Park Jimin doesn’t know what it means to stay. At least, he hasn’t known since he turned eighteen and realized that there is a world that lies beyond the little bubble of his hometown that he’s spent way too long occupying. As soon as he figured out that freedom is not just some intangible concept, that freedom is achievable and something that he craved more deeply than a desire to remain rooted, he had packed up his belongings and left. He didn’t even think twice about it, for there was nothing keeping him around in the suburban landscape—a few close friends, sure, but hardly a family. There are faces and names, but it just serves as a reminder than his life has lacked so many things because of them.
All of those things were fine with him, serving as one of the main reasons why he didn’t bat an eye to applying to the universities hundreds of miles away, why he didn’t stick around for the goodbyes as he committed to the first university to accept him, why he just loaded his car and drove off without looking back.
It’s been nearly three years since that evening, since he packed his trunk in the middle of the night and drove until the sun crept over the horizon; three years since he left a house that’s never been a home, yet he doesn’t regret a single moment of that. There’s a certain joy that comes with solitude, in stepping onto a train and not knowing what the destination entailed, of not knowing what stop to get off of, of knowing that no matter how far he goes or how long he disappears there will be no one waiting for him.
Well, almost no one waiting for him.

It’s a relatively normal day in the Underworld—grey, the usual shade that embodies this part of the Underworld, and no sunlight, making it relatively misty, with fog enveloping the ghost-like figures roaming the plains. Yoongi walks along the meadows of the asphodel, his bare feet feeling the cold soil that has hardened over the past centuries, yet still jutting out the off-white flowers with eerie grey leaves for the souls of the dead to eat. His white, pale skin stands out in his all black attire, as if glowing against the grey background. That’s what the meadows of asphodel consists of, grey skies, grey ghosts, and grey flowers.
He’s heading towards the well, on the far side of the plains, away from prying eyes. This well is no ordinary well. It does not contain water, only the power to lift him from the Underworld to the land of being without any notice. Yoongi is a simple man. He doesn’t want or need much. Being the ruler of the Underworld, he is used to the lack of interaction from fellow deities, and he basks in it. He spends his days in his humble abode in Tartarus, the pandemonium of the Underworld, playing the organon with his thin and long fingers, sleeping a little bit longer than everyone else given that there is no sunshine to protrude through the window curtains to act as an alarm, or walking alone at his own pace along the Asphodel meadows, and the land of being. Min Yoongi is a simple man, and he enjoys being alone.
Nearing the well, his bleak eyes land on a figure. He furrows his brows in confusion, and his feet march a little faster to his secret escape that doesn’t seem to be secret anymore.
