Imagine trying to find some skin care products your friend recommended so you go to the nearest beauty shop by your dorm.
You walk in and look around for the skin care for a while staring at the link your friend sent you. Your gaze flickers from the photo of the cream back to the shelves wondering if it was even at this store. The workers asked you if you were alright but you nod and give them a smile saying you were fine.
After thirty minutes of loitering you decide to leave thinking you were unlucky in choosing the location. Before you could step out you feel a tight grip on your wrist and you turn back to see a handsome stranger in a white hoodie and some gray jeans. He seemingly glares at you looking you up and down and muttering words in Korean under his breath.
Before you could even understand what was happening he started dragging you throughout the store mumbling things under his breath like, “This can help with acne,” while placing seemingly random products in your basket. “Best treatment for blackheads and pores,” a nose strip gets placed in.
You protest trying to pull your wrist away and try to explain you won't be able to pay for the basket that seems like it could overflow if you keep walking with him. “Stop complaining. You're going to get wrinkles.” He grabbed an anti-aging cream this time and turned around to look you up and down again. You felt self-conscious under his gaze wondering if you should have tried harder with your outfit even if it was the weekend.
“Did you even try waking up in the morning?” He asked you with a tone that sounded like you woke up just to annoy him. You tried to hold back a scoff and discussed face at his words.
You can't even respond before he drags you to the cashier and looks at you with a raised brow.
“I’m sorry, but I can't pay for it.” You apologize for looking at the two zeros after the $34. “It’s too expensive anyways. I’m sorry for wasting your ti-”
“Stop apologizing.” He scoffs, flipping out his card from his wallet. He doesn't bat an eye as he places it in the register.
“No-! You really don't have to do that. Let me repay you somehow.” You tell him but something in your gut told you to let him pay for it and run with all the skincare you had no idea how to use.
“Who said I wasn't going to let you repay me?” He replied with a snarky voice. The cashier placed the jars, tubes, small cardboard boxes, and any other products he bought for you in a bag.
“It could take a while but I can get you the money-”
“7:30 pm tomorrow at the new French restaurant. Don't be late.” He turns around and starts to leave the shop. “I’m Min Ho. You don’t need to be afraid to follow me on insta. I have that effect on people.” You can hear a cocky laugh leave his lips as the automatic glass door closes leaving you staring at his retreating feature.
Maybe you should go shopping for a cute outfit today as well.

No pronouns just you is used, friends to lovers

Another stressful week at attending KISS finally passed with practically your whole life revolving fully around the school. You decided you needed a hobby to take the stress off the heavy workflow. After asking one of your friends, Q, about fun activities that could help with stress and take your mind off of school he started gushing about his outdoor club and hiking saying, “joinmyclubandyourelifewillchangeinwaysyouneverthoughtof!” Or at least that's what you thought he said.
Getting up from your bed you grabbed some clothing you had picked out the night before on your chair and went to the bathroom to get ready not wanting your roommate's new boyfriend to see you changing, again.
Finishing in the bathroom you finished your morning routine and put the athletic clothing on. A light smile to your face looking at it remembering what Min Ho had told you when you went shopping.
Another gasp escaped his throat. At this point, you thought he was just trying to not go back to his dorm room. “What it that y/n! You look like a smurf who got drowned in hair dye! Do you have anything good in there?” His voice was harsh but laced with a teasing hint. You knew he didn't want you to look like, “a smurf who got drowned in tye die,” but it had been two hours of this and you think one of the employees is praying you two get hit by a truck on your way out from the pile of clothes you're going to leave.
He barged his way into the changing room and you gasped, “Hey, my bras on the floor-”
“So? Were friends aren't we?” He responded casually while digging around all the stores' clothes you had picked out for a hike. You scoffed and knew fighting wasn't going to work with him.
Min Ho dug around everything you pulled out scoffing and gasping at the endless amount of “worthless” clothes as he put it. “Wait here, you don't know what looks good on you.” He left as quickly as he entered and after two minutes of finding your bra and underwear hiding under the clothing you had been wearing he returned. “This. Then someone might notice you chon-nom.” He draped the top over your face and grabbed your hand to place the shorts on them. “And this jacket.” He grabbed one of the jackets and handed it to you again. The top on your face slowly fell off your face to reveal your face with an arched brow. Min Ho mimicked the face with crossed arms jokingly. “What?”
