[ Housamotober ] - Day 25 - Teacher
Heyo! Looking forward to what else you'll write up! Could I get reaction hcs for the shinjuku teachers Mononobe, Triton, Jinn's reaction to MC full on blacking out in class. Like they look a lil sick and they get up to go to the bathroom/nurse and after a few steps just collapse. Nurse ends up telling em its because Mc has low blood sugar/is exhausted. Turns out Mc hasn't been eating or sleeping well for a while and has just been trying to get through the day.
Top 3 surefire ways to concern every member of faculty for the rest of your school life coming right up! God they’d all be so worried but I tried my best to make each of the scenarios different!
--------
Mononobe
Mr. Mononobe’s got the concerned parental instinct down to a T - his experience and years as a teacher means that when something’s going on he’s got at least some kind of inkling as to what’s going on. When you first enter the classroom he notices you looking paler than usual and you’re a bit unsteady on your feet so he stops you before you could sit down to ask if you’re feeling okay. Though you wave off the concern he makes sure to ask again if you’re really sure you’re up to sitting through the lesson, letting you know that you can catch up on the schoolwork another time if you need to go to the nurse’s office but he’ll relent if you really insist you’re fine.
He keeps an eye on you during the lesson, and it’s clear as time goes on that you’re getting worse; there’s a sickly color to your skin and you’re focusing so hard just to keep your head up. It all comes to a head when you ask to go to the bathroom and you almost make it to the door before you actually black out and topple back, Mononobe is able to catch you before you hit the floor but it’s clear you’ve passed out by how limp you are in his arms. His immediate priority is getting you straight to the nurses office and he instantly takes charge of the situation, leaving one of the other teachers to watch over the class and reassure the students as he rushes to get you into the care of the nurse. Even once you’re passed off into the nurses hands he’s filling them in on the situation, telling them about your condition when you came into class and some of the symptoms he recognized as they try and get you comfortable while they figure out what’s wrong.
When the nurse pulls him aside after you’re settled down and left under observation they let him know the possible causes behind your condition and that it’s likely the result of lack of sleeping/eating. Of course the news concerns him - as both your guardian and your teacher he feels responsible for not noticing your deteriorating health sooner and is understandably troubled upon learning that you haven’t been eating or sleeping. It’s something that he knows he’ll need to talk to you about, but for now Mononobe focuses on helping you recover before he confronts you about the issue as his biggest concern for the moment is making sure that you’re getting proper food and rest as soon as possible. You’re allowed to go back to your dorm room once you’re awake and Mononobe pulls some strings to grant you a couple of days off of school to recoup (though whether this is a curse or a blessing is up to whether you don’t go stir crazy being stuck on bedrest).
You’re visited often by various members of the Summoners to check in on you while you’re on bedrest. Mostly it’s during breaks and after school hours and they often bring plenty of snacks and things to keep yourself entertained (plus you can bet you damn near gave the lot of them a collective heart attack once they learned what had happened). Mr. Mononobe makes time to come by and see you as well to see how you’re holding up. It’s once you’re back on your feet that Mononobe decides to finally sit you down for an in-depth talk about what happened - the way you’ve been neglecting your body’s need to eat or sleep properly is a dangerous issue that should be taken seriously and he has a long talk with you about just how badly things could have ended if this had continued unchecked. He listens intently when you confide in him - about when it first started, how long it’s been going on for, the reasons behind it and he’s grateful that you open up to him about the issue as it gives him a better idea on how best to help you.
If it’s been and ongoing thing then Mononobe would see what he could do about getting you some form of counselling through the school system as he knows it’s best to get a professional involved who can provide the help that you really need, but he goes out of his way to keep communication open with you so that you know that his door is always open if you ever need anything, whether it’s advice or just someone to help shoulder your burdens - as he says ‘it’s what we teachers are here for’. On a more happier note Mr. Mononobe starts keeping snacks in his desk and if he notices that you or another one of his students need a pick-me-up he’ll toss a couple your way (much to Ryota’s and Kengo’s delight at being able to get away with eating in class). He keeps up to tabs on how you’re doing sleepwise as well even after things are going back to normal - it’s almost an instinct by this point but no-one can deny it’s endearing seeing the exchange followed by that signature hair ruffle as he sends you on your way.
Triton
Mr Triton was watching over one of the inside classes when he first notices you sort of slumped in your chair - you were looking down at your desk, completely ignoring the lesson and low enough that he at first mistakes it as you merely not paying attention to the lesson. Of course being the rather strict teacher he is he can’t have you missing out on such valuable lessons! and so he makes a move over to your desk to startle you out of your stupor, noticing the closer that he gets that you’re looking paler than usual and your position on your seat is not nearly as stable as it should have been but surely nothing’s wrong, right?
