I am this close to losing it.
If see one more person complaining about Ms. Marvel...
So many people are whining about Ms. Marvel's power change and the damn show isn't even out yet.
Has no one else realized that the essence of what she is the same?
Has no one else realized that her charcater and therefore her unlearning racism is still there?
Has no else realized that it's the orgin of her powers that are different, and that she's using them the same way?

Has no one else even considered that they're changing her powers make sense form a thematic standpoint? Making her similar to Carol and Monica, while still keeping her unique? Does no one else see similarities with Shang-chi's Ten Rings?
Is no one willing to wait and see what actually happenes? Is everyone already writing it off, even though the similarities are there, just because it isn't the same?
I'm also worried that the sheer amount of hate about the change is going to convince other people that having a Muslim character is not worth it.
Sure, Marvel may still keep her. But what about after that? What about other brown boys and girls, Muslim boys and girls? What about more charcaters that can be introduced and created because of Kamala?
As a brown girl who wanted to be a superhero when she was little, and then wished for something miraculous, or extraordinary to happen to her as she got older....
That hurts. It hurts to think about. Losing chances of seeing more people like me because of people who're so hurt that something like powers being changed.
It's not that I don't understand why people are worried. If the can't keep the core of who she is, then what is the point?
But we need to give it a chance. There's been only one trailer out, barely two minutes long. There isn't enough information to say anything.
I love Ms. Marvel. I relate to her. But I'm done with all the people who want carbon copies and can't understand the difference between the spirit of something and the letter of something.
