The moon.

You supposed you had never spent much time looking at it before—you never really had a reason to—but you remembered that on that night the moon seemed impossibly bright to you.

So bright, and so big; the soft rays of its pale, ghostly light kissing the smooth white sand below, and casting an ethereal glow on the lulling waves which broke along the shoreline. 

The sound seemed almost like a melody to you, as the gentle sea breeze flowed softly through your hair. A moonlight melody; hauntingly beautiful, mesmerizing, and not unlike the dulcet ones you often heard drifting from the piano of the boy who stood beside you on the beach.
