The Council Chairwoman is not fond of screaming—she doesn’t need it. Jereth knows this better than any government official who works with her. He lays back down, his head filled with what if’s and if only’s as he tries to coax his eyes into closing. It doesn't work.
The room is cramped and dusty, in fact, so much so that he can’t tell the last time someone was in here. For a minute, he thinks about going through the cabinets in the name of clearing his head, but surely, that wouldn’t be appreciated. Instead, he walks to the small, dirty window and gazes at the world below.
