chapter nine

naoya insisted that gojo let him handle the situation of getou keeping his little girlfriend hostage. gojo only agreed after much reluctance, when naoya said that he knew getou well, and that he could schedule a meeting. a meeting without the presence of satoru.

gojo didn’t take well to naoya’s plan at first, but he needed to use someone close to getou to even begin to think about saving you from your captivity. naoya used the zenin name to jumpstart his many corrupt businesses, one of them being a large night club in tokyo’s red light district. satoru met the zenin clan member at his club to finalize the deal.

gojo’s athletic legs pushed him through the loud club at a swift pace. the man tried his best to not get distracted by the abundance of beautiful women dancing and fraternizing under the flashing lights. he continued to push through the crowd determinedly, making his way to the vip section that overlooked the dance floor from above. he wanted to get the deal over and done with, because he already wasn’t happy with the terms.

the vip lounge was just as gojo had imagined, fitting to naoya’s extravagant taste. the room was glowing from the dim purple lights. cocktail waitresses hovered around the room serving naoya and his men hand and foot. it seemed that naoya was living as if he were already the head of the zenin clan, though he had a long way to go to reach that goal. satoru thought about this, as he approached the men relaxing on the large leather sofa.

“ah! satoru!” naoya beckoned from his seat as he sipped from his rocks glass. gojo took a seat on the adjacent sofa, “zenin.” he acknowledged casually. satoru unfolded a bank slip and pushed it across the marble coffee table that was littered with bottles of miscellaneous champagnes and liquors. satoru crossed a leg over his knee before speaking, “it’s all there, already been sent to the routing number you provided.”

the corner of naoya’s lip perked slightly seeing the amount of money gojo was willing to cough up to find you. naoya’s shaggy black tipped—blonde hair partially obscured his view of the blind folded man in front of him, but he could still see how unhappy gojo was to be there with him. although satoru would never admit it, he felt quite embarrassed for not being able to find getou’s domain. it should have been an easy feat, but it seems getou had gotten better at his craft.

gojo searched all of tokyo from top to bottom in search of an entryway to the realm that kept you hostage, with no luck. the world's strongest sorcerer had been outwitted, resulting in gojo having to call in a favor from someone he could never respect. naoya zenin. potential heir to the zenin clan. the man was more confident than even satoru gojo himself. that fact only irked gojo more, but naoya was his last resort in his efforts to find you.

gojo leaned forward with his palms clasped together in his lap, “this has to work zenin. there can be no fuck ups.” naoya took another sip from his glass, still lounging comfortably, “you worry too much satoru. i told you, just leave it all to me.”

while getou was busy securing the sorcerer’s the two of you rescued from being human sacrifices a new home, you were busy training with your scythe. the training room felt especially warm and humid, since you had been training for hours. it was the only thing that took your mind off of the recent events. with every thrash and swing of the long blade, you felt a small sense of relief.

you had just begun to come to terms with your feelings for suguru, when your once sure view of the world became clouded. your goal as a sorcerer was always to protect non-sorcerer’s, but what you witnessed at the temple made you question the entirety of your beliefs. had getou been right all along? would the world actually be a better place with the absence of non-sorcerer’s? you weren’t sure. you had never felt more conflicted.

you continued training, planting one foot and swinging the other up high in a hard kick, all while bringing the scythe over your head—slicing your Imaginary opponent. your chest rose and fell at a quick pace. your body felt completely worn from the rigorous session, when a clapping sound rang out from behind you. you turned to see getou leaning on the door frame with a smug look on his face, clapping his hands in amusement.

“well done. you’ve grown a lot during your time here.” he said pridefully. you swung the scythe around, letting the blade drag across the floor as you walked towards the man. “i took out a whole group of sorcerer-hating fanatics the other day, and you're only just now noticing that my form has improved?” you stood in front of him, matching his playful expression as you waited for a response.

getou hummed, quickly pulling you by the waist to close the distance between your bodies. you dropped your weapon in surprise, looking into his dark eyes—that were just inches away from your own in surprise. getou licked his lips before speaking, “i’ve always known your potential.” he drawled in a low tone. “your greatness has never gone unnoticed.”

you opened your mouth to speak, but couldn’t summon the words. the man had rendered you speechless, no one had ever said such a thing to you. getou always had a talent of saying so much in very little words, but his eloquence had never struck you so hard before. you blinked up at the man as his fingers laced through your hair at the base of your skull, locking his lips to your own.

