( joe manganiello fc & maggie lindemann fc ) plot: mia's trying out some halloween makeup on maximus for an upcoming event, and he's just being a grumpy old man about it. just a silly little thing 'cause i wanted to make a double muse starter tbh lol

maximus' massive frame looked completely out of place in the cramped makeup room as he sat in the creaky chair. the soft brushes danced across his skin while he stared at the ceiling, biting back a yawn. this was the part of his job he hated most: thematic events. he was here to wreck bodies in the ring, not be turned into some freak show. but he sat still, grumbling internally, and endured it because... well, he was getting paid for it. when mia finally gave him the okay to look, he slowly opened his eyes, and his reflection glared back at him. his face was painted with dark streaks and sharp lines that transformed him into some kind of werewolf, and all he could muster was a flat, "i look fucking stupid." his voice was low, gruff, and full of annoyance.

mia let out a quiet, knowing sigh, already bracing herself for his complaints before the man even opened his eyes. she crossed her arms and gave him a pointed look. "shut up, you look great," she shot back, a teasing edge to her voice that masked the satisfaction she got from her work. "it’s halloween - you’re supposed to look terrifying. can you tell him he looks great?" she turned to their spectator, raising an eyebrow in silent plea. maybe a second opinion could make the stubborn veteran see reason, though she wasn't holding her breath.
