Vaermina and Necrom

Here’s my writeup on Vaermina but for Tumblr

Vaermina is the Daedric Prince of Dreams and Nightmares whose spheres of influence are entwined dark omens, fear, and corruption.

We meet her in ESO during the Stormhaven Zone Story Questline. She attempts to take control of the Daggerfall Covenant through replacing major figures with her minions. The greatest of these is almost replacing King Emeric with her own consort, but however the Vestige intervenes and stops her plan. She attempts to trap the Vestige in her realm as punishment but they of course escape.

A Vaermina pillow furnishing has also been confirmed as of this time.

Among the adversaries introduced this chapter was mercenary vampires called the Dusksavers. This seems odd and out of place at first, but there could be some reasons involving Vaermina.

There is a connection between Vaermina and Vampires. For those who have played older games, a staple of Vampirism was the horrific nightmares one would get. It gets deeper than that though, Morrowind has a quest for vampires who wish to cure themselves. Molag Bal, creator of Vampires doesn't have the cure but he knows that Vaermina does.

Vaermina's spheres of influence also include corruption and it's said that "She delights in mortals that are unafraid to kill in pursuit of power." This sounds like an antagonist introduced during the stream, Telvanni Magister Shilrini (?) Baro. According to the livestream "Magister Baro seeks to climb the ranks of her house by any means necessary." This is exactly what Vaermina likes from mortals and a trait she would chose in a champion.

Another thing about Vaermina is that she's the enemy of our confirmed ally Mora. The reason for this is that while Hermaeus Mora's domains concern knowledge which is linked to memory (Water is also memory in TES). Vaermina has an eye for stealing memories according to lore. Her Daedric Artifact, the Skull of Corruption, literally steals the memories from sleeping people due to her hunger for them. This places her and Mora as enemies.

Vaermina is also the enemy of two Dunmeri anticipations: Azura and Boethiah. Necrom as mentioned in the stream is a very ancient that predates the Tribunal and is from the days of the Chimer. Boethiah, Mephala, and Azura were worshipped by the Chimer as part of the "Good Daedra" back then. Hermaeus Mora's sibling is Mephala and it's said he has connections to the forming of the Morag Tong (Likely part of the reason Naryu Virian and Ashur are making reappearances this chapter).

And for the finale of my writeup: Vaermina's last dialogue to the Vestige in Stormhaven hints at such a plot.

She says this: "Even if you escape Quagmire, mortal, you will not escape my vengeance. I can be patient, very patient. Goodbye … for now."

TLDR: Vaermina is likely the antagonist this chapter, the vampires mercs are probably connected to her, Magister Baro is probably working with her, and the "Good Daedra" of Morrowind might be involved.