your cheeks flushed as his tongue prodded at your lips requesting entrance to your mouth, and you allowed it. your tongues danced across each other slowly. the two of you took your time in the moment, not wanting to rush anything. you gripped onto his broad shoulders to steady yourself, as you stood on the tips of your toes. getou hummed into your mouth and gripped onto your waist even harder. he leaned in, causing your back to arch backwards. you had no fear of falling—you trusted getou more than anyone. you knew that you were safe in his arms.

the man eventually pulled away reluctantly. you blinked up at him, feeling irritated that your kisses always seemed to get cut short. getou looked down on you with soft eyes, and continued to massage your scalp gently. “i have to go out tonight.” he whispered in a low tone.

you arched a brow, “and where might we be going?” the sorcerer faltered for a moment, “we aren’t going anywhere. it’s too dangerous for you. the last field trip we took was enough.” he looked down to the hand he had on your waist, “i do want you to continue getting stronger, but i also don’t want to put you in needlessly dangerous situations.”

you thought back to the last time getou left during the night. the night that mahito attacked you. a night that you would never forget. you cleared your throat, “where you go, i go. that’s my final decision.” you commanded. a smile formed on getou’s lips once more, “when did you start calling the shots around here?” you traced a hand from his shoulder up to his neck, cupping the side of his jaw, “since i made you cum.” you chirped in a sarcastic tone.

getou’s hand moved down to your ass, gripping it hard. his eyes darkened as he chuckled at your words, “you're going to need a new outfit for where we’re going.” it was your turn to look at him quizzically, “where are we going this time?” suguru leaned down to whisper into your ear, “out.”

by the time you made it back to getou’s bedroom—which you had taken over as your own, you noticed that the house spirits had left an outfit for you on the bed. the small black dress wasn’t what you were expecting when getou said you would be needing a new outfit, and your curiosity peaked when you noticed the handwritten note next to the dress.

you could recognize getou’s neat penmanship anywhere, his strokes were always long and precise. you couldn’t help but grin, reading his elegant handwriting.

“i hope that i know your body well enough by now to have guessed your size right.” you continued reading, fighting the urge to roll your eyes. he was insufferable, even on paper. “be ready in a hour.” you tried to figure out where the two of you might be going as you ran your fingers over where he signed off at the bottom of the page, “—yours, suguru.”

getou paced around the living room while waiting for you to appear from the master bedroom. the sorcerer couldn’t figure out why naoya suddenly wished to have a meeting with him, it had been quite a while since he had seen the zenin clan member. the two weren’t the closest of friends, but they definitely knew each other better than to call each other an acquaintance.

getou knew that naoya shared similar beliefs about non-sorcerer’s but that still didn’t justify calling a meeting. nonetheless, suguru had accepted. he figured he might as well hear zenin out, on whatever he wished to discuss.

getou stopped short at the sight of you exiting the bedroom. the man felt starstruck for a moment, having never seen you so done up before. it seemed he had guessed your size exactly right, because that little black dress was hugging every curve of your body perfectly. he couldn’t help but notice that you took the time to do your makeup and hair differently too, you looked so different. so good.

you clasped your hands behind your back, feeling uncomfortable under his scrutinizing stare. the man didn’t utter a word which only made you feel even more self conscious, was it too much? you wondered. you thought maybe you should turn around and head back to the bathroom to try to tone down your look when getou finally spoke.

“you clean up nicely, doll.”

you had gotten so used to getou’s transportation technique that it turned into your preferred means of traveling. you could end up in your desired destination in an instant, though you weren’t sure what made getou desire to go to a crowded nightclub. when the two of you materialized into the loud and dark environment, your eyes went wide for a moment. suguru had never been the clubbing type, so as you allowed the man to pull you through the crowd, you wondered what the meaning of this trip was.

getou’s broad frame cut through the crowd like water, weaving in and out of the hoards of people with ease. you wanted to question him as to why you were here but the music was too loud, and he was moving too quick. you spotted a cocktail waitress in the crowd and snagged a drink off of her tray. you were moving so quick that she didn’t even notice.

you didn’t feel too guilty for stealing the drink because based on getou’s body language, you guessed whatever business the two of you had here was serious—and you needed something to take the edge off.

suguru’s quick pace came to a halt once the two of you reached the bottom of a dark staircase. finally turning to face you, getou looked at the drink in your hand with slight irritation, “where did you get that?” he asked. you were unfazed by his annoyance, because you were slightly annoyed yourself. the man hadn’t said a word since the two of you materialized here, and he still hadn’t bothered to tell you what your purpose here was.

you narrowed your eyes up at the man, “i’ll tell you where i got it when you tell me why we're here.” getou shifted on his feet, “we’re here to meet someone.” you blinked, waiting for him to continue. “naoya zenin.” your brows furrowed, in confusion, and getou waved a hand trying to dismiss whatever direction your thought pattern was going, because you knew naoya. not personally, but you knew he was a zenin clan member who caused a lot of trouble for the sorcerer’s at jujutsu tech in the past.

