it was another one of those weekly events, you liked them for the fights, cuisine and the lazing around with seth. the only difference was that this time you had to be a debutante.

you already knew there was no convincing your mother to let you sit out so you just embraced it, the only challenge was finding a date.

you were picky with your dates and you weren’t bold enough to just convince seth to be your date, especially when you were watching him constantly drool over summer - have to witness him continuously shoot his shot with summer, and her sparing him the occasional glare and snarky remark.

besides the stress with seth, it was pretty fun getting ready with the girls, in a way it made you guys closer.

your time was approaching and there wasn’t long until you’d have to step up to the stage. regarding your date, you gave up on being particular and just took the next person but that seemed to backfire. your date ditched you for another deb and you were stranded.

despite the fact that you were dragged into this, it was disappointing that you couldn’t participate. but just when you thought it was all over, seth appeared.

“seth? what are you doing here?” you questioned him. he was supposed to be by summers side.

“looking for you,” he replied breathlessly and rambled about how he ran here. “why aren’t you up there?”

you told seth about how your date ditched you and he held out his arm invitingly. you held onto him as you began to make eye contact.

“why aren’t you with summer?” you questioned. that was the only reason he came to the ball anyway.

“you were alone and it’s not like summer would ever willingly choose me,”

‘finally he came to his senses.’ you thought but you were still confused; why did seth leave his only opportunity to talk to his lifelong crush just to be with you?

“plus a little birdie told me you have a crush on me.” the brunette boy winked. you could only assume this was the work of ryan knocking some sense into him, he was quite perceptive.

you chuckled at the statement, you knew it was true but decided to dismiss it. “you wish. now let’s go!” you grabbed his arm and scurried up the stage just in time for your name. you were listening to him ramble on the way about how he always suspected it. as much as you liked him, there was no denying his self obsession.

as you stepped on the stage, you saw sandy and kirsten smile at each other, “that’s my boy!” sandy said while clapping. you always had a feeling that seth’s parents knew about your crush, this just confirmed it.
