Octolings and Inklings in Squirrel and Hedgehog? For some reason, I like this premise. Let's go.
In my opinion, which faction would they side with? Some details might be fanon.
Please note, this is what i feel they would be on. I don't really have explanations for these. Some things may not make sense.
The Inklings would likely side to the Weasel Empire/Unit. They will have extra training – due to the fact they're more used to ink-filled weapons rather than real weapons. This training teaches them to get used to real weapons.They'll also have pretty bad treatment by the Weasels and be seen as inferior like they're mice.
Octarian Inklings... A gut feeling says they'll side with the Mt. Black Rock rebels. Before Aekku's death, a majority of them would've been under his command. But, after he died, they would've been under Mangko and Geomeunjogjebi's command already.
The extra training thing still applies to the squids with Octarian genes/blood/anything. They have simliar treatment as in the military they're trying to overthrow, but slightly better.Some of the Octarians in general would also side with the rebels of Mt. Rock.
As for Ex-Octarian soldiers (Octolings). A half of them would side with Flower Hill, the other half Weasel Empire/Unit. In Flower Hill, Octolings would probably be treated as equals, like the squirrels, hedgehogs, ducks, etc.

A Very Normal Day
Agent 3, Mi-Rae, has to go from Inkopolis to the territory of Black Rock, as they are currently working on a weapon with the Octarians. Cap'n Cuttlefish is somehow aware of it, deciding to alert them.
As Mi-Rae progresses through the mountain, they're in an Octarian disguise. (bro thinks they're geumsaegi 💀)
Interacting with Mulmangcho and Scout Commander Aekku has to get them to reveal their relationship (which is publicly kept a secret), unaware of Mi-Rae's intentions.

Meolikalag (머리카락, lit. translation: hair) is the Neo Agent 3 of the world of A Very Normal Day (AVND), an upcoming SaH-Splatoon crossover fanfiction. She is an Octarian-type Inkling, seen through one of her eyes.

* Meolikalag adores seanwiches, consantly eating them.
* She has a moderate dislike towards Mulmangcho.
