I don't know who needs to hear this, but back in 2019, one of the Penumbra Podcast's hosts Harley Takagi Kaner made a podcast where they interviewed nine people about their experiences with love that changed their lives, and every perspective is so unique and honest. Some episodes were too relatable and made me cry.

Edges
Queer Podcasts
None

Just like, queer longing, gender stuff, being confused about identity, struggling to understand the different types of attraction (especially in the absence of those feelings), and trying to navigate life and relationships with all that.

It's an incredible podcast and being able to hear those stories means so much to me. I cannot recommend it enough.

It's only ten episodes, and every year or two I'll relisten to the entire thing. And I've reentered that now. Tadpole's always been a comfort episode for me. It's just so sweet and fluffy. Somebody's boyfriend keeps getting more and more relatable now that I've sort of acknowledged my own gender confusion and especially now that I've attempted to explain those feelings to my cis partner who doesn't quite get it.

The Strange Case of Starship Iris appreciation post

Everyone loves a good fictional podcast about queers in space. And Starship Iris does a wonderful job at including various sexual orientations and gender identities in a way that is both very casual and also addresses the difficulites and misconceptions those characters face because of their identies. It's very clearly a queer podcast made by queer people, and made with love and care and careful consideration. One other thing I really liked was how they treated alien linguistics and culture, especially in the relationship between the alien and the human. Because as someone who is a billingual immigrant and is in a relationship where we each have entirely different native languages and cultural backgrounds, that just felt so real. Like, obviously the characters mostly talk in English for the sake of the listener being able to actually understand what's happening. Some media will just give non-native english speaking characters an accent and grammar mistakes, but here there's so many details and care that went into this The little moments of "how do you say X?" Words that can be translated in multiple ways depending on context. The non-native speaker pointing out words/sayings that logically don't make a whole lot of sense that the native speaker would never really think about. The sayings that don't translate well. One language having pronouns that don't really exist in the other. Having an entire conversation in one language and then slipping back into another language to say important stuff like I love you. Certain letters like J's having many different distinct sounds that all sound about the same to a non-native. Missing a home that no longer exists. Wanting to celebrate holidays that people around you have never heard of. Like, it's a made up language and a made up culture. But the creators made it feel very real. And not to spoil anything, but the line "How come we can't even know how long?" at the end of season 2 made me cry actual tears.
