Jin's Traditional Alcohol Journey

I think I've watched the whole series a couple of times already, but it still feels so refreshing everytime..

This series where Jin starts to learn the art of making makgeolli, feels personal and meaningfull.

Makgeolli sometimes anglicized to makkoli is a Korean alcoholic drink. It is a milky, off-white, and lightly sparkling rice wine that has a slight viscosity

Because we know that's what he could plan and execute in time before enlisting, of course, but also is about his tradition.

At this point Seokjin knows very well how much influence (world wide) he has, the same with BTS and every member. Remember all the times army got JKs kombucha sold out?

This time, he's taking army on a journey to learn more about a very special korean tradition.

Drinking has a different cultural importance in korea.

But this series is not just about getting drunk.

Is about the craftmanship, the chemistry, the patience and the persistence that pays off at the end, when you can savour the fruits of handmade labour with people that are special to you, while eating some homecooked food.

It is inspirational to see Jin getting hands on, humbly taking the role of apprentice, eager to learn and excel.

Jin is sharing culture, keeping it alive through the new generation.

At one of the last episodes, Jin asks for ownership of the recipe which implicates a lot of meaning.

He states that he wants his drink to bring people together, and the master that gives him the recipe couldn't have chosen a more fitting name.

I won't spoil it, because it felt really magical and got me a bit emotional.

But it reminded me of the beautiful message of BTS.

As Namjoon has said before, the one who wears the crown must bear its weight, and no member takes it lightly..

Jin said he wants to share his drink with BTS and Army, I'll wait for his return.
