good and generous. You would get work from her.” Then he turned his gaze on the bottom side of the map. „This is Sarezs ravine.” He ran his finger along a winding brown line. „But don´t be fooled. On the map it looks very small, in fact it is huge. Passing takes up to three days.” he pointed out. „It´ll leads you thee into Kanterlot Empire. There rules emperor Cronos. They say he is also very kind.” he explained. Eunis studied the symbol of Kanterlot. It was also castle just a little bit bigger than the Azzaret. He also had many more towers. Then her eyes slid to the west side of the map. Strange. Behind a strip of mountains she found a stain. As if the painter accidentally spilled paint there. Dark, satin black color. Beyond that, nothing. Map ended there.

„What's in here?” she asked curiously. Lightly shock flashed Arian's face, but quickly disappeared. It was replaced by nervousness.

„There's nothing there.” he said quickly.

„Why is there that stain? There's like the end of the world, or what?” she refused to be denied.

„I do not know. I found it in the library. Maybe it is an older map. Certainly there is nothing there. Probably just another mountains.” he said gruffly.

„So let's explore.” she said.

„That would be just a waste of time. There's nothing there.” Arian raised his voice to confirm his assertion.

„How do you know?”

„Do you see the map, don´t you? There is nothing. We could get lost.”

„You said it's an old map.” Arian was already angry.

„Does it matter how old it is? There's nothing there and DOT! We won´t talk about it.” Eunis was confused. But she didn´t let him intimidated her.

„You know something about that, right? What do you know about that?”

„Hey, I'm here with that to help you find your way and new place. I can just walk away if you want.” he snapped.

Eunis stopped. Why is he angry? Why didn´t he just says, what is there? It is possible that he really don´t knows? But that wouldn´t explain his behavior. Does she have to tell him what had happened before he arrived? Mykénai looked pretty urgent and desperate. Probably she will look like a fool.

„Mykénai wants us to go there.” she said slowly, watching Arian´s reaction. He looked at her uncomprehendingly. He didn´t believe her.

„I know you don´t believe me. You probably think I'm crazy.” she continued before he could say anything.

„But Mykénai wants us to go there. Before you came here, she looked to those mountains.” she pointed towards the tower.

„You see that tower? That is our goal.”

„Are you sure? I don´t mean to say that you invent it.” he added hastily, when he caught her gaze. „It's just that you do may seem. You've probably upset about what happened to the village. Or ...”

„Arian, please.” she interrupted him. She stared into his confused emerald eyes.

„You must trust me. I don´t know why we should go there. Maybe it has something to do with the attack.” she said urgently. „I don´t know how or why, but I feel that we should listen. She is our goddess. She protects us. You didn´t see her eyes. She was afraid. If you don´t want to go with me, than don´t. Just please, tell me, what is there and how to get there.” Arian did not know what to do. He looked Eunis into eyes. There were seen urgent plea for help. She begged him to not let her in it alone. She hoped for help. He saw in them also panic. Fear of rejection. Fear of what is waiting at that place. Yet he found some kind of determination. Eunis made up her mind. Now it was up to him to decide. He looked up at the horizon of the western mountains. He found high black tower stand out among the mountains. It looked to mysteriously ominous. Even from this distance it seemed to be impressive. His gaze then slid to a map in his hands. He stared at the black stain in the upper left corner.

„It's Forbidden territory.” he said quietly. Eunis stepped closer to him and looked at the western part of the map.

„According to legend, there lives a very bad elf. They say destroys everything and everyone who approach him. That tower could include his chateau or castle. But nobody knows for sure. Couple elves decided to investigate, but never returned.“ Eunis looked at him aghast.

„That's why you not want to me to say anything.” He nodded.

„ It doesn´t change anything on my decision.” she said in a tone that he rejected any resistance. Arian lost. Again. He had to smile about it. Twice a day he lost against inexperienced elf, while he diligently studied and practiced, so that someday he could get on post of headman. How ironic.

„Arian?” Arian cleared his throat and looked again seriously.

„To these Forbidden mountains leads many paths, only a few of them are right. A large majority of them leads through the forest. However, they are unused. A lot of them naturally overgrown with grass and bushes. You easily get lose. It is good to find someone who knows it there. A guide. Unfortunately, none of us here are familiar with those paths and I can´t think of anyone else. We'll have to ask someone local.” he paused. „Won't you reconsider it? Are you sure you want to go?” he asked worriedly. Eunis for a moment still hesitated.

