• Some Rayman sketches •

I'm sorry, I had to solve some stuff with the university lately.

First three sketches (top) are newer and last two (bottom) are more older.

Multiple Raymans theory

This is just my own interpretation of the scattered Rayman lore and stories , which is basically all Rayman content I make unless stated otherwise

So I have my own idea of what Rayman’s species is but the gist is that they’re (magic) hand made beings meant to be helpers of sorts , though they’re have their own independent thoughts and personality and don’t always do what they’re were “made to do” (still thinking on specifics like how they’re made and what they’re made off)

The Glade of Dreams has had several heroes throughout it’s existence long before the Rayman we know today and will likely have many more heroes come after him.

The first of these heroes is Ray-Gnarr who was , if not one of , the first ever of the Thingamajigs (no one ever got around to giving the species a proper name). There’s very little known of him personally as his existence was in the time of the first bad dream and Jano’s reign of terror, meaning many Glade inhabitants were too busy running from nightmares to take up writing. What has been found from old writings is that he was the one who defeated Jano and helped banish him to the cave of bad dreams. Various sources say he used only his bare hands and a tooth he ripped out of a beast to fight the nightmare, though some scholars believe that to be an exaggeration and many debates are still had regarding this. The last thing that has been found of him is scrolls telling that he led early settlers to the tops of Mystical Pique, though the details surrounding this is vergue and any attempts to find more information of Ray Gnarr’s apparent last journey has only led to dead ends.

The next noticeable hero to have come after Ray Gnarr and several centuries after him would be Sir Rayelot, though he was a much more odder figure. Various myths and legends tell of an adventurous and mysterious knight who fought many foes and stopped at nothing to save innocent teensies from the clutches of evil, though others have found conflicting written pieces describing how the hero in question simply wanted to have his helmet removed and actually ran away from dragons. There have been drinking games thanks to Sir Rayelot’s conflicting stories , but said drinking games have been banned in most of the Glade of dreams because of the alcohol poisoning, so play at your own risk.

And the one who defeated the terrible Mr dark is known as Rayman! Expect, his not the Rayman you know off

See , the Rayman who fought Mr Dark is a completely different thingamajig to the Rayman who saved the glade from Robo pirates, despite the physical and personality resemblance the two share.

So let’s start with Rayman “Senior” ; He was a very relaxed fello , close friend to Betilla and the magician and lover of naps. He is very sensitive to the subject of his hair and rumour has it he left his fiancée over her suggesting he get a haircut , no he will not explain why his hair looks like a split banana and if you touch it he will punch you in the face. Rayman Senior did casual heroics but his victory over Mr Dark was what made him famous , even if he gets mistaken for the current Rayman in modern times. Rayman senior was a very childish adult to the point he could easily be mistaken for a child and while he loved to be social, he was a humble man and had a strong sense of justice within him in that refused to leave anyone behind (like the fact he insisted to freeing all the electoons before facing Mr Dark)

Which lead to his death by the robo pirates

Than we have our Rayman , made by Betilla the fairy and loved by all the glade as he has the world on his shoulders.

I don’t think I need to explain much on this guy, besides the fact he was directly named after the first Rayman.

Side note- the Valley is a sort of island composed by many thingamajigs , in other areas of the glade it’s not that common to come across them, and having “Ray” in the name is just a really weird coincidence that keeps popping up

Everyone else seems to make this dude out as this mysterious and all powerful man who went to the dark side after some tragic event , cursing himself in his path for a cause he believes is just

And heres my take where he grew up as a circus baby and decided to be a moustache twirling villain because he felt like it, also his a filthy capitalistic and has a degree in lawful evil

Should do more traditional stuff haha

Various Rayman doodles based off Various Rayman thoughts:

1) Decided in my Rayman world that Mr Dark was an orphan thingamajig , he was abandoned shortly after his birth by his creators and taken in by none other than Rigatoni. While Mr Dark (who I’m thinking went by Ziti as a child) saw the Ring Leader as family, Rigatoni thought of him as nothing more than a product that he’ll eventually replace as soon as the crowd stopped cheering

You can connect the dots from a childhood of being a side show to an attention starved villain who steals cooking recipes

heck , the only reason he stole the great protoon and caged people was just so people wouldn’t ignore him

His kinda like the Lego version of Joker in that his extremely childish and petty , but also cunning and fully capable of causing serious damage regardless if it’s intentional or not (such as the fact his naturally gifted with fire magic)

The clowns in Rayman 1 are folks he personally knew from his circus life , though they and every one else only worked for him because he paid them, yeah getting a degree in business and being raised by a retired crime lord goes a loooong way in getting help when you don’t know how to make long lasting relationships

I also see the animated series taking place before Rayman 1

2) Rayman and Mr Dark relationship with each other used to be pretty hostile in that Rayman just saw Mr Dark as a douche he had to punch.

Though as time went on , as Mr Dark kept doing petty crimes and just generally did everything to stay relevant , Rayman soon stopped feeling like Mr Dark was a threat and felt ….. pity

Eventually the two became more akin to goofy frenemies where they act dramatically sometimes,with Rayman even trying to get Betilla and the magician to give him a chance

and than Rayman got killed by robot pirates :(

(I headcanon Rayman 1 to be a different and dude to current Rayman btw, Rayman 1 was bffs with Betilla and the Magician while current Rayman is Betilla’s son)

3) Possible god and goddess? Idk I think it be cool if there more gods besides Polokus

4) A cyclops oc named Rai I’m working on , total himbo right there

5) and various doodles,I can’t seem to ignore how fun Dark x Magician are to draw but also I think Annetta could have a gf, so maybe Globette from Rayman M?

IDK if I’ll finish this but personally I think Magician and his cousins could bring sexy back in the next Rayman game