“Leave.”
“Why.”
“Because I'm getting changed.”
“That's not an excuse y/n.”
In the end, you had bought the outfit and it honestly was better than anything you could have picked out, but you would never let him know that. You looked in the mirror cupping your butt in the tight fabric of your shorts in your hands with a worried look. You did lightly regret letting him pick the shorts even asking if there were pants but he just said they were, “out of the stalk.”
Leaving the bathroom with the jacket placed around your waist you quickly said goodbye to her and her boyfriend of the week.
“Hey, Q!” You waved, lightly jogging to him and doing some warm-up stretches in the grass.
“Y/n!” He smiled with a small wave back. “Don't waste all your energy yet,” he teased.
“I would never.”
The trail was honestly beautiful, you had never seen anything like it. The clouds might have still been in the sky with the blue sky peeking out and a light mist covering the mountain path but it only added to the comfort of the walk. You stopped to look at the view of the school and took an inhale, your senses overflowing. The smell of the old bark of the trees with some water slowly dripping down its leaves, the still wet dirt that had a hint of mushiness but you still wouldn't call it mud, the smell of fog and damp grass. Your school work and family life had disappeared in the environment. Q was right when he told you it could change your life.
“Hey y/n, keep up” He turned back to look at you but a small smile stretched on his lips. “You like the view?”
“Is it always like this?” You turned to ask him.
“Most of the time. You never really get used to it.” He turned to look back at the city and his shoulders untensed.
“We should do this more.” You made your way over to him but a light scream from you made Q’s eye widen when he saw you take a step back and your footing get loose when a small animal ran past your legs.
“Y/n!” He tried to reach out for you but your body hit the floor and you muffled out another scream when your body rolled a few times. Luckily you were able to stop yourself from falling down the hill anymore but your body with filled with scratches and bruises. Some blood coated your arms and you winced bringing up your hands to look at them. They shook with cuts on the palm and fingers.
“Y/n! Are you alright!” He ran over to you and immediately grabbed you by the arm hoisting you up and over his shoulder. “Shit.”
“Y-yeah I’m fine.” You brought your arms to his shoulders to lightly slap him. “Let’s continue the hike.”
“What? No. You got hurt.”
“No, I'm fine. Just a little cut.”
“A little?” His voice got harsh and he repositioned you on his back. “We’re going back to my place. You can't keep walking you’ll open more wounds.”
“Q, I'm fine!”
“You're going to have to amputate your leg!”
“I’m fine!” You slapped his shoulder again. The two of you slowly made your way down the hill wobbling from side to side at times. You both got to his side of the dorm and he got out his key.
“Min Ho’s going to kill me,” he muttered under his breath almost going unnoticed by you. He finally opened the door and closed it, walking over and setting you down on the couch.
“Stay here, I’ll get the med kit,” Q tells you leaving for the bathroom.
“You have a med kit?” You ask laughing. You slowly relax on the couch and feel your body melt into the cushions until a loud voice interrupts you.
“WHAT! YOU LET WHAT HAPPEN TO HER?!” Min Ho’s voice echoed through the living room not even for a second before Q fought back.
“She’s not a kid Min Ho! She just fell!”
“And you didn't catch her?!”
“She was a few feet away!”
“You shouldn't have let her go with you in the first place!”
More incoherent yells left the bathroom until you hear Q barge the door open and throw the first aid kit at Min Ho’s chest. He didn't look at you as he stomped down to the front door opening and slamming it. The apartment was quiet as you sat on the couch. Min Ho’s sigh caught you off guard and you whip around to see him a few feet behind you.
“What happened?” You ask with a meek voice not wanting to sour the mood more.
“Don't worry about it,” he spat before widening his eyes. “Bastard.” He cupped your face and rubbed light circles on your cheek with his thumb. His eyes scanned your features and some of the cuts on them, his eyes darting to your lips before he stood up stiffly. “Let's go to my room.”
“What?”
“You. Me. My room.” He turned around a hand on the doorknob of his room. “Come here.”
You stay still looking at him.
“I’m not going to hurt you,” he laughs. “Now, come here, idiot.” He enters his room and looks at you like a kicked puppy.