„As I have already said. It doesn´t change anything on my decision.” she said.

„Okay.” he said resignedly. „We're going to find a guide.” When they returned, the village was in full flow. Many elves were still eagerly working on repairs. Just a few more days and there will be no trace about the attack. They decided that they first visit Sankore. As a blacksmith he should know the nearby mountains, due to imports of material for the job. Moreover Eunis wanted to take look at his condition. His left hand still needed to be fixed, but otherwise he was fine. No serious injuries. Soon, even the splints won´t be necessary. That day he was very lucky. They found him near the northern border. He instructed a group of elves how build the future protective walls. Now he was arguing with one elf over the construction plans.

„What the hell you were you thinking? You can´t just say that you build the wall, then pick a nice spot and finally begin to pile up stones. What on earth were you thinking? In this way this wall will fall even because of a breeze. Remember that the most important thing are the foundations. Without them they won´t stand. Where did you learn that you don´t know even this? No. Don´t say anything. And most importantly, after you lay the stones, don´t forget add some binder, ok? Now, get out. And make it right this time” shaking his head in disbelief after him. But when he saw, that Arian with Eunis were approaching him, kindly he smiled and waved.

„Hey, Sankore.” Eunis greeted him. „How are you doing?”

„Oh, well. And when do you plan to take this off my hand?” he asked. „It obstructs me at work.”

„You know that you shouldn´t work at all. At this rate, I´ll never take them off. But if you behave, you should be just fine before the celebration.” she said.

„So it'll be a complete saint.” he grinned. But suddenly spun around and marched to the elf, with whom he spoke a moment ago.

„For the King´s sake, what are you doing again?! You're probably kidding me? These are the foundations? And how is the wall suppose fit? It should be a protective wall, so it must endure something. And to endure anything it should be wide and strong. Yeah, so you think that should be enough? It has barely a meter! I could demolish if I leaned against it, let alone if the invaders began attacking it. A minimum of two and a half meters it will be wide and a meter deep, understand? And woe to you if you mess up something again!” grumbled Sankore. Reprimanded elf shuffled shamefully to other coworkers.

„Bloody likely.” he complained. „Getting nowadays somebody who knows something is almost impossible.”

„That's why we came to you." Eunis said.

„What? You need to fix something?”

„No. We need more like advice.” Arian said. The answer surprised Sankore.

„Advice? From me? What you want to know?”

„Well, as a blacksmith,” said Arian, „at least in our opinion, you should be familiar with the broader surroundings of the village. Especially the mountainous area due to rocks and metal. It is that so?” Sankore nodded. Confused eyes darting from one to the other.

„Thou shalt confess in the mountains around the Forbidden territory?”

Sankore startled by his question backed off. But he tripped over shovel, and with a muffled thud hit the ground. Incredulous he looked at them. Has he heard correctly? No, no. Certainly he misheard. They couldn´t ask him about something like that.

„Thou shalt confess in the mountains around the Forbidden territory?” Arian repeated. He hasn´t misheard. What do they want to know? Why did they come after him? Does he have to tell them what he knows, or send them away?

„Why ... Why do you ask?” he said finally.

„We want to check something.” Arian replied simply.

„I don´t understand ...”

„Thou shalt confess there or not?”

„Well, we can say yes.”

„Could you take us somewhere?” Sankore stood up and firmly shaking his head.

„No no. I can´t. Sorry, but I don´t want to have anything with this.”

„Sankore, please. You're the only one who can help us.” Eunis begged.

„I'm really sorry, but no.”

„And do you know someone else who would be willing to show us the way?” Arian asked.

„With that someone barely helps. Although ...” he thought for a moment.

„Someone could have possibly been found. Oh dear King, I'll get in trouble if someone finds out about it. Well. Listen carefully. I will not repeat it. Deeper in the woods, north of our village, lives one a freak. His name is Zodocar. If you persuade him, he´ll take you wherever you need. But be careful, he is quite explosive. He easily gets angry. Then you definitely don´t want to know him. Tell him that I send you. In this region he is known by everyone. Just ask someone about him and they will show you where he is.”

