A part of Mujin wanted people he valued most to believe in him, to choose him and prioritize him over everything else the same way he prioritized Jiwoo and believed in her despite what everyone else told him and how they warned him. This is a man who would have literally sacrificed everything and given the whole world to someone he values. He just wanted to receive that same unconditional love of someone understanding him and trusting him all the way through, perhaps despite his mistakes. Until the very last moment he was trying to keep people he loves safe and away(he was trying to send Jiwoo away so her life doesn’t get ruined) from harm even if that harm was her knowing the hidden truth of his life or her having to make the choice to kill. Until the very last moment he wanted to let her have a way out and to let her be safe and not ruin her life. I have a feeling that if he had reached that climax of someone unconditionally believing in him and loving him despite his mistakes, he would have aimed to lead a slightly different life for the sake of that person. Maybe he would sacrifice everything and everyone just to keep that person safe and in a way maybe sacrifice himself but also would want to keep himself alive because only he can truly make sure that the people he values are safe because only he can truly have that form of control over their life.