“before you say anything, i don’t know why he called this meeting, but i do want to hear him out. i want to know if he knows of the curse users we rescued from the temple the other day.” he paused for a moment. “i have them in a safe place with one of my men right now, but if he knows that i plan to create an army— we might have a problem.”

you simply nodded, letting his words sink in. you gripped onto his hand once more, allowing him to lead you up to the vip lounge. the space was milling with people, though it wasn’t as crowded as the club below. there were still cocktail waitresses carrying around platters of drinks, but you couldn’t help but notice that the women working in this lounge were much prettier than the ones working below.

suguru turned to face you once more, but you were hardly able to keep your eyes on him. you could see naoya lounging on one of the seats in the conversation pit—nursing a dark drink. you narrowed your eyes at the man over getou’s shoulder, your intuition told you that he was not to be trusted.

getou traced his large palm up and down the length of your arm in a comforting manner, bringing your attention back to him. the man looked almost concerned as he spoke, “look i’d like for you to keep your distance from naoya, be a doll and hang out at the bar for a bit so i can see you. yeah?” he didn’t wait for you to answer, he simply placed a heavy black card in your hand. “buy out the bar for all i care, just stay where i can see you.”

you looked down to the heavy credit card in your hand and back up to getou, “well i guess i do need a drink after spending so much time around you.” your tease finally made getou’s signature smirk reappear on his lips. “have fun. and remember-“ you waved the man off, turning to make your way to the bar, “yeah, yeah. stay where you can see me. i know.”

three lemon drops in and you couldn’t figure out what was taking so long. you leaned against the bar, not only watching how getou’s conversation was going, but you were also observing everyone in the lounge. you weren’t the only one loitering around the bar, in fact there were a number of people close enough that you could eavesdrop on their conversation even with the loud music playing. you had no ill intentions. you just found yourself feeling quite bored, and also a little tipsy.

the girls closest to you were betting on which man in the room had the most money. while a group of men all dressed in formal suits stood at the end of the bar. you thought that they kind of stood out. not because of their dress, no. everyone in the lounge was dressed in a similar manner, in regards to the formality of the outfits. these men stood out because they had been standing at the bar for the same length of time as you, but hadn’t ordered anything. your tipsy brain quickly dismissed the oddity, and you reverted your attention back to your drink.

getou was good to keep a keen eye on you, even while his conversation with naoya grew tense. getou’s black hair was tied back in its usual half up-half down style. a loose strand fell in front of his right eye, slightly obscuring his view of the man in front of him. he felt himself growing tired of the long winded conversation—about nothing that naoya was carrying.

suguru could hardly hear what the zenin man was rambling about, and gave into his agitation by cutting the man off in the middle of his sentence. “—what is the reason for this meeting, zenin.” naoya’s cheerful facade was replaced with a cold demeanor. the man squared off his shoulders, sitting up in his seat to speak to getou directly, “your new girlfriend is the reason suguru.” naoya deadpanned, as his eyes flashed over to you at the bar.

by that time, the group of girls had struck up a conversation with you over shots, that you weren’t paying attention to the two men across the room anymore. “what interest do you have in her?” getou questioned the blonde man, feeling the muscles in his jaw tighten.

zenin’s face softened a little, seeing the tense reaction he had gotten out of suguru,”it’s not me that’s interested. your old pal satoru wants her back.” getou tried to calm himself after hearing those infuriating words by taking a sip out of the rocks glass in front of him. “and why should i care about what gojo wants?” getou asked, sucking his teeth from the bitter drink.

naoya leaned forward then, “because. gojo is willing to go to war over her.” getou sat up in his chair, matching naoya’s body language, “war is already on the horizon.” after finishing his sentence, getou looked over to the bar in search of you. except neither you, nor the group of suited men were there anymore.

getou immediately felt panic and red hot anger shoot through his body. the man lurched forward, grabbing naoya by the neck and taking him to the floor in one swift motion. getou yelled at the man’s face while everyone in the room turned to watch the spectacle, “WHERE IS SHE!” suguru yelled, with exposed teeth.

naoya couldn’t speak with getou’s hand gripping his windpipe but the man smiled from beneath him anyways, knowing that he had successfully got over on him.
