Before ye start ragging on the idea, read inside here & ye'll see why the US & Canada as well as my own country (Mongolia, where overcrowded cells by thrice the capacity said cells are meant to hold aren't uncommon to where TB infections aren't rare either) could stand to experiment with at least a few jail & prison (plus juvie) places styled like those of inside the Nords (Iceland might do such a prison system too). More humane treatment & more open jail & prison facility kinds would be a start in coexisting with pre-existing closed prisons, but see inside for more. Sure the Nordic model & systems have flaws, but we could certainly learn some things from them.
Some ways one could learn from & how they can be applied towards possible change for the better. Just since one's being punished don't needfully mean one's unworthy of humane treatment.