He goes to open his mouth to berate you when he hears you mumble something about the nurses office under your breath. You shift in your chair, trying to make a move to stand up but the momentum gets the better of you and then you’re collapsing and the floor is suddenly a lot closer than you remember. Triton has to all but dive to break your fall and by the time he’s got you propped back up you’re hardly coherent and seconds away from passing out. Some concerned students try to swarm in to see what’s happening but Triton is stern in demanding you space as he gets to his feet and motions to the other teacher that he’s going to take you out of the class. The moment he gets the go ahead he’s out the door and barging into the nurse's office in record time, loud enough that he nearly scares the poor nurse out of their seat before they even realize he’s got an unconscious student in his arms.
They end up having to physically shoo him out of the room once they’ve got you settled down so that they can find out what’s wrong in relative peace as his concern certainly gets the better of him. He learns more about the situation through Mr. Mononobe later in the day and is absolutely aghast to find out that in your struggle just to get through the day you’ve barely been eating or sleeping. He thinks back on the time leading up to your collapse in the classroom more critically and can’t help but fault himself for not realizing that you weren’t doing okay when he just assumed you were zoning off in class - in hindsight your demeanour at the time finally makes sense and he feels absolutely rotten for not recognizing the symptoms and reaching out to you to help even though realistically there’s no way he could have really known.
The next time you see Mr. Triton is when you’re finally well enough to start attending classes again and boy oh boy do you know when he notices you. He approaches you so suddenly that for a second you’re genuinely terrified he’s going to charge right into you but then he stops right before you and clasps his hands onto your shoulder. What comes next would be an absolute barrage of concerned questions about your health - are you well enough to come back to classes? Have you caught up on rest and eaten properly today? Do you need further help catching up on the classwork you’ve missed? And of course let’s not forget the details of how vital it is to maintain a healthy balance of sleep and sustenance to perform at your very best and keep your body fit and healthy for whatever challenges you may come across in your daily school life -
It’s almost a little too overbearing but honestly it just comes from a place of genuine concern for his student. He wasn’t there for you during such a stressful time and he’s more determined than ever to make up for that at every single opportunity - even if you attempt to reassure him that you’re doing better he’s determined to be an example of a model teacher whom you can rely on should anything like this happen again. Better get used to having the overprotective teach going out of his way to ensure the very best quality of life for his beloved student!
Jinn
Mr. Jinn actually catches you on the way out of class as he’s doing his rounds through the school. You’re one of the last students out of the class this time around as the others filter out into the hall and go about the rest of their school day, and he’s always eager to check in with a student about how their school day is going so of course he stops by to have a chat with you when he spots you. Sure you look a bit under the weather but you’re carrying yourself pretty well. He honestly doesn’t suspect that anything could be wrong until it happens.
Your responses suddenly filter off mid conversation, going eerily silent and your expression scrunches up into something similar to confused surprise as if suddenly realizing something. The only warning he gets is your blunt “wow,,,I think I’m gonna pass out” before you buckle and drop to the floor, just barely managing to grab hold of the teacher’s jacket to stop yourself from straight up face planting the flooring. Jinn is both shocked and panicked at how suddenly you fall but does his best to help keep you steady so you’re no longer in danger of falling, eventually settling for just hoisting you up. It’s fortunate that the hallways are just empty enough that the way to the nurse’s office is mostly straight forward and the whole while there he’s doing his best to rouse you awake and get you back into a responsive state growing increasingly more concerned the longer you’re unresponsive in his arms.
Though he’s kinda freaking out Jinn knows the steps to take once you’re finally passed off into the nurse’s care (though similar to Triton he has to be none too gently ushered out of the room when it’s clear you’re going to be with them for a while). He’s quick to notify Mr. Mononobe of what’s going on given he’s your legal guardian and paces around the office door the whole time waiting for the first sign that you’re going to be alright. He catches glimpses of some of the information that the nurses pass onto Mr. Mononobe and eventually the rest of the gaps get filled in on the situation once you’re given the clear to return back to your dorm room. Though Jinn’s always been eager to let his students know on plenty of occasions that they can come to him for any help and advice they might need he feels as though he didn’t do enough - perhaps if he’d been more welcoming and insistent you might have opened up about what was going on before it had gotten to this point?
Similar to the other teachers he’s eager to hear any updates on your condition when you’re not attending classes and is relieved to learn the steps that have been taken towards your recovery are helping in any way. By the time you do finally return back to your normal classes Jinn’s somewhat more casual when approaching you about what happened, though in the end he ends up asking just about the same barrage of worried questions that Mr. Triton did with just as much tact as the obviously fretting teacher is known for.
Mr. Jinn’s probably batting against Mr. Triton for protective teacher of the year award because when their concern for a student is combined you’ll probably never know a moment of peace (the two of them have probably come close to throwing hands over how best to look out for you and honestly it wouldn’t be a surprise. Neither are subtle about it in the slightest but Jinn at least comes off as the most chill and supportive about it. He wants you to know that you can reach out when you’re struggling and even understands that it’s gonna be easier for you to confide in your friends more than the adults sometimes and assures you that that’s okay too. So long as you’re comfortable coming to him and the other teachers about this kind of stuff in the future every once in a while he’s happy, because at the end of the day your safety and well being is what’s important.
