so much this. I find it very interesting that now that harry's image is shifting over to "the new david bowie" or the new queercoded rock icon that made "real music" that Music Bros(tm) salivate over, it's now cool to like harry even though his music is pop. The comparison to hbw too is so good because if anyone should be getting recognition for being a rock icon, why is it not niall whose voice is PERFECT for rock and who has been playing guitar almost his whole career? obviously I love harry but i think a lot of his popularity and gp fandom is coming in through marketing and not necessarily because he *IS* the next rock icon.

I really think that we as a fandom should unpack how it’s Very Cool to like harry styles right now but not as cool to like any of the other 1d members despite all of them being very successful and being equally as unique as harry is. and also how it’s extremely cool to like harry in a way that it was NEVER cool to like one direction.