You sigh getting up trying not to wince at the pain shooting through your legs. He dramatically sighed and placed a hand on his hip, watching you patiently. “I'm not waiting here all day,” he groaned.
Your head snapped up to meet his annoyed face with an equally mad one. You couldn't help but slowly relax your face and bite your lip trying not to smile at him.
Finally walking over to him he places a hand on your shoulder but quickly takes it off when you flinch from his touch. Silently cursing yourself you look at him with apologetic eyes and he slowly places a delicate hand back on your shoulder guiding you to his bed.
He sits you down on the edge of the bed as he kneels down face to face with your scratted legs. He opens the med kit and puts some rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab. Gently grabbing your ankle with the pads of his fingers treating you as if you were made of the finest china.
He places a cotton swab on a cut making sure to not hurt you but when you wince his grip on your ankle tightens.
“How could Q-” He grits, clenching his teeth.
“It’s not his fault it's mine.” You quickly cut him off not liking wanting him to fight with his friend any longer.
“But you still!” He groaned and dragged a hand down his face not wanting to get mad at you or his friend.
“Just please let it go Min Ho. It’s my fault.” You say regretfully and place your hand on his cheek almost like a lover more than a friend. It almost feels like he leans into your touch but you immediately finch it back and grab your hand.
His eyes almost look sad before he scoffs. “Don’t go treating me like a roach y/n.”
“R-right.” You curse yourself for stuttering in front of him. There's no reason to have your cheeks heat up at him. You’ve known him since the beginning of KISS. He’s helped you study, and pick beauty products, and skincare. You’ve laughed with him, cried, felt real emotions with him. He’s made your self-confidence skyrocket and almost made you a completely different person. A person you wanted to be. Min Ho was your best friend. Right?
He shook his head and went back to placing the rubbing alcohol swab back on your cuts. It was completely silent except for the rapid beats of your heart you prayed he couldn't hear.
He slowly leans up once he's done and you come face to face. Only now did you realize how close he was. The almost nonexistent pours along his noes. The smell of his perfect conditioner and cologne. The soft breath fanning across your cheeks would make you push away anyone if it wasn't him.
“Min-”
“Don’t,” he said barely audible. His eyes darted down to your lips but quickly shot up to your eyes. The both of you slowly leaned in your eyes fluttering close and your lips lightly puckering. Your senses were overloaded when you left the softest lips on you. Your hands remained on the sheets not wanting to grab him and you softly pushed back against him your lips relaxing into the warmth of his own. He released a low groan and pushed back regretfully wanting to cherish the moment longer.
“I thought you liked Madison,” you panted out from doing almost nothing.
“Why would I? She’s, not you.”

“No,” a tanned hand pointed to a picture of you. “NoOooOo.”
Min Ho stole a drink from a waiter and kept his eyes on the cute girl in front of him.
“Off limits.”
Smoothly walking around the crowd of people, he combed his hair with his hand and smirked, preparing himself for the attractive girl in front of him.
“No touchy.”
His hand reached out to touch her shoulder, offering the refreshing glass until he saw Q coming.
“I’ll kill you.”
“You’re finally here! It took you long enough,” Q shouted, holding you in a suffocating hug, rocking you in his hold before saying your name, almost sounding like he dragged it out for Min Ho to know who you were, even if he didn't know he was here.
“You’re finally here! It took you long enough,” Q shouted, holding you in a suffocating hug rocking you in his hold before saying your name, almost sounding like he dragged it out for Min Ho to know who you were even if didn't know he was here.
“Y” no.
“N.” This couldn't be happening. It wasn't you, was it? No acne. You're wearing a dress? And heels? No, no, no, no, no, no, no… you were just someone else. Not Y/n.
You, or not you to Min Ho, yelled at Q for him to hear you. Min Ho couldn't hear the words, but when you left, he went to Q.
“Who was that?” Min Ho asked, almost offended.
“Y/n. Don't you remember her?” Q asked, out of breath, the smile on his face almost dropping for a second.
Of course, he did. But that girl in the photo he showed before the party was Y/n. Not whoever that was. In a shorter, tighter dress with matching heels. The Y/n he knew would wear oversized hoodies and jeans, paired with the most atrocious skincare routine he’d ever seen.
