haven’t read Silm yet but am mostly enjoying RoP as fanfic THIS I keep meaning to read the Silm? I have a whole bunch of Silm tumblr posts I've saved to read after I do I don't consider RoP a portrayal of canon events - and I was very sad about how it doesn't have the same feeling of majesty and nobility and grand old things that the LOTR movies had But watching it in the mindset of 'this is the most big-budget fanfiction I've ever seen' makes it enjoyable for the most part other than like. uh. Galadriel mostly she's still pretty old at this point in the timeline!! I don't think taking away her cool wise ethereal vibes was a great creative choice! what have they done to my girl 😭 Also the fact that they went with the most utterly wild rarepair ship you would never even imagine from reading Tolkien's works (I mean; not that I've read the Silm; but I don't get the impression that that was a thing there) It feels a little like one of those 'pulled two names at random and thought heheheh I'm gonna write a huge angsty fic for it' ships which... is somewhat fun?
