“The Face Across”

I stare into the eyes of the face across from mine. Deep blue, like the sky at the moment between when the colors of the sunset face and the blackness of night appears, the eyes stare back at me. I can see every striation, every fleck of grey and black in the hue of those twin orbs.  I open my mouth and speak to it.

“I hate this. I’m so worthless.”
