Reminder For Mi - Tumblr Posts
hey, uh, I want you to know that the number of notes you get on a fic is absolutely meaningless. don't place your worth in numbers, or you'll never be satisfied. you'll always be chasing more, more, more. reblogs, likes, and comments are awesome, but don't let the lack thereof discourage you from telling your stories. I know it's hard. I know it's discouraging. I know that social media has conditioned us to covet those big numbers, but they're not as important as your mental health, and they never will be.
gentle reminder
your creations inspire and bring joy, even if for now it is just to yourself, so please try your best to never stop creating, and to not be discouraged
I just want to say this:
If there is content you want, or you feel there is something missing, please create it.
I don’t mean this in a no one else will do it for you way but in a there is no way anyone will ever be able to create it the way you envision it because you are the only one who thinks the same way you do.
Writing is a skill.
It is not an inherent talent that some people have and others don’t — perhaps it comes more naturally to some than it does to others — but those few individuals have still had to hone their skill. You don’t see the things they write that have no ending or any point or are anything but just random words, or the first things they’ve written that aren’t anything like what they’re capable of now.
If you can form a sentence in any language, you can write.
Writing “well” is subjective and almost all writers dislike their own stuff or will find flaws which can often be things others love.
All you need to do is write and write often and hone your skill.
Write often, write badly, write with no point, write with a point but end up going on a different direction, write about things you know well, and write about things you don’t just as an excuse to learn about those things, write for fun or write to sort through thoughts and emotions, write because something in your soul compels you to put word after word without stopping.
Write because there’s something you want to see, and trust me when I say you are the perfect person to make it happen.
And if after all this you think “I can’t” or “it’s too late” then I will share this with you:
Because even now I still need it from time to time
