Yes to all of this! Honestly, there is so much potential for animosity between these two because hell, there’s already plenty of bad blood between Roman and the Joker and Birds of Prey highlighted a lot of hostile dynamics. I’m not terribly fond of his depiction in BoP but that he only left Harley alone because of the Joker is accurate and without Mistah J around, he really has no reason to play nice with her at all. That being said, I can see attraction or at the very least sexual tension? Harley brings chaos everywhere she goes and while Roman is no fan of chaos, he can manage it and she is a very strong woman. Oh, she pisses him off big time and always seems to know just how to get under his skin but theres no denying she’s interesting and, dare he admit it, intelligent. She’s no dumb blonde bimbo - a clown bimbo maybe, but Harley can get things done and more often than has potential she doesn’t seem to realize, or does even if the Joker tried snuffing that realization out of her thoughts. So yeah, I agree with everything written here, that Harley wants attention and he’s got what she wants. He’ll tolerate her, annoying though he can find her because damn, it’s hard to get competent people on your side and for all her flaws, she isn’t wrapped around the Bat’s finger like Catwoman.

*SLAPS HANDS DOWN ON THE TABLE* May, you know exactly how to read my mind and all these you picked? They’re perfect. What Roman and Matt have isn’t romantic in the slightest - it’s dark, twisted and utterly toxic, every bit as noxious as the smog polluting Gotham’s waters and skies and do you know what? I’m loving every second of it because let’s face it, Matt’s no angel, is he? In fact he’s quite a devil, and Roman would gladly corrupt him further, tempting him from the path of the vigilante and down an even darker route. Unlike a certain bat Black Mask usually deals with, Daredevil brings a whole array of new challenges to contend with. More than that, Matt has flaws, and it’s preceisely because of them that Roman is so drawn to the man. He’s violent, pushes others away and has a great many of his own demons to deal with, demons that Roman are all too familiar with. They both have needs that crave to be nourished and Roman will feed Matt’s so long as his own get fed in turn. There’s no bright side in being a vigilante. It’s thankless work, bloody and hard so why not be selfish every now and then? It’s not even your city anyway so why fight for it? Matt may intend on taking Roman down so the criminal can be brought before the court system and properly sentenced for his crimes but why end the game so soon? Especially when they’re both enjoying playing it so much. It’s not romantic in the slightest, how brutally they beat one another but the pain is invigorating, the thrill those those adreneline rushes and even more when they can’t keep their hands off one another a moment longer. Roman wants to push Matt, to see how far he can so and so what if they’re using each other? People use each other all the time and baby, he’s got what the vigilante needs.

Absolutely agree with everything you’ve got here! The childhood friends is a new dynamic we only started talking about/writing recently but my god, I love it so much??? Waylon had a TERRIBLE childhood and like so many of Gotham’s Rogues, Roman did too. Just in different ways. Whereas Waylon grew up in poverty and hardship, abused further by his neglectful and outright cruel aunt, Roman grew up in relative care, privileged compared to many but no more loved by his parents than Waylon’s aunt cared for her nephew. Roman similarly had few friends growing up, but if they had met as children as they did in our threads, it would have been a very different story, these two finding solace in one another, in a world where their loved ones resent them for being the way they are. It’s a strange dichotomy almost, that Waylon and Roman can look so different and live completely opposite lives but beneath the surface, if one cared to look deeper, they are very similar people at heart and it’s exactly the reason why they get along so well. Roman had no love of his parent’s fancy parties and extravagant events and Waylon would have never fitted in (much less gotten an invitation), but he’s the right sort of asset at parties Roman likes, where they take down anybody who gets in their way. They are very much partners in crime, with none of the mind games other criminals in Gotham like getting up to behind each other’s backs. Killer Croc has none of the airs and graces others tend to put on and his honesty is a breath of fresh air in a place where Black Mask needs eyes up his ass (as well as the back of his head) to avoid getting double-crossed or stabbed in the back. With Croc, he has none of those worries and vice versa with Croc trusting him. They plan accordingly, make their agreements, work together as a team and see their work through to the end, so that each man gets his due. It’s very business-oriented which works well for them, making their team-up’s a genuine threat as Roman sees and treats Croc as an equal, not as a dumb animal or thug who can’t think for himself. Roman has a healthy respect for Croc, both for his abilities and reliability in a city full of criminals that will stab you in the back for a bigger slice of the pie or simply because it’s fun. With these two? They want it all, and the best way to get that is to work together as one.