Eunis threw her arms around his neck. „Thank you, Sankore.“ Arian nodded gratefully. Sankore sighed and returned to work.

———————————————————————————

North Forest was very gloomy, although there wasn´t even time for lunch. Dense treetops didn´t let through almost no light. Neither birds singing couldn´t be heard here. The forest seemed to be dead. Eunis didn´t like this place. Shivers run down her spine. She was nervously looking around. Suddenly she spun around. Arian walked a few more steps, and then noticed that Eunis stopped.

„Is something wrong?” he asked.

„No, nothing.” she said. „I just ... I thought something in the bushes moved. I guess I just imagined it.”

They walked again. They walked in silence. Again. A gentle and soft rustling of leaves and twigs. Now Arian heard it too. He paused and raised his hand to draw attention to possible dangers. Again. This time, on the other side. Eunis listened attentively. What could it be? Wolves? No, they hunt in packs. If it would them, there have had to be more. Or could it be a bear? That causes more noise. Now. Something moved among the branches of a tree. It was too dark to recognize what it was. Eunis clung to Arian. Arian squinted into the darkness. His view was reciprocated. From the darkness, through the branches large glowing yellow eyes intently watched them. Eunis caught Ariana's hand. All of his body's muscles had tightened. He slowly bent. Eyes still fixed to the peculiar eyes. He picked up a small stone that lay at his feet. Carefully he straightened up. Eyes unobtrusively moved among the branches. The creature began to move. It slowly walked through the crown. He kept an eye on uninvited guests. Arian extended his hand, going to throw a stone at the creature. There was a cracking of branches. Eyes suddenly disappeared. Through forest sounded startled yelp, followed by a heavy thud. Arian with Eunis backed away.

„Shucks.” a voice came from the bushes in front of them. Eunis was surprised. Voice as if belonged to a little boy. She looked at Arian. He also looked puzzled.

„So that went wrong.” continued bushes. „Why am I so unlucky? Why me?” it lamented.

„You think it´s okay? And who is it?” Eunis asked quietly Arian. He shrugged.

„Yeah, I'm fine.” the voice said. „And to who I am, it´s none of your business.” Eunis's eyes widened in disbelief. How could it hear her? Even Arian was taken aback. She spoke very quietly. He almost didn´t hear her and he stood next to her. The kid in the bushes was at least two meters away. A rustle of leaves snatched them out of consideration. They didn´t believe their eyes. From the bushes crawled a cat. There would be nothing strange, there were a lot cats in the woods. But this was walking at two legs, measured over a meter and was wearing clothes. It was brushing its fur.

„Dear King.” Eunis gasped. The cat looked up. For a moment it studied them. Then, as if suddenly remembering something, it dropped to all fours and began to growl hostilely. It arched it´s back and bristled its fur. In the dim light it looked scary and dangerously. Arian again held out the stone.

„What are you doing here?” the boy's voice asked. Eunis looked around confused. But she can´t see anyone. Who was talking? There were only two of them, and the odd the cat. Eunis looked at it closely. It stood motionless in front of them. Only occasionally flicked its tail or twitched its ears.

„What are you doing here?” it repeated angrily. The voice was coming from its direction. The cat began to open and close its mouth. To their surprise, it began to build words.

„Last time I am asking, what are you doing here?” it shouted impatiently. No doubt about it. That child's voice belonged to the big cat that seems poised to attack. Eunis and Arian were speechless. Just stood there and stared in disbelief at the creature.

„Well?!”

Arian spoke first. „You ... you can talk?”

„You can hear me, don´t you? This isn´t enough as proof? Or gentleman needs a written agreement?” he spewed out angrily.

„Of course I can talk.” he added insulted after a short pause.

„You think just you know how to talk?”

„Who are you?” asked Arian.

„I am the guardian of this forest.” he said proudly. He didn´t stood so spiteful as before. He wasn´t so tense and slightly straightened up. Fur also wasn´t bristled.

„My job is to keep order and safety of the local residents.” he said proudly.

„Really?” laughed Arian. „That squirt is the guardian of the forest?”

„Hey!” the cat shouted and stood menacingly on the back legs. He clenched his fists (yes, instead of the front paws he has hands) and belligerently put them in front of his face.

„You want to fight?” he challenged Arian. Arian dropped the stone and he wanted to hit him, but Eunis stopped his hand.

