God’s Abomination: Spacegodzilla
I worked hard on this one, made some extras for it as well!
Spacegodzilla is not even remotely close to being a favorite of mine, if I have to choose a "not"zilla, I'll take Mechagodzilla any day. But I loved doing this redesign. It also gave me a chance to really up the stakes for Godzilla, show his strength and also have him lose something at the same time.
Lore under the cut:
Long after the death of Biollante, the United States was held accountable for finding and producing the international convict, General Hix. He had gone into hiding once the reveal of the second version of Mechagodzilla’s direct involvement with the national leader’s deaths came to light.
During this time, Godzilla had settled into a more protector style role. He was keeping the MUTO and Kamacuras in line. Eventually, Pharaoh revealed himself to Mothra and Godzilla, bowing his head in reverence. At long last, he was ready to accept that he was not a leader like Cleopatra had been, and recognized that opposing Godzilla was certain death.
Godzilla accepted his surrender and begrudgingly accepted him and his kin into the fold. The planet was seemingly at peace now. MUTO did not dare come to the surface without Pharaoh ordering it, and it would only be allowed if they were moving to a new radiation pocket within the great hive.
Little did anyone know, there was something deep within the yawning depths of space that was poised to bring about the destruction of everything they knew.
The Matango spores that shot spaceward when the Biollante world tree was destroyed had been tumbling through the endless expanse for months at this point. Coated in the blood and foliage of Biollante, they moved through the crushing planar stretch of a black hole. Within, their genetic makeup was slowly assaulted by cosmic radiation, the otherworldly hues of green and magenta swirling within the golden spores.
This new super charged spore adopted an orange-ish hue as it tumbled through space and collided with a strange reptilian beast. This crystalline monstrosity did not realize that it was slowly being infested with the still sapient remains of the Matango. And slowly but surely, it mutated. Its mind was lost to the fungus as its white skin slowly blistered and expanded, ripping and healing many times over while it changed shape.
The crystals in its back and face slowly transformed and shifted to its back, losing their pinkish coloration and becoming a deep orange with a yellow internal glow. The beast floated freely in space, its lower half a mass of tendrils.
This new being seemed to be similar in size and shape as Godzilla. But it had a strange “mouthless” jaw. It turned abruptly and began a journey through the cosmos, aimed at Earth. It wanted one thing. The death of its progenitor.
Godzilla and Andarta were traveling through a deep pocket within the plates where the great hive was as well as the other megafauna, when suddenly, the earth around them shook. By this time, Godzilla Junior was half the size of his mother, just about to the hip of Godzilla. He too was traveling with them beneath the surface when the shaking began.
NASA had broadcasted a fast moving object that was quickly headed towards Earth. They’d classified it as a Category 10 entity, ranking it alongside Monster X and his entourage. A category 10 was a risk to the entire planet, not just a city. If this entity were to collide with earth at the speed it was moving, it would most likely split the planet in half. The impact alone would send shockwaves and tsunamis rolling into townships and cities.
M.O.G.U.E.R.A and JET Jaguar were tasked with a space bound mission to intercept and destroy it. After all the years of iteration and changes made, both Jaguar and the UNGCC mech were capable of space travel.
The team left earth, their massive forms vanishing into the darkness above to meet with the beast and take it down.
The creature approached the planet, its eyes glowing like stars as the crystals in its body pulsated with cosmic energy. Then, it was struck by the railgun on MOGUERA’s arm before a flurry of jabs struck it in the face from Jaguar.
The mecha duo fought in a combo style, each taking turns setting up a finishing blow to try and whittle the beast’s strength down. But then, the monstrosity turned the tide, firing strange crystalline fragments into Jaguar and sending him spiraling off into the darkness of space. It then turned to MOGUERA and tore its railgun arm off, before the mech fired the other cannon at point blank into its chest.
