I can't say I knew what to expect with it, but Songs from the Prairie by Derek Morgan turned out to be a really good folk album. His lyrics are pure poetry, some of the best I've heard in years, and his melodic singing paired with a very stripped down instrumentals makes for a really personal album. I'll admit, I cried a few times hearing his voice quiver with some of the lyrics, a really open look at a man trying to accept himself even when the place he grew up in wouldn't. I honestly can't believe I hadn't heard of him before, with songs like that he's made one of the best folk albums this year. He made a fan out of me with one listen of the album, and I've already been looking out for when he tours anywhere near me. I can't wait to see him in person.

With this new crop of massive college students, there had to be some changes to the dress code for graduation.