„Don´t do it.” she said. The cat grinned. Out of the darkness came a quiet buzzing.

´Probably it is a fly or a beetle.´ Eunis thought when she heard it. She wasn´t the only one. The cat twitched one ear. He dropped his hands along the body and mesmerized watched an invisible point in the air. Then he crouched down and jumped in an attempt to catch the insect. He managed to knock it to the ground, started fumbling after it. The pair watched his actions.

„Nice guardian.” whispered Arian.

„Hey!” The cat looked up and the beetle had slipped through his fingers.

„Look. It escaped now.” He stood upright against them. Eunis guessed his height to 150 centimeters. Maybe a little more.

„You still haven´t told me why you're here.” he reminded them.

„We are looking for a certain man.” Eunis said.

„A man?” the cat asked.

„Yes, a man. His name is Zodocar. Do you know him?” The cat lightly jerked his ears.

„We have a problem and our friend told us that this man can help us. He says that he lives somewhere near.”

„Zodocar? I don´t know. Don´t know him.” he said nervously.

„Seriously? Are you sure?” Arian didn´t believe him. The cat was nodding eagerly.

„And what's your problem?” he asked.

„Our problem is our problem. It´s none of your business.” he brush him off.

„Well, I just thought I could help you.”

„You and help us? How could you help us?”

„That depends on what your problem is.”

„With this you can hardly help us.”

„What do you know?”

Eunis tugged Arian´s shirt to attract attention. He turned to her. „Why don´t give it a shot.”

„What?”

„Why not try it with him?”

„We don´t even know him.” he countered.

„Exactly. We don´t know what he can do or what he knows. Maybe he can take us there instead of Zodocar. He said he doesn´t know him. Who knows where we had to look for him. We just get lost.” she cajoled him. Arian carefully eyed the cat.

„And what are you?” he finally asked. The cat shook his head.

„You've never seen a cat?”

„But you're not a normal cat.” Arian reminded.

„You're right. I'm not an ordinary cat.” he unsuccessfully attempted an indifferent tone. „As not that I have anything against ordinary cats.” he added quickly. „I like them. But I belong under the order of werecats.” he said while proudly rubbing his facial hair.

„Were-what?”

„Well, werecats. You've heard of werecats, haven´t you?” the cat asked.

„Well, I just heard about werewolves, but werecats? I hear it first.” Eunis admitted.

„Oh yeah. Werewolves.” the cat said. „About them they write almost everywhere, but what about poor werecats, no. It's just an inferior cat, huh? But doggie, this is a holy animal, right?” he huffed.

„Easy. Calm down, kitty.” calmed him Arian.

„I'm calm. And don´t call me kitty, please. I have a name.”

„And what's your name?” Eunis asked.

„You first.”

„What?”

„When you want to know someone's name, introduce yourself at first.” the cat clarified.

„Oh, sorry. I am Eunis.”

„Arian.”

„I am pleased Eunis, Arian.” he slightly nodded. „Selim my name.” he said politely.

„Well.” he clasped his hands together. „With what do you need help?”

„We need to get somewhere.” Eunis explained. Selim looked amused.

„Just this? Why didn´t you say so? I know every corner here.”

„Really?” Eunis rejoiced. „You can you take us there?”

„Where do you want to go?”

„Thou shalt confess in the vicinity of the western mountains?”

Selim was surprised but not startled. „So the western area, huh? And what are you looking for? There are only woods and mountains bordering our and the Forbidden territory.”

„And that's exactly where we need to go.“ said Arian.

„I see. And what's there?“ he asked.

„That's our business.“ Arian admonished him. Selim raised his hands in apology.

„Where exactly would you like to go? This area is quite large.“

Arian pulled out a map. He tried to focus, to discern at least some part of it, but the dimness made it impossible. Selim came closer and looked over his shoulder.

„You have it backwards.” he pointed out.

„Really?” Arian wondered. „How do you know?”

„Well. I am werecat. And as such, I can see even in greater darkness.” he explained.

„Wow.” Eunis marveled. „That's why you found us.”

