summary: reader has had a fat crush on Jay since freshman year and she is now a senior. Her friends are tired of her not doing anything so they are pushing her to tell him. She’s just too nervous to admit her crush because he doesn’t show interest in any girls. Will that change?

warnings: swearing, but mostly fluff (reader and jay and both 18 for most of the story), jay comes off as an asshole in the beginning, jay is like a nerd (but all the girls obsess over him.) + lots of time skips got a little lazy sorry. (there are some parts written in korean if you would like the translation it is at the bottom)

"I'm super shy, super shy but wait a minute while I make you mine, make you mine. 떨리는 지금도 you're on my mind all the time I wanna tell you but I'm super shy."

The song blasts from your speaker as you put on makeup and talk to your friends while getting ready for school. You zoned out minutes ago after they started lecturing you, so you can make a move on your crush.

"Are you even listening? Gosh even the song is calling you out." Danielle laughs squeezing the pillow in her lap. While Minji smacks Dani’s shoulder “그녀를 놀리지 마세요” Minji scolds her while holding back a laugh. You're confused until you finally realize what song is playing.

"When you say I'm your dream. You don’t even know my name, do ya? You don't even know my name, do ya?"

You roll your eyes looking at your friends through your vanity mirror. You finally turn around and face them pouting. Hanni gives you a sympathetic look taking a deep breath before standing up from your bed. "You know I understand where she's coming from. Park Jongseong can be intimidating." she says defending you as you give her a tight lip smile.

"Dani's right" you admit throwing yourself on your bed while all of your friends look at each other in shock. "What? ___ are you feeling alright? Do you want to go to the hospital?" Minji questions putting a hand on your shoulder.

Brushing her hand off your shoulder you roll onto your stomach groaning into the pillow. “I want to tell him but… he just seems so uninterested anytime a girl talks to him.” Your friends can barely understand what you’re saying but they all look at each other and pout.

Danielle stands up and claps her hands once. You all turn your head to look at her and she starts pacing around your room. “You know what we are going to do!? You’re going to talk to him today at school no if’s, and’s, or buts. You see him at his locker every day before lunch talk to him about…” Dani puts a hand on her chin thinking about a topic.

“Ah ah! Ask him if he’s going to the pep rally!” Hanni suggests and Minji nods in approval while closing her eyes pretending to think of the scenario. “___ I think that would be a good conversation starter!” Minji squeals as you look at them with fear.

“Something odd about you, yeah you’re special and you know it you’re the top babe”

“I’m scared-" your friends groan in dissatisfaction ready to scold you “but I’ll do it.” Their jaws drop and right when Dani goes to talk Minji’s phone rings.

“응…알았어 우리 지금 가고있어“ Minji hangs up and sighs. “Dani… Hanni… ___... our time has ended now” she whispers putting her hand on Hanni’s knee shaking her head.

“Ugh what are you talking about stop being annoying. We have to go to school?” Dani pouts rolling her eyes as Minji nods. As you guys get ready to leave your house Hanni reminds you that you have to talk to Park Jongseong. You smile at your friends because truthfully, they are like sisters to you. Even though they push you out of your comfort zone they’re always there to reassure you that it’s okay.

It was now the next day, and your friends were a couple lockers down from where you are currently standing now. Throwing you thumbs up and ‘fighting’ motions. You walked up to Jongseong’s locker tugging at your uniform as your palms get sweaty. It took your friends a bunch of pep talks to get you here. It’s time... you’re doing this.. you got this.

“Hey Jongseong” you force a smile tapping his shoulder as he puts his books in his locker. He turns around same face expressionless and uninterested. “Hey.” he replies dryly, you see your friends' nervous expressions from the corner of your eye.

“I’m in your science class… um anyway-" You are about to continue until you’re rudely cut off. “Yeah, I know." He buts in with the same expression on his face.

"Well, I was sort of wondering. If you were going... to the pep rally today? You know just wondering nothing weird..." You laugh dryly, and he shuts his locker sighing. He subtly looks at you up and down before walking off. Fuck this is so embarrassing you look over at your friends and they are frowning at you and burning holes in the back of Park Jongseong's head.

"Are you coming? I'm not waiting here all day" Jay calls out with attitude laced in his tone. You turn around as your brows lace together in confusion. Oh... he talking to you. OH... he's talking to you?! You run up to his side following him to the lunch line.

