my issue with the tiktok censoring is that. like. it’s clearly just for brands. if someone is uncomfortable saying swearing (or knows someone has a problem seeing it), you substitute fuck for either f*ck or f*** (asterisks corresponding to letters). but it’s NOT for people, it’s for the algorithm, which is why we get seggs rather than s*x (some people don’t like seeing the word, and that IS okay. saying “biseggsual” rather than “bisexual”? less okay because it’s not your choice). it’s not actually helping anyone, it’s just censorship. and it effects topics that need to be discussed, like safe sex, sexuality, substance use and abuse. and those are just examples!!!

tl;dr - tiktok-speak isn’t for users, it’s for advertisers, and *that’s* why it’s bad