„Finding you was not so difficult. Guests don´t visit here much. Even if you don´t know about it, you're making a lot of noise. Furthermore you smell differently. No offense, but you smell as resin and smoke. And especially you, Eunis, you smell after something specific, odd. I can´t describe it, but it smells quite far. Lucky that I've found you. Being it someone else, you're gone. We are not fans of visits. Most of them didn´t end very well.“ he paused. „So, where is it?“ he asked and adjusted Arian´s map.

„I don´t know if you can see it, but in the west of the Forbidden territory should be chateau or a castle. At least a tower. That is the goal.”

„Okay. We're here in the north, and you want to get here on the west.” he mused. „It's quite far. It will take a while. How soon you need to be there?”

„Within nine days, with the way back.” said Arian.

„Hmm. That will be a little problem.”

„A problem? You think we won´t be there in time?” Eunis was startled.

„That's not the point. In nine days, we could get there in time. But it won´t be an easy journey. We have to get nearly over a quarter of the island. Is it really such hurry?”

„In the nine days the celebration of the Blue moon will take place. Yesterday was also attacked our village. We think it has something to do together.” Eunis explained.

„And how does it relate to the Forbidden territory?” Selim didn´t understand.

„I think that's where it´s all planned.” she clarified.

„Okay.” Selim was apparently satisfied with the answer. „I suggest, when we get out of the woods, we go straight to the west. The shortest route. We'll get to the river Ventuss.” he showed the way on the map. He probably didn´t realize that he is the only one who can sees it.

„There we´ll go along it and then we turn more to the south. Once we come to the bridge, we get into a town. There we can pick up some food or obtain some information. I bet you don´t know much about the Forbidden territory, huh?” He let the question hang in the air and then continued. „From there, we´ll head to the mountains. Go through the valley, and we're almost there.” he finished.

„That's amazing. Thank you very much, Selim.” Eunis enthusiastically hugged him around his shoulders. Selim flinched and twisted his ears back. Eunis released him immediately.

„Sorry, I'm sorry. I guess I scared you.”

„No. that's ok.” he said. „I just ... I'm just not used to it.”

„Why are you doing this?” Arian asked suddenly.

„What?” Selim was confused.

„I mean, why do you helping us? Didn´t you want to eat us just a moment ago?” he said.

„What do you think I am?” Selim was amazed. „I don´t eat people. I just wanted to expel you. And,” he added with a grin, „I feel an adventure. I have a nose for it.”

„Do as you think. So, where do we go now?”

„First we need to go to our place. I need to take a few things. I won´t go empty-handed.”

„You come with us?”

Selim nodded with a smile. „I won´t let the whole adventure just for you. Nothing happens here. I wish I had some fun.”

„I really thank you very much. You saved us.”

„You bet. Without me, you would have lost.”

They walked through the woods. They sailed through the trees like a fishes among the coral. Selim suddenly stopped. Eunis nearly hit him. He turned to them.

„I almost forgot. There is just a tiiiiny problem.”

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 11.

Hi :-)

This one chapter will be little bit shorter.... I just must make the mood. I am not called “Drama Queen” for nothing ;-P

———————————————————————————

„What problem?“ asked Arian.

„It's just that we don't love to have humans around. It would be probably better if you stayed a little away and hid.”

„Well then. We´ll hide.“ said Arian. „But we are not humans. We are elves.“ he added.

„That would be perhaps even worse.“ he muttered.

„Why? Is something wrong?“ Eunis asked.

„It's a long story.“ Selim ended. They continued on.

The more they approached the home of Selim, the more light was passing through treetops. Eunis has been able to recognize more details of the surroundings. All around grew tall trees with wide trunks and exposed roots. They had to be hundreds maybe even thousands of years old. Here and there she saw a small bird fly through. The air was filled with the scent of flowers. From a distance she could hear the sweet singing of birds. Eunis was surprised how much life is in this gloomy forest. When they approached the brightest part of the forest, Selim unexpectedly turned to the dark corners. Eunis with Arian exchanged glances. Selim explained everything to them.

„Just before us is our village. Here in the bushes is a good place to hide. I have verified it. No one will see you there, and the wind blows from the village to you so you won´t be smelled so easy. But you have to be quiet. It´s not sound proved. Sit here. I'll be right back.“ he said, and disappeared among the bushes.