The Y/n he knew didn't know how to put on makeup to hide her acne, blackheads, etc. This one did. So that's why she isn't Y/n. Q’s sister isn't mature and doesn't know how to walk in heels, but this one?
This random girl looked mature. The opposite of Y/n. She almost looked cute to him, always running to him if she was scared or had a problem, on the brink of tears. Her voice would crack slightly, and his heart would hammer five times faster, hoping she wouldn't hear how his heart raced around her—
He cut off his thoughts, not wanting to get his feelings involved in any more ways possible. If Q knew, he didn't want to know what would happen to himself.
“Of course, I do,” he scoffed. “She’s changed.”
“I know! She really got into makeup videos and fashion blogs over the summer. And she started to drink water and get tons of sleep! I’m so proud of her, my little baby~,” he cooed.
Min Ho scoffed, rolling his eyes. He still couldn't help how his eyes immediately found your body. The way you smiled, the little crinkles under your eyes. His fist bunched up when he noticed you were talking to another boy. Why should he care who you're talking to? You’re your own person; you don't need him like you used to.
“Who’s she talking to? He looks like a baboon covered in cottage cheese. Has he ever seen skincare before? He probably uses water and dish soap to wash his face. Disgusting.”
“Woah, woah. Slow down there,” Q brought his hands up defensively. “It’s just a boy.”
“A disgusting, sweaty boy.”
“And why do you care?” Q asked, a hand on his hip. He almost seemed interested until it was his sister Min Ho was talking about. Immediately, all the teasing behind his eyes darkened.
“I’m looking out for her,” Min Ho said, but the look in Q’s eyes made him restate it. “For you.”
“Mhm. That better be it.”
“I should go find Dae,” Min Ho said. However, his eyes and body betrayed him. Even as he tried to pull his gaze away, it was as if his eyes were glued to your frame. He continued walking, his arm lifted up to help push away the people in his way. The sea of people grew smaller as he moved closer to you.
The way the lights reflected off your face almost made you appear angelic, just for him.
But then he saw the boy you were talking to. Glasses and curly brown hair. His eyebrows needed some- a lot of work. His glasses were big and bulky, resting on his strong nose, unfortunately not hiding his green eyes. His jaw was red and bumpy, but the rest of his face was smooth.
He lifted a hand to tap on the boy's shoulder, and if it was even possible, the most malicious smile you had ever seen spread over his features.
“O-oh, I’m so sorry,” the boy stuttered, his face flushing, and he turned to face you, panicked. “I didn’t know you had a boyfriend; I had just assumed—”
“Assumed?” You repeated, a little confused, but when you looked up, you saw him.
He had been able to fit into his clothes more since the last time you saw him.
“Boyfriend?” Min Ho asked the boy, now leaning down a bit to meet his gaze.
He had gotten taller since the last time you'd seen him.
“A-are you not a thing? Oh my, I’m so sorry,” he stuttered further, digging himself into a pit of embarrassment. Min Ho just raised a brow at him; obviously, his patience was wearing thin.
He had gotten worse at hiding his feelings since the last time you'd seen him.
“Why are you still here?” He smiled politely, but his tone was anything but. He couldn't help but flicker his eyes over to you, and he couldn't help with his heart almost hammering twice as hard.
He had gotten more blunt since the last time you'd seen him.
“No! Stay, you’re fine,” you interjected, grabbing the boy's hand. You looked at him, batting your lashes, unaware of the effect it was having on both boys.
His face had gotten even redder since the last time you'd seen him.
“Are you?” He reached a hand around your shoulder, drawing you closer to him. His cologne almost enveloped you. It wasn't heavy and strong like the other boys at school. It was nice and light, making you almost dizzy in a way you never knew was possible.
He smelled better than the last time you had seen him.
The boy, embarrassed, turned red and quickly withdrew his hand from yours. He then turned into the crowd, making his way to a random corner of the room. Min Ho tightened his grip on your shoulder, and you met his gaze. He looked down at you with unreadable eyes, but you could tell that the way he held you, embraced you, never made you want to leave his arms.
He made you feel even warmer than the last time you had seen him.
"What was wrong with him?"
He had grown more attractive since the last time you saw him.