Jay drops his chopsticks on his tray "Aish... could you like please relax? You're so tense right now I feel like you're choking me... and are you sure you didn't want anything to eat?" How does he sound so rude and sweet at the same time and look so hot. "Sorry... and no I'm okay. Thank you" You respond avoiding eye contact with him looking around the lunchroom for your friends. "To answer your question yes" Jay blurts out.

"Huh?" you finally turn your attention to him. His eyebrows are pushed together, and his lips are in a pout as he picks up some ramen and puts it in a small bowl. "The pep rally? My friends are telling me to go. Why does it concern you?" He pushes the small bowl on ramen towards you and grabs his extra pair of chopsticks.

You stare at him blankly for a little bit before grabbing the chopsticks and breaking them apart. How does he know you're actually starving? Maybe he's just being nice. "Oh... I was just wondering I don't know. I never see you at events. Can I ask why you told me to come with you?" You push regretting talking too much.

"Oh... are you going? And I told you to come with me because I thought you were going to ask me to tutor you. I'm starting to like your company though." You're too busy fixating on him telling you that he likes your company to realize he asked you something. He looks up at you waiting for a response and finish chewing your ramen before responding.

"Oh me? Yeah, my friends want me to go to." you admit to him, and he smiles for a second. "Maybe if you get bored, we can sit together?" you suggest. What is up with you today being so bold for once. He smiles for a second getting up as the bell rings and mumbles 'maybe' before walking out the lunchroom without you.

"AHH!! OMG HE TOTALLY WANTS YOU" Hanni yells as you are packing up at the end of the day. Minji slaps her hand over Hannis mouth shaking her head. "Hanni we are still in school. ___ I think he has interest in you because he never acts like that."

Dani closes her locker and as you guys walk outside, she asks "He said he invited you because he thought you wanted him to tutor you?" You nod and she hums grabbing your arm telling you she'll plan the wedding. You roll your eyes laughing "Guys I'm sure it's not that serious." Hanni looks around, then at you guys' and her eyes widen and mouth wide open as she tries telling you guys to go another way.

"What?.... Hanni speak up. Hanni what are you sayin- OMG WHAT?" Danielle screams dropping her arms on her side looking around as she sees what Hanni was freaking out about. She throws her hand on her mouth and drags everyone a different way.

"Park Jongseong was back there with his friends oh my- what the hell Hanni why didn't you say anything?!" Hanni throws her sweater at Danielle. "I did try ugh!!! Wait... you don't think he heard right?" You all look at each other shaking your heads trying to convince yourselves that he didn't.

"I doubt it right? Whatever we have to get ready for the pep rally." Minji tries shaking off the subject while biting her nails. You can't even worry when you're too focused on how you actually spoke to Jay today.

You are now sitting alone on the bleachers as you wait for your friends to come back with snacks. You close your eyes as everyone screams for the football team to 'keep pushing!' Until you feel a someone next to you. You open your eyes and quickly turn to them and it's... Jay?

"Hey." He starts the conversation still keeping that uninterested persona. Your mind is racing with so many thoughts... he actually came to talk to you? "Hi." You manage to say, and he's quiet for a bit.

"I thought you said you were coming here with friends. Do you not have any?" He asks looking at the football field and you hear his friends talking super loud about this situation. "I do. They went to get snacks..." You snap back and he smiles to himself.

"Was hoping you said no." He turns to look at you and you stare back. "What?" you ask him to be sure you hear him right. He groans rolling his eyes. "I was hoping you'd say no. You know so we can hang out." He repeats himself to you.

"But... your barley even know my name. You want to hang out with me?" You question him and he looks at you slightly nodding his head. "Yeah. I do know you. Remember science class? And we were lab partners in Sophomore year too for... Science." He reminds you.

"You remember me from Sophomore year?" This cannot be real right now. He nods once again whispering "Of course I do... Do you know how many girls I have ignored because of you?" Wait is he admitting that he likes you right now? What the fuck is going on holy crap. "Wait seriously" you stutter out.

"Yeah.. when I realized you liked me back, I waited for you." He shrugged like it's nothing. You hit his shoulder staring at him starting to smile.

"And that's how your Eomma and I started hanging out and then dating and married and so on. But it took your Eomma a long time to talk to me because she was super shy." Jay looks at your daughter and kisses her forehead. She smiled at him because of the memories that were brought up tonight. You will forever be his and he will forever be yours.