The blast caved its chest in, creating a hole that could see through to the other side of its body. But it opened its jaws, splitting the layer of skin on its maw as it bit down on MOGUERA’s head and twisted it off. The crew inside panicked as the monster flung the head they were controlling the mech within away from Earth. Then, it went towards the surface of Earth.
The beast had changed its tendril bottom half into legs like Godzilla’s as it touched down, the strange crystalline growths it dropped spreading spores like the Matango it had evolved from. The crystal infestation splintered and spread across the city like a plague, humans caught in the spread were brutally twisted from within as their lungs developed crystal growths that would split open their bodies as they became larger.
By the time the sun set, the city was an orange, pulsating mass of crystal. Like the inside of a geode. Godzilla, Andarta and Junior emerged, heading in and after the beast. The news had dubbed it “Spacegodzilla,” in a hurry to flee the scene before the crystal infestation overtook their building.
Spacegodzilla laid eyes on his progenitor, his true bane, the one that had killed his first form. And the battle began. Space was able to fire crystal projectiles like spears at Godzilla and Andarta. Godzilla’s fifth form was nigh impenetrable, and Andarta, she was well known for being able to take any damage in stride. They protected Junior while attacking their enemy.
The battle was immense, before Space was able to snatch Junior away from Andarta’s protective stance. The monster bellowed in fear as her son was taken, Godzilla charged in to take the child back.
Spacegodzilla roared, the sound was a warbled, twisted version of his progenitors, before lowering his head and summoning a blackhole. The gap in reality slowly grew in size, swallowing buildings, ripping them from their foundations. Godzilla snarled in agony as the blackhole started to devour him, his flesh ripping away and healing before ripping again in a painful cycle.
The void expanded, pressing Godzilla into the earth as more of the city was swallowed around him, the weight of the cosmos was on his shoulders as he watched his enemy holding his adopted son hostage.
With a burst of energy, Godzilla pushed upwards, standing within the blackhole as it shredded his body over and over, his molecules compressing and regrowing as fast as they were vaporized by the pressure of space.
He roared, the sound was lost inside the void, but Spacegodzilla could hear it. Then, he stepped forward, his body threatening to implode with all the missing internal organs and flesh. He roared again, but he didn’t have his vocal chords anymore.
His entire skeleton pulsated purple, before he fired his Chorus beam from his skull, neck and ribs. The beam coiled within the blackhole before breaching the void and carving Spacegodzilla in half. Junior was released, before running away from the smoldering body of his kidnapper.
Godzilla stepped forward again, pulling away from the blackhole as it slowly dissipated. Andarta, making sure that Junior was okay, turned and sprinted at Spacegodzilla, snarling and leaping at the one that had threatened her son.
Spacegodzilla speared her through her open mouth with his tail as a final violent act, infecting her with the crystalline spore strain.
Godzilla bellowed before stamping his enemy into the dirt and tearing apart the remains. As he turned away from Spacegodzilla, the beast had one more burst of energy left in it, crawling with its arms at Godzilla with surprising speed. Before it could attack him, Junior blasted the spaceborne impostor, his uncontrolled breath easily vaporizing Spacegodzilla’s remains.
With their enemy defeated, Junior and Godzilla stood with Andarta as she scratched helplessly at the still growing crystal infestation on her body. She mewled and whimpered at Junior, then to Godzilla, hoping that he’d understand that her son couldn’t be allowed to come near her.
Junior let out a mournful cry as Godzilla prevented him from consoling his mother. Slowly, the light left her eyes as her body completely crystallized before them.
JET descended into the city, holding the head of MOGUERA in his hands, having saved the crew from drifting into space. And the loudest silence anyone had ever experienced followed as the body of Andarta laid in the rubble of the collapsed remains.
Godzilla had lost the one that had made him feel like he was no longer alone. And though they’d been allies only, the darkness of her death hurt far more than any pain he’d been subjected to.
He was still alive. And so was Junior. The world was still protected by… God’s Abomination.
