God I don't think I've ever loved a character solely on account of their name as fast as I've loved Beetle from the Septimus Heap series. O. Beetle Beetle. The joy that shoots through me whenever I see/even think of it is just immeasurable.

Also shout out to 10 y/o me who was legitimately angry with Jenna for ignoring Beetle after that whole deal with the Darke Domain and the Manuscriptorium. I know she didn't really in reality and had other things to deal with at the time but also grew and apologized for it in Fyre but god I really was all for Beetle at that time, I would've gone to war for that boy.

every once in a while O. Beetle Beetle comes out of some random trapdoor and takes a stroll through my brain. he doesn't say anything. he just whistles "how much is that weasel in the window" tunelessly. sometimes he sits down with a cup of that fizzy stuff Marcia doesn't like.