Eunis quickly crawled under a bush and pulled aside a few branches to see. Arian joined her. She was curious how werecats lives. She never has seen their village before. To her surprise she saw nothing special. It looked normal. Like any other. Wooden houses with thatched roofs, large doors and many windows were arranged in a circle. Because it stood in the clearing, there was a bright light. She noticed Selim, how he cautiously sneaks along one of the houses. She wondered why he sneaks. However, she could now, at least from a distance, take a look at him. His fur was short and sand color with darker almost rusty stripes. Short hair, similar color as his fur, was falling over his forehead. By the left ear, she sometimes saw flashed something. He was dressed in a brown sleeveless vest and little lighter pants that reached his knees. On his neck dangled a red bandanna clasped with gray round buckle. He seemed nice. That's not how she pictured a werecat. In fact she thought it would look more threatening. But she liked him more this way. Arian was also looking at him with interest.

Selim slightly stretch through the door of a large house in the back. After a moment, he glanced from behind the door. In the mouth he was holding a small beige bundle and was nervously looking around. Recognizing that the air was clean, he quietly closed the door and on all fours he ran through the village. He headed off to the side from where Eunis with Arian had been hidden. That if he had been caught.

From the shadows of a nearby house, something rushed off. It quickly flashed through the air. It steered to Selim. The moment he bounced off the ground, he was hit in the legs. He yelped in surprise and dropped the bundle. He lost his balance. He was outweighed. He landed right on his head. He did a couple of somersaults and finally he lay still on his side. Eunis jumped to her feet and wanted to run after him, but Arian stopped her. She wanted to protest, Arian shook his head. Eunis looked back to Selim, then to Arian and again to Selim. Finally she sat resignedly and watched everything from behind the bushes. Arian was right. If she would ran there right now, everything would be just worse. Who knows how the others would react, if they saw her. And was there anyone? Eunis looked around the village. She didn´t saw no one.

Along one house, something moved.

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 12.

Drama incoming  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

———————————————————————————

It was the same house from which flew the strange thing. And what was it? She looked toward Selim. Still lying on the ground. Probably he was unconscious. Next to him was a large metal bowl. It looked heavy and solidly. She hoped it didn´t break his legs. Then she turned her gaze to the strange shadow behind the house. Figure began to appear from the dark corners of the house and with a graceful step approached the motionless body. It was also werecat. Well, werecat lady. She had dark tabby fur that glistened in the sun. Her black hair hung to her shoulders. She stopped a few steps behind Selim. Bright green eyes studied him. As if it was an unknown creature that she had never seen before. After a moment she straightened and folded her hands on her hips.

„Well, well, little brother.“ she said finally. „Hope you didn´t get hurt?“ Her voice was pleasant, but the tone was literally dripping with sarcasm and superiority. Selim´s ears twitched. He lifted a little bit. In his head it was buzzing as in a hive. He supported himself by one hand and with the second he was rubbing the top of his head to dispel the pain that had throbbed sharply. He looked ahead. His sight was blurry and everything revolved around him.

´I guess I hit a rock.´ He felt, like to his hand, which he rubbed his head, clung warm blood. He slowly stood up and turned to the werecat lady that majestically towered over him. Compared to her Selim looked small and helpless. Selim wanted to straighten to equalize the height difference, but he was so out of the balance that he had to crouch down to avoid falling. He shook his head in an attempt to correct distortion of the senses. Later he found out that it was a mistake. He had seen even worse and surroundings rippled faster. Fortunately, he was so conscious that he could think rationally. He slowly looked around. He found nothing that would help him. His eyes settled on werecat lady in front of him. She stood still and watched Selim in amusement. He tried to focus on her but everything was still blurred. He couldn´t recognize her. The shape of the face, her features. Her voice was familiar, but he heard her only briefly. And because of the buzzing he didn´t catch a lot of it. All the thinking started to give him a headache. He turned his gaze to the ground. He needed a dull background, so he won´t wobble so much. In a corner of his eye he noticed a small beige spot a little bit on the left from the werecat lady. For a while he looked puzzled, but then he realized.

´This is my bundle, which I packed. I had to drop it. She probably hasn´t noticed. If I´ll be fast, I can pick it up before she did, and then disappear. I can handle it.´

But as soon as he made a step, his knees buckled and he fell to the ground.

