1. How switching feels… It depends for how much control and time. One of the things that happens more often feels like you’re barely aware if we switch fully, or in a sort of state where you’d be mostly asleep but just aware enough to get an understanding that you moved and some of what went on, but there will be a time discrepancy, it doesn’t feel like that time entirely actually passed. Another option is that we do go completely or mostly unaware sometimes. This one often happens when someone needs a break as dictated by the brain or isn’t too concerned about what’s happening at the moment. They’ll remember some things through others memory but nothing from themself but a few sounds. This one feels more that the time passed didnt at all, while the first more feels like when you zone out doing something and it doesn’t feel like as much time passed than it actually did but you were still somewhat aware of it. It isn’t bad, actually pretty useful for a break, but it tends to happen less with the host and more with the others. The prior happens more with the host, as there’s more of a concern of not leaving the body and people thinking somethings wrong, we’re going to be trying to have more time where someone else can take over fully perhaps, finding a place where people won’t find us as much but not too far
2. As said it depends for what happens with awareness and memory. The “dissapearing” part sort of like a deep sleep sort of makes us completely or mostly unaware unless we look through someone else’s memory, but the first type of switching makes it easy to recall memory from that time even if not entirely aware. Memory that’s our own
3. Lost memories to any degree feel like a gap. That gap can be either like a dug hole, or the middle of burnt cardboard. Mostly cutoff at one point or going on for a while and suddenly the one not fronting isn’t aware or isn’t as aware as much. Not an unsettling gap, we often know what’s happened or trust that another used the time well, a less deep hole- but it’s weird. Just something we have to expect. May change in the future but sometimes those gaps help when someone needs a break
4. Maybe there is stuff that we don’t want each other to do, but more in the realm of light teasing or getting upset with people that someone else may have more tolerance for. It’s never anything too bad, but makes for some interesting scenarios. Once during an inner world session, Kay stole Altheo’s hat and flew off with it knowing vei wouldn’t get mad. It was fun
5. Nobody really ignores each other, but communication fluctuates. Usually, we’re able to communicate super well and vividly, like hearing an almost on voice but just that bit corporeal where you know it’s coming from your head… but sometimes the brain likes to play a trick where the host or someone will be frontstuck ( usually the host ) and nobody will be able to respond for a while. It’s usually resolved someone quick but has caused it’s fair share of concern and worry
6. Only the inner world can we see each other, but sometimes we have flashes of others in our position, like a 2nd or 3rd person type thing and can imagine each other doing things from the past or that they’d do like when you think “oh my friend would totally do this it just seems like them lol”. However we have a really vivid picture of things, so when we see each other in the inner world we can really see each other
7. Daydreams feel fake, with characters or situations we know are fake and scenarios we can control. There’s no overlap, as conversations and inner world things feel real, genuine and like having a conversation with real people that just isn’t like blorbo playing a prank on their friends
8. While our system isn’t entirely connected to any condition, our autism and adhd affects how others act a lot as well as the effects it has for us specifically. It can affect fronting and how well people are, some people can’t help but stim when excited and at least three of us are sensitive and two or one are hyperempathetic
9. Always less alone. They help out more than ever expected from each other, and provide different perspectives that another wouldn’t have dreamed of
questions for systems
I’m wanting to understand other people’s plurality better so here are some questions! Everyone is allowed to participate, regardless of how you identify your plurality or origins. Hopefully these questions will help us all appreciate the differences and similarities in each other!
What does switching feel like for you? How much control do you have over switches?
What happens to you when you switch out? Are you still aware of the external world or do you disappear?
Do you ever lose memories because of your system? If so, describe what that’s like for you.
Do your system members ever do anything that you don’t want them to do?
Are you able to communicate easily with your system? Do they ever ignore you?
Can you see your system members? Do you see them in the external world (like standing in front of you) or do you see them internally (like in an inner world)? Can you do this whenever you want or does it happen on its own?
How do you tell the difference between daydreams and system members? Or is there an overlap for you?
Is your system connected to any disorder or mental health condition? If not, how can you tell?
Does having a system make you feel less alone or more alone?
