This is true actually, take the Ever Expanding Bunker as an example.

It's a sad fact that every long running universe based upon themes and tones of isolation, limiality, and cosmic horror gets worn down by overexplanation, overpopulation of the universe with entities, overuse, and eventually irony and financial exploitation. Derlething happened to Lovecraft, it happened to SCPs, it happened in record times to the backrooms.

Recently I played through all of the segments of Anthology of the Killer, a nice little murderous experience through and through. I only realized until afterwards that all of the chases never ended up with BB forced to restart so that alongside the progression of explorable areas helped with maintaining the flow. Each segment had a proper story, some more impactful than others, which built up the twisted world of the Killer and the eventual bloody conclusion. Quite frankly, it is experiences such as these which make me want to tell stories or make games of horror myself.
Ears of the Killer definitely had some of the best atmosphere of the segments, with the section wherein ZZ tries to get “gainfully employed” at the Positive Way LLC cult thing being of particular prominence in my neuron lipid cluster thing in the cranium. It was interesting seeing the world from a different perspective character since that is where much of the game’s best writing rested.
Morgueal of the story: The new wave is rapidly approaching.

The lost denizens of Hell’s upper layers as presented in Ultrakill. I have always been a fan of these data-driven terminal entries or scientific catalogues, a feature which a few of you may seen of my previous work. These weaker beings were likely unable to survive the onslaught of the machines or the trials of that wretched “palace” so assume that their kind are few and far between.

Featuring also this enemy design based off of the terrace of Pride to be featured in the Ultrakill fan project Purgatorio. What is there not to like about killer nutcrackers?
It has been about a year since I had first heard word of HorrorVale, after much time in development I am glad to see that it will finally be reaching its terminal release!
Alice (real):

It is quite important to be supporting small developers, even more so those who indulge in the horrific and… vale-ish? This Autumn season will be a great welcome to another entry into the lineage of RPG Maker achievements.
Bonus Alice:

I will be seeing you on the first of October.

An entire decade of Awful Hospital.
I do feel a little disingenuous posting this one since I had only read the sum of the comic in April 2024, yet still I thought it was righteous to commemorate. I myself have been in the field of making webcomics for only a few years (or a handful of months publicly on Webtoon) so I find this dedication to the grim, grotesque, gesticulating, ghastly, gastrointestinal, gnarly and glorious to be of particular admiration. Go and read it all for yourself! (https://bogleech.com/awfulhospital/intro)