„Shucks.” he cursed quietly. ´So that went wrong.´ An acerbic laugh split the air. Werecat lady walked slowly to the small bundle. Selim wanted to stop her, shout at her, get up and take his bundle. But nothing worked. His body didn´t want to listen. He tried to get up, when she stopped again in front of him.

´If I straighten, I´ll just fall. For now I have to stay down.´ He realized. So he stood at four. He straddles a little more to maintain better stability. When he looked up, she waved the bundle in front of his snout. Selim wanted to reach out and grab it from her, but as soon as he raised his hand, he staggered. So he quickly dropped it down to keep from falling.

´There has been enough of those falls.´ He said to himself. The werecat lady laughed again.

„You're really hilarious, Selim, I must admit. You'd be an excellent jester.“ These two sentences were enough. He knew with whom he was dealing. He forced himself to words.

„Give me that, Lal!“ He wanted to shout, but it was barely audible.

“Sorry, I didn´t hear it. Did you say something?“ she said innocently. He felt an incredible rage. On the humiliation he was used, it would not bother him. But why she goes so far to cripple him? He had also got hit from her, but it's never been so serious. He hadn´t done anything wrong, had he?

„Give me that, Lal!“ Now his voice was carried through the village.

„Come on. This is not how you talk with your sister.“ she said disappointedly.

Eunis startled covered her mouth. Arian was also taken aback. ´A sister? Seriously now she said she is his sister? So, why she is hurting him?´

Lal spoke again.

„If you really want it so much, come and get it.“ Selim knew he had no choice. He really needed his things and she knew it. Without maps he would get lost, without a compass he wouldn´t find the right direction. Carefully he straightened. When he stood firmly on the ground, he clenched his fists and prepared to fight. Again that her laughter.

„So you want to fight?“ she said in amusement. „You know you can´t hit a girl.“ she said gently, almost in maternal tone. When she saw that her words had no effect to him, she dropped the bundle on the ground and a came few steps closer. Her hands were loosely at your sides.

„Do as you think.“ she said softly.

Selim was terribly annoyed by her feeling of untouchability, that literally emanated from Lal. He wanted to grab that feeling from her. Scatter her that she would be surprised that she would be confused and don´t know what to do next. That he might be the one who has the upper hand. He extended his hand. He wanted to hit her with his fist. He almost succeeded, if hadn´t been so out of the balance. He was outweighed. He missed. She didn´t even need to dodge. She used the moment when he was bewildered and slapped him. She slashed him in the left side of his face. Selim stepped back, startled. He automatically covered his injured face. From beneath his fingers he felt warm blood.

´Shucks! He scolded himself. ´Shucks, shucks, shucks. You moron! Look to pull yourself together!´ Lal still stood there and stared at her red-colored claws. As if she hasn´t seen the blood before. On her face was created a spiteful smile.

„See? I told you this is not how you talk to your sister.” she said in a surprisingly deep and calm voice. „I guess I'll have to give a lesson in manners.”

Selim began to slowly back away. Startled, he looked at her, his hand still covering wounds. He didn´t like it. Not at all, he didn´t like it. He had a bad feeling.

´This won´t end well. I gotta get out, and fast.´ He turned around and wanted to run, but his legs were trembling. Before he knew it, he was lying on his stomach and on his shoulders he felt her weight. She sat on his back and hesitates what she would do with him. Selim, meanwhile, tried to figure out a way to get out of it. Until she sat on him, he couldn´t really move. He must force her to stand. But how? He tried to rewind to the side. Maybe he would manage to throw her off. It was a futile effort. Lal completely pinned him to the ground and Selim was already exhausted. He felt his hands shaking. The surroundings were no longer revolving, but it was still blurry. Suddenly, a dull ache went through his head. Lal hit him in the back of the head. And then again. And again. Selim heavily clenched his teeth to keep from screaming. He won´t make her the joy to hear him scream. At least this not. The surroundings before his eyes began to darken. Pounding has stopped. Lal stopped. She slowly stood up. Selim could finally breathe properly. Sharply she turned him and nearly took his breath away. She grabbed him by the collar of his vest and held him in front of her eyes.

„So. Now you hopefully learned how to behave towards older siblings. Brother.“ she added virulently. Selim didn´t perceive. He knew that she was saying something, but he didn´t understand her. He was tired and wanted to sleep. Lal's grip loosened and Selim slumped to the ground. Last time she looked at him, then turned and walked away.