"Min Ho? It's you, right?" you asked skeptically. He looked like him, yet so much different.
"Who else would look this handsome?" he replied with almost anything but an innocent look on his face.
"It's just that you've... changed."
"Have I?"
"I know this is quick, but can we go outside to talk? It's a little loud!" you yelled, emphasizing your point. "I just haven't seen you in forever, and I want to catch up," you told him, almost speaking to yourself. He couldn't help but bite the inside of his cheek at the cute display.
He looked around for an exit and, more importantly, for Q. "Do you see your brother?" he asked, leaning closer to your ear, his breath fanning over your ear and neck, sending shivers down your spine. It wasn't moist, and it definitely wasn't smelly. Had he used mouthwash before this?
You finally regained your composure and looked around to see if Q was within your sight. "No,"
"Good," he squeezed your shoulder and guided you through the crowd. He tucked you both away, making sure Q wouldn't be able to see either of you. "Just follow me."
Finally, the two of you reached an exit, and he pushed the door open. Outside was a breathtaking sight, with stars twinkling in the sky as if they were shining just for the two of you. But such a thought would be selfish, a wish unlikely to come true. The full moon casts an additional beam of light over both of you.
"Ah-" The cold hit your exposed skin, almost causing an immediate sensation of frostbite. You winced, raising your shoulders and bringing your hands to your exposed arms.
"Aw, are you cold?" he asked. But before you could tell him no, he was taking off his jacket before you knew it. "Q would kill me if you got sick."
"You don't have to," you whispered, almost a part of you not wanting him to take the jacket back. You wanted to blame it on the fact that you were cold and your body needed it, but at the same time, you reached up to tuck yourself further into the jacket. "You must be cold. You need it more than I do."
"I'm not shaking like a five-year-old," he scoffed, observing you trembling in the oversized jacket. "Let's sit." He led you over to a small bench facing the city lights. The air was crisp and clean, the wind cooling your face after the warmth inside.
You turned to ask him a question, but he cut you off. "How's your life been?"
"Fine, I guess."
"I guess isn't an answer. What would Q think of his sister having an 'I guess' time at her new school?"
You looked at him and then the city below. He had gotten closer to you, presumably seeking warmth. "I'll miss all my friends. And the time difference is... challenging."
He nodded, listening patiently. "You can always make new friends."
"Like who?"
"Me," he answered abruptly, almost too quickly.
"Q's told me about you," you smiled, lightly nudging his shoulder with your own. "Hang out with me one time, and your fan girls will come after me."
"What's wrong with a couple hundred followers?" He nudged back, trying to lighten the mood.
"Not a couple thousand?" You teased back. "You can tag me in a post of us eating together, and they'll run to me."
"And what if we're not eating?"
"Shopping is also fun."
"That's so basic. My followers already see that. They need something new."
"Like what?" You laughed, but it got quickly cut off as a warm hand cradled your cheek. Your smile turned to a look of confusion and then realization. His eyes remained fixed on yours, only diverting their gaze every few seconds.
Your heartbeat quickened, and you could feel it in your throat. Your cheeks and ears grew hot. Closing your eyes, you leaned in, anticipating the kiss, but his hand dropped to his side.
Blinking your eyes open, your face flushed with embarrassment. "S-sorry, I got the wrong idea."
Min Ho could only stare at you as if looking right through you. He had promised Q. He had promised one of his best friends. What was he doing? Why was he feeling like this? Not like he should have never even touched you in the first place. Not like he should have never noticed you. Like he should have never stopped touching your cheek. Like he should have leaned in.
You rambled on with your apologies, still embarrassed, as he continued to think. But he shouldn't be thinking; he should be following his heart. So he did.
"It’s my fault and-"
"Shut up for a second."
Gasping for air, you stared at him, and without words, his eyes flickered to your lips, and he leaned in again, closing the gap between you. Your fingers dug into the pocket of his jacket, not wanting to touch him yet. The feeling of butterflies couldn't even begin to describe what you felt.
A small, wordless sigh escaped your lips, indicating your need for air. He pulled back, and you both looked at each other with reddened lips. "How did you like your first kiss?"
"That wasn't my first kiss!" You protested.
"I feel bad for whoever was your first."
"Min Ho!"
