Right! I feel like if he would recruit you he’d have it stuck in his head that he’s responsible for you now since he was the one who pulled you into this whole thing.

That gave me a little idea so, i wrote it (and i made myself sad :( )

Neil x Reader

“(y/n)? hey! look at me”

You could hear Neil’s voice echoing in your head. The sharp pain above your stomach made it impossible to answer, you tilted your head to look at the figure kneeling next to you. Your breath became faster and more shallow, you open your mouth to speak.

“no, no don’t” Neil shook his head as he lifted your shirt to examine the gun wound.

“I’ll fix it, you just...i need you to stay calm okay?” The pain was growing stronger, you reached to grab his hand and squeezed it tightly.

“Neil...” you started

“no, no, no don’t talk, please. I’ll get you help, I can fix this. hey, you hear me?”

You looked up at his face and nodded quickly.

“you’ll be fine, you’ll be fine i promise” Your body shivered, was it from the pain, cold, or were you just scared?

Laying on the ground you could see the blood covering Neil’s hands as he applied the bandages over your wound.

“is it all mine?” you thought and instantly felt dizzy. You knew he’d help, you knew you were in safe hands, you trusted him...but your eyelids felt heavy. You knew you couldn’t close your eyes, you’ve helped him save people before, you knew letting them drift away was dangerous.

“... I’m scared” you said quietly “Neil... I’m sorry, I’m scared.”

“No, no don’t be sorry” he started, trying to calm you down “I know what I’m doing you’ll be alright I promise”. You shivered again and he pulled you up so you could rest your head on his chest.

“Just don’t close your eyes love, okay?” He held you tightly in his arms as he placed a kiss on your forehead. “You can’t close your eyes, you can’t. Do you understand?” He stroked your hair gently and you could swear you head pain in his voice. “

I’ll be alright” you whispered as you tried to keep your own body from shutting down “i promise”
